when your work me and your private me start becoming the same person, that's when you most need a break. at least in the entertainment industry. once i learned to separate stage ashton from the real me, it became a little easier to remain sane in the business. a decade? you started really young too. what was your first acting job ever? you should see some of the shockingly terrible lyrics i've written in my time but every bad song is a learning experience in what not to do next time lmao. a morning that starts with yoga and a cold plunge definitely puts me on the right track and i try not skip those steps too often.

right, it can deeply shape your identity and sense of self. it becomes ingrained in us, right? yeah! almost a decade already, which i'm very grateful for. well, each song, regardless of how it feels during creation, adds to your experience and skill set as an artist no matter if it's forced sometimes. taking a moment to cultivate peace and calm through meditation can help set a positive tone for the hours ahead. it allows you to center yourself, focus your thoughts, and approach the day with a clearer and more balanced perspective.

oh christ, working since you were practically a baby? damn, whatever complaints i have about my schedule, you've grown up working and that's gotta become draining at some point. did you ever get to have anything resembling a regular teen experience? i love that, combining work with a genuine passion of yours. when you're happy and fulfilled at work, everything feels a little easier.

I can relate to you on this as I had been working from the time I was 5/6 and I didn't really actively take a break until 2016. But the biggest change for me was that I wanted to do movies that were tied into my activism. Keep pushing the envelope where I keep myself on my toes and not work all of the time because I realized that I don't need to. For me the other change was to check in with myself on the mental front.

i'm going to be in australia until after christmas but you want anything from the motherland? i'm doing some last minute shopping and i figured i'll get you souvenirs/presents while i'm at it. what are you doing for the holidays? hopefully not moping at home alone. / @lukehcmmngs

that hallway sounds magical, can't even lie. honestly something from a holiday movie. do you have different type of decorations every year or do you switch it around? i've seen pictures of the birthday parties your family throws the kiddos, so i can just imagine how impressive those halloween decorations were as well. awe, sweet babies. did they all write to santa too?

Okay so i don't know if you know but i have this iconic hallway at my house not my words that's twitter's opinion but it's where all the main decorations go to, so we have six threes on each side so it almost feels like you are walking into wonderland at may house, you should had seen our Halloween decorations, the walls were full of skulls and it was amazing, oh no they adore Santa and can't wait for his yearly visit.

filming usually takes months, right? especially if you're working on a show and you end up being far away from home and work becomes your sole focus. then when you're home, there's suddenly all these hours you have to fill and at first, it's a struggle. ahh, how long have you done yoga? i fully believe doing yoga turned my whole life around. the benefits for health and mental wellbeing are immense. ah, the big day is quickly approaching. with your birthday landing between christmas and new years, do you usually celebrate on the day? any plans this year? i can respect that, you found something you enjoy doing and in a culture that very much encourages going out all the time, it takes a bit of courage to take a different path. i stopped drinking little over three years ago, mainly because it was becoming a problem i couldn't solve on my own but can't say i miss the hangovers or any of the byproducts of that. / @oliviacookeokay

oh yes! i totally understand what you're talking about. i hate the empty time when i'm on hiatus from filming, no matter what it may be, a movie or a television show. whenever we take breaks, for like, the holidays and such, i always struggle to find things to do with my time. picking up some hobbies is the best way that i've found to pass the time when i'm not busy with work. between hobbies and binge watching all these shows that i have needed to catch up on for the longest of time. i've found that yoga has been a good thing to start in my free time. really helps with the thought that i'm going to be thirty in.... twenty days. oh god twenty days! one of the biggest changes i think i began to see in myself when i started to realize that i'd rather stay in most nights and read a book than go out and party. i think that started happening when i turned twenty-seven or sometime around there. i still like to go out and have drinks with my friends but i found that being hung over is something i don't enjoy. so i try not to do it too often anymore haha. i don't think i know of anyone who wants to be hungover. but yeah, i know i don't haha.

hey, despite what history you and luke have, i promise i'm not the kind of guy that makes up their mind about someone without knowing them. what happened is none of my business and i'd be a shitty person to pass judgement. something something about throwing the first stone and my past doesn't lend itself to that. we're more than good and as i've seen dune more times than i care to admit, i fully believe you're more than decent actually. um, is everything cool with you and him? do you still talk? / @zencaya

You know, I'd never really really spoken to you properly before and I think it's a shame we've only ever seen each other in passing. wait, you have more than one christmas tree at your house? are we talking more than three or? though, can't say i'm that surprised, you seem to be a go big or go home kind of woman and i bet your house currently looks like a magical christmas wonderland for the kiddos. are they excited for santa or are they too big to believe in him still? /

Okay let's talk, i don't play when it comes to decorations alright? did i lost count how many Christmas tree i got at my house? maybe but the point is that what matters in the end is the aesthetic right? and the kids are loving it so who really cares in the end that i am so dramatic.

admitting not being okay is one of the hardest things you ever have to do, so i'm very proud of you, man. that's got to have taken a lot outta you. do you feel more like yourself these days? living life in the public eye is rough, especially when you're struggling. needing to have this veneer of perfection when you don't feel it is a crushing weight on you.

I sat here for a good twenty minutes thinking about the question at hand. Biggest change I've seen is that I'm more apt to tell people when I'm not feeling so hot upstairs. I would never flat out and say so in the past; letting everyone get the brunt of my mood swings. I think maybe another change was learning to go with the flow more. I was very much a person that didn't like change at all.

kenny!! wow, it's been a minute. have to say i'm real glad to hear from you, and i have to apologize for not reaching out with LA tickets while we were touring. next time, yeah? not sure when that is but you'll be the first person i call when i find out. i've just been catching up on sleep and doing normal person thing, which has been a nice change of pace. since you're the face of pretty much every brand now, whenever you can fit me into your busy schedule, i can be there to bug you. just let me know when.

that's what, an almost solid two years from filming to release? that's a long time to wait to see the fruits of your labour. do you get sneak peaks while they're editing it or? life of an actor sounds so tiring, you guys are constantly working crazy hours and it's still never enough. i love touring, i love travel and i love being around our fans, but you do start missing your own bed and your space. a tour bus with three other dudes for months does start bugging eventually, hah. i love surfing, yoga, cooking and hiking, if i can be outside doing something it's the best. i didn't know you played guitar. did you learn to play as a kid or as an adult?

we started filming that back in august of 2021, and let's not even begin to explain the work between films for auditions, casting work and promos as things came out as well. is that so ? sounds like a lot but i hope you had a nice time despite being tiring. oh, definitely ! i value my alone time when i can have it as much as i love my friends, family and cast mates. what do you enjoy doing when you have time alone? most of my time is catching up on what i couldn't watch and working on music, playing guitar.

ash: even when theme week is bad, it's so fucking fire. ash: oh lily no. it could've been your starter caterpillar cake and everything else you make in the future would've been a mad improvement. ash: i believe taste is the most important thing. even if it looks a little sad, that first hit of sugar will make up for it.

lily: oh my gods it is the best. lily: nope, none. it was awful. i smashed it in a bowl and that was it. no caterapiller in sight. lily: well, its cake and even bad cake is still good, right?

when you're used to working from a young age, it becomes such a huge part of your identity and getting away from that is hard. you've been acting for awhile too, right? creativity comes from either a place of deep contentment or a place of deep sorrow and being overworked and not taking care of yourself doesn't really fit into either category. i write songs when i feel like i have something i want to say but sometimes the results are more forced than others. meditation is a beautiful way to start your day. starting from a place of peace and calm sets you on a good path for the rest of the day. guilt eats away at you, so that's why you have to refuse to have any. if it makes you genuinely happy, it can't be wrong.

i hear you on that one 'cause it's like the older we get, the more we start understanding that stepping back is crucial, especially when it comes to sparking that creative fire. i mean, when you're grinding non-stop, trying to catch your breath, it's tough to let those ideas flow. i admire song writers 'cause i'd never have that creativity. oh yeah, i got my routines down pat. every morning, i start with a solid dose of meditation to get my head straight for the day ahead. at night, it's all about winding down with a good book or some soothing tunes, helps me relax and reset. you're spot on about not feeling guilty for doing things you love. life's too short to let guilt rain on your parade, right? gotta embrace the things that bring joy!
