please, the only reason why you stick out is because you're a glamorous movie star and everyone is in awe of you. did you manage to see everything you were interested in? that trip seemed to go in a flash and there was barely time to see half of the stuff i would've wanted to show people.

So every time I have been in Australia I feel I am sticking out like a so thumb as I only know what do what the tourists like. I blame trip advisor for telling me what to do. So, I am coming to you, a local to tell me, is there anything here I simply cannot miss? @ashtcnirwinx

it was awesome that you let me show off some of my favourite parts of sydney while we were there. while i'm originally from the suburbs, it's still my city and it's always a pleasure to show it around. did you have a good time in my motherland? did you have to rush right back to work once the trip ended or did you get to ease your way back into reality?

So, I've only been here when touring so I've never had the chance to really explore at all. I feel I can trust you with showing me around the best spots since I know you are from here. I entrust you to help me out if you want to at all. @ashtcnirwinx

i would've loved to have been able to come to jack's wedding. all the content he and karine were sharing looked amazing and you didn't do a half-bad job at singing for them either. kidding. fab job as usual. we were coming from italy and that flight never gets easier. that jetlag feels like a terrible hangover and i don't miss them one bit. did you and hails go straight back to LA afterwards?

gotta say that as much i don't mind doing solo shows, having to sing at jack's wedding in front of all his friends and karine's family was awkward as hell yesterday. could've used you and your perfectly time comedy chops. rip. the bright side is that it meant hails and i were already in sydney for the trip so didn't have to take that endless flight over. how was it for you and harry? you guys were coming in from italy, right? or was it LA? no matter, whenever the jetleg stops kicking your ass then let's get together for some drinks. missing ya, mate. / @ashtcnirwinx

i've grown up with dogs and always considered myself a dog person, but since getting my rescue cat, i've been converted into a cat person. i think it depends on your circumstances. a dog is harder to travel with but there's very few things better than puppy cuddles. i have a sphinx cat and they're a sassy dog in the body of a hairless cat and it's my fave thing. did you grow up with pets?

so i've been thinking to get a pet lately and me and joe haven't figured out what we want to get yet. so, what better to do than phone a friend. so — should we get a cat, dog or something else entirely ? i'm kinda into the idea of the pets you don't see too often, but i'm also thinking if there's a reason or it's just preference. dude, i just watched nosferatu and i was so blown away. i'm not usually into horror and anything that's adjacent to it but that one will stick with me for a long time. both you and lily-rose were simply fantastic. is this the first time that you're able to take a longer break between projects? me, i'm heading into the studio with the guys to finish off our sixth album and hopefully we'll be able to release it and tour this year. been a minute since we've been on the road together.

between ❛ nosferatu ❜ and now ❛ superman ❜ i'm just really feeling this sense of work pride. getting all me and the amazing cast and crew worked on out in the world and enjoyed by many. however, i admit — i'm ready to breathe for a moment as it feels like i haven't gotten to much with these projects, some personal ones and the holidays. i can't be the only one who's been rather tied up lately. anything you're looking forward to this year whether your own work or just something in general ?( @hfrpstarters )

how do you get the news that you've been picked for something like that? do they just call you up or send you a really official looking letter about it? eh, people love to argue about who deserves what and it's so dumb. everyone who gets something like that is very much deserving. taking breaks to unwind is a must, no one can go all the time and remain in a good, creative headspace. i write better music when i'm in a good place mentally tbh.

Thank you. It is a great honour, and you are right about not everyone gets it. You usually have to do something that deserves it. Although there are a few people who think certain people should have it and they haven't. Honestly, my family don't give me a hard time about it. I am glad to hear that it has done wonders. Sometimes it does that.

when you get to that point with a collaborator, it just makes the music better. while i always love doing my own thing, returning back to making music with the band is like coming home in all of the best ways. would you ever move to the states permanently or are you happy just visiting occasionally? you have a ton of charisma, could see you doing great with stand-up. have you ever thought about it?

Yeah, Gravy is actually one of my closest friends - he's the person I stay with the most when I'm in LA, we're more like brothers now, it's beautiful. I've always enjoyed watching it, and I like making my friends laugh, and I guess I write funny shit in my lyrics sometimes, but I don't exactly see myself as a comedian. Just somebody who likes dabbling sometimes.

ash: that's actually so true. i think it must be because it's a "safe" topic to ask someone about. asking about kids is always much trickier tbh. ash: what's he working on right now? do you go spend time with him on set often or do you prefer to give him a little space while he works?

lauren: honestly though i feel like it’s all people ask me about or i somehow bring it up in conversation. i kind of like it though lol

lauren: he is working, he’s currently on set of another project and i think i’m going to surprise him for valentine’s day and fly out to see him.

gosh, i hope you've not stumbled onto anything other than the lemon tree. 5sos twitter drama is always the stupidest and the reason none of us are all that active on the platform. i lived there for over eight years, so leaving was a bittersweet feeling but my address had also been leaked and i had fans showing up on my doorstep, so it was time to go. i love the new house, but i've found that i'm not home enough to have a garden and it makes me sad. you are? damn, you gotta give me some tips.

every now and then, i find myself on the aussie side of twitter. that includes a bit of 5SOS drama, of course. not enough for me to actually know anything important but enough for me to know about the lemon tree. that is rather sad but fingers crossed the new owners are taking good care of it. are you enjoying your new place? i've got quite the green thumb and i can safely say most of my plants make it out alive. there's been a few aloes that haven't survived but those things are hard to grow anyway.

congratulations on being knighted. that's such a cool honor and not everyone gets to achieve that. does your family give you a hard time about being a Sr now or do they just generally think it's a really cool thing? new years has been really great for me, been able to do a lot of relaxing and preparing to go record a new album next month. it's honestly done wonders for my creativity.

Its been quite the few weeks. I was away with my son and daughter and their mother in Portugal for Christmas. And then had a chance to spend some time with Harry back in the UK before he headed back to Germany. Then there was the fact that now I am getting used to the fact that I am officially Sir Gareth Southgate now. I have been told by my children that doesn't going to change at home. I had to laugh when they told me this because I wasn't expecting it to. Haha. Anyway...how are you doing? How is your New Year going so far?
