so this is very much a hypothetical rn. but if i was to run a tarot card themed vip zine this summer where each person is assigned a character and a major arcana card to put them in, would any fan artists be interested in joining?

almost 15 hours no vip i am assigning hyper specific birds to every character in the show

sometimes u have to think of insect host when u remember moths symbolize inevitable and impulsive self destruction ..

something feels very fitting about ending this era of vip during graduation season. we have to say a bittersweet "goodbye for now" to the host, knowing that when we see them again they'll be changed -- but also looking forward to the creative freedom and unrestrained nonsense of off-season fandom.

it's been really fun, everyone. here's to summer!!

something that’s deeply important to me in vip is the cyclical narrative.

we open with princess emily, and end season one with her song. season two, in the first episode, anna garcia comes back as rocks, just like the kind that haunt host’s dreams in the finale of season one.

nana is our first taste of serious host!vic lore, and is vic’s primary caretaker for at least some period as a child. she dies in between seasons, and then in the season two finale lisa gilroy comes back as a newborn demon disowned by their dad, looking for a new caretaker.

these cycles aren’t just in the characters either - there’s an almost sisyphean nature to the way each episode unfolds. host knows by now what’s going to happen each interview. they’re pushing a boulder up a hill, completing an arduous, painful task, knowing full well that it won’t get them anywhere in the long run.

host is stuck in a cycle, and i doubt they’ll be freed anytime soon.
