I'm writing my rewrite, I'm still in doubt about what to do with Katsuki, like I want him to be important, but his canon personality makes me not like him, so I have the idea of completely changing his character, he'll literally be another person, I'm inspired by his prototype version, but at the same time it makes me wonder if it'll be good to do this. What can I do? I don't want to be unfair to Katsuki's character, I don't want to treat him like a monster who has no salvation.
My honest advice? Keep his canon version as a base form, but intertwine it with his prototype version to make him more likeable. Make him a jerk who isn't always aware he's being a jerk. Have him encourage others to try harder so he can feel even more confident when he beats them (this has always been a major failing of his character to me because if he wants to be the best why does he pitch a fit when others are stronger?). It's a perfect blend of keeping him ambitious and rough without making him one dimensional.
That way his character is easier to digest

Reflecting on some of my Bakugou posts, I think I've figured out the reason why his redemption just doesn't work for me. It's backwards.
Redemption for a character, in its most basic form, is a character acknowledging their bad behavior, remorse for their actions, and then making the genuine effort to change. Obviously, the most famous example of this is Zuko. But honestly? It can be even simpler than that (I also detest comparing every show to ATLA when there are better/more relevant examples out there).
Sasha Waybright from Amphibia had a near perfect redemption arc.

Sasha's arc is much simpler than Zuko's, but in my opinion, no less impactful. Sasha starts off as a bad friend who manipulates and strong-arms her friends into doing what she wants. Her behavior is then enabled by her environment in Amphibia, and she tries to exert her control over her friends even more.
When everything falls apart, Sasha is left on her own. She sees how much she's hurt her friends and feels genuine sorrow and regret. So she takes a stand to protect the people that her friend cares about instead of running and saving herself. She reflects and makes a real change to do the right thing.
It really is that easy to successfully redeem a character. Sasha was in a similar- not the same, obviously- boat as Bakugou, but her redemption didn't need narrative pandering or long-winded explanations.
Bakugou's redemption is weakened by how it's presented. Bakugou doesn't acknowledge his behavior until near the end of the series. The narrative is trying to tell us that he was changing before then and his apology was the final piece of that. But it just doesn't work because by waiting so long, a lot of Bakugou's earlier actions are swept under the rug. And because of that, he repeats that same behavior while he's supposed to be changing. It's contradictory and convoluted.
Now, in some cases, showing us redemption backwards can work. That's how it was with Rose Quartz from Steven Universe. Through flashbacks, we were shown how most people remembered her and slowly got to how she started off. That works because a) Rose is dead and b) the show isn't trying to tell you that she's a good person who deserves forgiveness. It's trying to tell you that she was a flawed person who tried her best to change and be better.
That's not what's going on with Bakugou. With Bakugou, the effort to actually make him better just isn't there

In light of the last ask I got, it's so interesting that now Izuku is getting hate. Because when he was a blank prop who worshipped Bakugou at every turn, that was fine. When he didn't show a hint of malice against Bakugou, that was defended as him just not holding a grudge. But now that he's exercising agency against his abuser as a conscious adult who's (presumably) had time to come to terms with his trauma, y'all are mad?
Bakugou stans and BakuDeku shippers never cared about Izuku. They only cared about how he could make Bakugou look better. Now that he isn't doing that anymore, he's being thrown out like garbage

God forbid you ever criticize the lack of consequences Bakugou experiences in MHA, or suddenly you’ll find dozens of Bakugou stans pouring into your mentions to make a speech about how cruel you are for forcing him to eat cement. They’ll act as though “consequences” inherently involves throwing him into the dungeon or putting him in detention for 100 years and then moan about how him facing consequences would only perpetuate a cycle of abuse/discrimination.
Listen, it’s not really that much of a consequence if the “consequence” in question isn’t directly connected to his current or past bad behaviour. “Oh but his scars!” “When he died that one time!” “His guilt for getting kidnapped” None of those are related to his bullying, and in my opinion, that makes them insufficient as consequences in an arc about changing for the better.
The consequences I would actually like to see could be as simple as: Izuku feels sad/mad because of what he went through, or certain characters reflect on how Bakugou’s past impacts their perception of him. More introspection on the victim’s end is needed, Bakugou doesn’t necessarily need to be pilloried for the arc to be satisfying.

Tribute
I laughed almost non-stop watching Deadpool & Wolverine. The crass and gross and the ridiculous are mixed in with just a bit of clever. And then there's the pure joy of watching to almost indestructible dudes killing each other in violent ways (it's a WB cartoon kind of fun).
But as always it's the layer below the humour that really hits. And in a prefect Deadpool way this one worked both in the movie but also on the meta level. It's the story of a failed superhero that the Avengers didn't want and whose girlfriend left. Here trying to save his world to save his friends. He gets a second chance at being who he always wanted to be but the price is abandoning everyone he came up with. MCU and Sacred Timeline is one person deal. But this is where Multiverse pays off. It means he can keep his friends and timeline. He just has to fight cybernocracy that would rather dismantle it instantly first.
And it's a story of a fallen studio which movies lost the audience and couldn't find the right way to tell it's stories (with extra layer of Disney's Marvel being on precipice of that too now). All it's properties buried and replaced for a new shinier thing. We could move on and only acknowledge the pieces that haven't been tarnished. And yet, this movie looks back at it all, and brings back the discarded ridiculed. Including the ones we never even got. Using Void to discard them and Alioth to eat them into oblivion is such a prefect metaphor you'd think it was invented for this Film. It's a prefect integration of MCU ideas for the plot of this one story.
The whole movie is practically a tribute to the early days of Marvel and superhero movies that created the momentum that MCU then built it's 30 billion empire on. This is what makes each cameo count. It isn't there just for a joke or Easter Egg moment but it ties to the theme of the story, We are revisiting the forgotten heroes, the fallen ones, the ones who never got to be. And if we are lucky the ones who still might be (please, please let us keep Daphne Keen).
It's also a reminder of how long both Jackman and Reynolds have been in this. The first X-Men movie came out 24 years ago. Reynolds was in Blade: Trinity 20 years ago. I don't think it's an accident a lot of those cameos went to the beginnings with Pyro and Electra. And even with the MCU actors reminding us they started in Fox as Evans came back as Johnny Storm. Even Jon Favreau cameo as Happy Hogan was a reminder he was once Foggy Nelson in Daredevil. This was reunion movie in more ways than one.
And the behind the scenes of those movies, the whole history of Fox Marvel films really hit you in the end. Even the failures like the last Fantastic Four. Even to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the Deadpool abomination there. This is what got us here. This is for all the fun we had over the years with these characters and superheroes in general. This was the start.
Of course, Deadpool wouldn't be Deadpool if they didn't desecrate and made fun of the very thing they were paying tribute too. Both the initial fight and any reference to Fox made sure of that. Reminding us that even the best parts of the past shouldn't be sacred. You should build new stories and not be afraid to change. There will be new Blade. And a new Johnny Storm. And maybe a new Deadpool and Wolverine one day too (long, long time from now apparently 😋).
And new universes give you new opportunities to meet people. Maybe even find a romance like B-15 and Peter. Or become a villain. I'm not sure how I feel about the Doom Announcement but let's see. This movie reminded us it's just one more "same face - different person" case in this multiverse.

DEADPOOL SPOILERS!!!
.
.
.
This is the only place I know of to post this cause I don't do talking videos on tiktok, but I noticed an Easter egg in the new Deadpool movie and I have yet to see anyone else mention it??? Follow along👇🏼.
During the opening dance scene, deadpool is fighting (read: destroying) the TVA agents.
During this time, he kicks wolverines skull towards the camera, and we see it open-mouthed and flying by:
I noticed something in the mouth, and after searching for ages, I finally figured it out.

When you zoom in and look close, you can see a number written in what looks like the roof of the mouth.

I tried to figure out what it could be and after seeing the 2, what looks to be a 0 or 4, a 6, and a 0, I did some digging. I remembered in deadpool 2 when Deadpool is explaining the plan to break Russel out, he has a crayon drawn map. In the top left corner of the map is a little drawing of Wolverine with a prisoner number. At the time people realized what that number was.

"Prisoner number 24601" is the same number that Hugh Jackmans character Jean has in prison, in the movie Les Miserables.
And so by zooming in as far as my samsung will allow, I can see the outline of these same numbers. I admit it is a little bit of guess work but it's still an educated guess.

So yeah. Lots of work to figure out what the weird number is that I saw for a split second in the theater. If someone else pointed this out already and I missed it, let me know!

Deadpool and Wolverine Spoilers!!!
First things first, I absolutely loved Deadpool and Wolverine. Finally seeing these two characters done in a way that you can tell they all loved and had wanted for so long was so amazing to see.
But let me tell you…. I about had an aneurysm when fucking ELEKTRA showed up.
This woman right here, was my childhood. She was the first female hero I got to see on the big screen fighting side by side with the heroes my dad watched. Little me was so excited to see that a girl could also be a hero. A girl could be badass. A girl could be just like those heroes my dad loved.
And so my obsession with Elektra began. I watched Daredevil over and over as a kid, then forced my dad to take me to see Elektra when it came out. He even brought me practice sais. As I’ve grown, I have always had a spot in my heart for Elektra, but I never have rewatched Daredevil or Elektra. I want to keep the rose colored glasses of my childhood on them. I want to keep that childlike amazement and love.
As soon as Jennifer Garner stepped into the scene as the Elektra I grew up with, I gasped and immediately teared up. I never thought I would see her again, in a completely new story, as an adult. My inner child was screaming as I sat in the theater barely able to contain my excitement. I know she isn’t who a lot of people are excited for. There was Wesley Snipes bas as Blade, Chris Evans back as Jonny Storm, Channing Tatum finally getting his Gambit, but I couldn’t take my eyes off Elektra. It’s been over 20 years, but I still have my practice sais. I still have that love for her. And I am so happy Deadpool brought her back in such a respectful way and gave her some closure.
I wish I could show my appreciation to everyone involved in Deadpool and Wolverine for not only giving us a phenomenal movie, but also for giving me a piece of my childhood.

You know the quirkless red shoe theory due to the toe joint that’s popular in fandom? Whether or not the joe joint is a sign of quirkless was or not, I don’t believe that it’s to the point that all quirked people have more narrowed feet than their ancestors and the quirkless. Tamaki is such an example as he has wide feet, and there’s all the mutants who have abnormal feet shape so realistically the theory is false. It works better as MLA propaganda for quirkless discrimination however
So here's the thing: I have never heard of this theory before. And because of that, this was a roller coaster to read. The comment about Tamaki's feet especially made me double take.
For those of you who were just as lost as I was, the basic idea is that people in the series without Quirks have red shoes, specifically Izuku, Toshinori, and sometimes Tomura. People have then extrapolated this idea to mean that people without Quirks can only buy those shoes because they still have the extra toe joint, making other shoes uncomfortable. And then there are people who go off the rails and say this is like a mark of discrimination for Quirkless people, so everyone knows on sight that they are Quirkless. Now, I wouldn't have that big of an issue with a cute little connection like this. My issues lie in people taking this link to such an extreme. While it's interesting idea from a worldbuilding perspective, at least the idea of things like clothing changing to accommodate all the new aspects of Quirks, I think it's pretty farfetched.
This all hinges on the idea that footwear would need to have a drastic change to accommodate for the missing toe joint, and I don't buy it. We don't know what's up with the extra toe joint. It could very well fuse into a singular joe, keeping the same shape, or barely have an actual effect on anatomy. And if that were somehow the case, why does it matter if it's red? Wouldn't the shoe's design matter more than the color? And why would only one company make something that twenty percent of the population needed? That would be like if only one company made children’s shoes. What makes it even worse for me is the idea that these red shoes are some kind of mark of shame for Quirkless people, which is such an extreme jump in logic for the setting and how people without Quirks are treated. It just falls apart under the most simple of scrutiny.
I think something like this has more of a meta answer, and people are trying to take these connections too literally. While a story should try to explain and justify its world, there are some aspects you have to chalk up to the medium. Characters wearing red shoes isn’t a big enough deal to need an in-universe explanation. It could just be Hori trying to show these characters have some form of connection to one another or are similar in some way. This could merely be a visual shorthand for the audience to tell us something, like how it connects All Might and Izuku, and later Izuku and Tomura. You could easily read deeper meanings as well. It could be saying that these are all people of action and potential with their color and clothing choice, willing to take the first steps to changing things. Which applies more to Izuku and All Might, but could certainly apply to Tomura.

Naomasa Tsukauchi’s Quirk and How Horikoshi Could Fuck Us Over With It: A Shower Thought
So I was thinking about how fanon often times makes little details about characters and everyone just rolls with it, to the point that if you told someone it’s not canon they’d be in genuine shock.
Example: Tsukauchi’s “quirk”
Now, anyone that’s read any MHA fanfiction with our favorite detective in it knows that his quirk is lie detector
Except it isn’t
Tsukauchi’s quirk has never been revealed in canon, someone just made it up one day and everyone took it as canon.
(I find this so funny because everyone in the MHA fandom has subconsciously agreed on the specifics of his quirk, from its name to how it detects things to what it detects.)
Now, onto my shower thought:
Since Tsukauchi’s quirk has never been confirmed, in reality it could be a myriad of things.
In other words, Horikoshi has a myriad of ways to fuck us over should he confirm Tsukauchi’s quirk
I think the best way that he could do this is to make Tsukauchi quirkless.
Not only would it portray how the quirkless actually exist in society and how they’re treated as adults in present time, but it would also make multiple things in canon better.
The main example that I thought of with this is All Might’s first meeting with Izuku, especially considering how many people hate on AM for telling Izuku he couldn’t be a hero (which in my opinion was fair, but go off ig).
The amount of fics I’ve read where Izuku offs himself or becomes a vigilante because of All Might telling him he should be a police officer instead—
Anyway, that’s a rant for another day.
If Tsukauchi was quirkless, this would change everything about how All Mights words to Izuku should be perceived.
Imagine AM meeting a bright eyed quirkless kid with a fierce need to help people and immediately thinks of one certain detecive friend, so when asked if the kid could be like him, wanting to spare the kid from heartbreak and the stresses of being a hero, tries to set the boy on the same path of said friend, who to All Might is a hero in his own right.
Izuku: Can I be a hero like you, even if I don’t have a quirk?
All Might: *in pain because of hero work* *doesn’t want kid to deal with this shit* uh no not really
All Might: *thinks of his best friend who’s super cool and just like the kid* but you could be a hero in other ways, like a police officer!
All Might: *begrudgingly because his friend is awesome and people should know that* they don’t get nearly as much credit or popularity as they should, but they still do good, honest work!
All Might: *happy that he’s sent a find young man his friend’s way*
Izuku: *dreams crushed* *eyeing the edge of the building*
