Tldr: my brief encounter with the backrooms
Being in this fandom has its costs.
My paranoia doesn’t help.
Does any one know the British second hand shop Emmaus.
Well this happened recently. I was visiting England and I happens upon one of their locations.
I love charity shops but this chain of shops always gave me the creeps. Big corrugated metal buildings usually with odd layouts.
I had visited this one location a couple of years back but they had redecorated and moved rooms around. Disappointedly their toy room had gotten smaller. But I digress this storey isn’t a review of their stores.
I had entered with my parents. The weather outside was cold. My mum wanted to look at the clothes which were a couple of rooms away from the entrance. My dad wanted to look at electronics. I wanted to go with my dad but no one would let me speak and I was in the middle of sneezing due to temperature change. My dad had walked ahead.
So I tried to catch up with him, passing a couple as I did.
But as I entered the first room everything suddenly went dead silent.
I couldn’t see or hear anyone in the building. Only strangely fitting music playing out of a replica 60’s radio.
The room was large. With mirrors placed on the retro painted walls. A number of chairs on sale, a couch in the centre on a chestnut draw set that was also being sold.
A horrible sense of dread set in as I walked towards the open set of double doors at the other side of the wall. I could see clearly into the next hallway which I new would lead me to the main room eventually but the lack of noise was really getting to me.
Now keep in mind my hadn’t said he was going to the electronics, I had just assumed due to a bulb blowing in flashlight back at our camp sight.
This ment I was checking every side room as I walked. I jumped at a my own shadow in one room.
It took getting to the toy room (6 rooms from the entrance) until I saw any one else.
The rest of the customers were in the main room. (A big hall with 7 to 8 rooms around it.)
And the electrical was a small cupboard, only being able to fit 3 people at a time. And my dad was in there.
It’s situations like that which make question if I really do believe in things like the backrooms. If I really have to remind myself that it’s all made up.
Or if it’s simple situations like that, which catch people alone without a phone (I HAD LEFT MINE IN THE CAR) is what I experienced what characters in the backrooms feel when they realise they no longer know where they are.
The stupid thing as well is that they had opened previously closed rooms, so I times I really did feel lost.
The worst part was the layout of the rooms, some looped around. Others lead to dead end hallways. Most rooms were too big for the amount of things in them. And the temperature fluctuation in the rooms, some rooms were freezing others warm.

There are worse places then the party rooms…
Worse entities than the party goers.
Those in the front rooms have no idea.
