“No one ever gave me anything before.”

“But surely you must have gotten presents when you were a child?”

Carolyn has a gift for Adam. A green sweater. Adam is so touched that he is in tears. He has never received a gift before. Carolyn is puzzled and says he must have gotten presents when he was a child. Adam nearly blurts out that he skipped over the whole childhood thing (except for the tantrums), but stops himself. He tells Carolyn that she is the nicest person that he’s ever known. He wants to be her friend always and never hurt her.

“Have you ever thought of going far away where no one knows you? Where you can live your own life. Not your family’s. Not your friends. Professor Stokes told me that people often live a life that’s expected of them. I don’t understand…Have you thought of living your own life?”

“Yes. Yes!”

“Carolyn come away with me!”

Carolyn tells him she’s not frightened, but Adam doesn’t believe her. He holds her in his arms and she clings to him. This is the first time she has allowed him to hold her. Adam wants to talk. It will be the last time. He must leave after the experiment is completed. He wants her to go with him. It’s clear how much Adam means to Carolyn but she thinks it’s impossible. She has thought and thought. About him?

“I’ve thought about how dear you are. How attractive.”

“But my scars, they’re so ugly! I can’t even look at myself in the mirror!”

“Adam, I don’t even see them anymore.”

There are certainly more controversial topics in DARK SHADOWS fandom, but folks remain divided on Robert Rodan’s performance as “Adam.” While his first few appearances on the show are a little rocky, I liked what he did with the character and always regretted that neither Rodan nor Adam returned to the show.

My poor, guy.. He failed for her, lies. I could never treat Adam the way he was being treated by her and all those that we're supposed to help him learn the world he woke up, in. Help him to make, friends. Instead got stood up and, neglected. I would so have love to been apart of Adam's, life. I love and care for, him. The way he should have been treated, earlier. But that's ok I can always dream that him and I are together and that we're both are very, happy. I can't imagine a life without my sweet, tall, adorable, darling Adam!

“I was created for you, Adam. So that we could be together. I want us to be together.”

A seductive Eve reconciles with Adam. She says she takes walks without him because he is still wanted by the police, but with Barnabas and Julia away (*at Wyndcliif, presumably), nobody knows who she is. Eve denies Adam’s accusation that there is someone else in her life and explains her irritability as a reaction to the “adjustments” she’s had to make since being brought to life. She thinks Adam is the most handsome man she has ever seen and wants to be with him. They kiss passionately. Adam buys her change of attitude hook, line and sinker but says that if there was someone else, he would want to kill him. Eve quiets him with another kiss.

“You make me very happy.”

“Oh, I’m glad! I want to make you happy.”
