Once more, Albedo finds himself in a strange land. A Spirale that was and yet wasn't, co-existing with their own, filled with inhabitants that mirrored them almost perfectly. Or, at least, he thinks that's what it should have been. Having lived an entirely different life from his reflection wasn't surprising to him, but he found himself interested in the major differences they seemed to share. The lack of a yellow diamond was an indication that unlike himself, his other was not a product of alchemy and therefore had no need to ponder the specifics of why he had been created.

And yet he'd also taken a scientific career path as if the universe had attempted to steer him onto a similar road that Albedo had ventured onto so many years ago. They both valued knowledge, though to very different extents. While Albedo was no stranger to macabre demonstrations depending on the subject, he found himself disturbed at the experiments that had been conducted in the name of science. It was justified by the need for understanding as people of this Spirale knew very little of how to deal with CPNs and so came the dark observations, the endless pursuit in the name of having the upper hand.

While he would not condone such inhumane acts, it was very clear that a brilliant mind had been led astray. What had once started as an innocent ambition had now been warped into something that couldn't be walked back on. It was something he couldn't accept and yet the other readily gave him the blessing he so needed despite his rejection. After a very, very long conversation and a mutual agreement to speak of nothing that went on in the forbidden labs, Albedo departed and found himself aimlessly wandering around the alternate Spirale.

Having mixed feelings is...one way to describe how he feels. On one hand, it's evil to conduct experiments on live beings, and yet the wealth of information they held was undeniable. It was explained to him as being for the greater good and yet he could not make peace with such an oversimplification of a complex way of thinking. Still, even if he wanted to stop it, he found himself unable to do much. There wasn't much to be done anyhow.

It does, however, disturb him at how far off the path his other had strayed. To think that living completely different lives would cause him to go onto the dark path. Even Albedo had been tempted every so often but knew that such things were wrong and that even research had its limits. Still...it made him wonder if he hadn't had the people in his life to serving as moral compasses would he have turned out just as bad or even worse. Without Alice, Klee, or the entirety of the Knights of Favonius, where would he be now without his master? It was a chilling thought, one that he decided would best be left unanswered as he'd gotten to witness just how bad things could get if he ever decided to.

a young man in his early twenties.

formerly worked for the spirale defense group as one of the leading scientists to better understand CPNs.

well, he quit after a few years and went off to focus on his own personal research since he and the higher ups weren’t seeing eye to eye for very good reasons on their behalf.

his way of researching is very...dubious, to say the least.

okay, you got him. he captures cpns to do all types of inhumane experiments on them in the name of research and to better understand them. 

obviously nobody was going for that, so he left and got himself an underground lab that nobody knows about where he spends a majority of his time there.

still sends intel to the defense group, albeit anonymously.

yeah he went off into the deep end i’m sorry to say. that’s what happens when you have nobody around to be your moral compass!

“I find it curious as well. An obvious explanation would be that this land is much similar to our own in how it operates but that can’t be true. In fact, I find it impossible that each and every world is so in tune. It’s most likely the work of our mysterious captors. I have a hypothesis...though I’ll have to go into the field to gather any useful information regarding it.”
