Hogwarts Legacy Pride Week
Tumblr media
*.✧ Day 6 prompt: Reunion / Tension ✧.*
William and Andrew ( @ask-andrew-montrose ) once more with a story post Hogwarts that we are yet to fully develop; the one involving curses, transformations, keeping secrets, and not giving up on the people we love. It'll be nerve-wracking. This scene is as tense a reunion as one can possibly have. Neither of them had a good day but all that matters is that Will has his Andrew back. @hogwartslegacyprideweek

Remember:
Life is like bottoming. It can be a lot to take in. But if you breathe through the hard parts and stretch yourself past your limits, you'll find the joy of it!
Tumblr media
I have heard stretching is important.

As my Granny used to say: Life can be very unpredictable. One minute you're sure that you're a dom top who's into twinks, and the next you're letting some Brazilian beefy dude called Diego do things to you that you've only read about in books.
Happy Pride to you too, anon.
Life comes at you fast. Enjoy yourself, but try not to do the same.

The last time Montrose had found himself in France, it was under vastly different circumstances. The language returned easily enough, and so did the memories. It was safe to say he was happy to make new ones in the current moment, and what a moment it was. He could hardly believe the last few weeks spent with Will. They had been some of the best of his life, and yet despite being fluent in French ….no word still felt more foreign on his tongue presently than one. Fiancé.
Tumblr media
The Abbotts and the Rousseau’s had welcomed him in with nothing but warmth, and open arms. The gentle sounds of their laughter and congratulations hummed in pleasant trails wherever Will went, and Montrose followed. In some moments, Montrose was happier to sit back and watch as Will shared their news. He had always admired the way joy so effortlessly radiated from Will. Montrose smiled, despite knowing that his own joy couldn’t arrive without some complications…no matter how welcome it was.
Change had always felt more like a hypothetical invitation that was always out of reach. There had always been the question in the back of Montrose’s mind of whether he was even capable of change. But if anyone ever made him believe he was— it was William Abbott.
The last time Andrew had been in France, he had been a boy. His father had brought him along with his brother to conduct business. Montrose had learned what his family name truly meant that trip.
That to be a Montrose was to choose power over everything - including family.
But here and now, as he discussed Thoreau and Tennyson with Will’s Great Grandmother, and felt the warm approving gaze of Will’s Maman from across the room - it was clear that while Andrew’s family had been a maze of artifice and cold manipulation, the Abbotts were a beacon of warmth, compassion, and sincerity. At least from what he'd seen in these few short weeks.
Wherever Will took Montrose, it was easy to see how deeply Will was cherished. The idea that Will’s family could feel the same way about him was disorienting.
They knew of his history, but were actively welcoming him anyway. It was a strange concept to Montrose, but instead of fear, the thought instilled tentative hope. (Well there was still SOME fear too, but perhaps that was a normal feeling when you were choosing to promise yourself to someone, and everything they came with).
Montrose didn’t promise perfection in any part of his life, unless it was manufactured to seem so…but maybe a future with the Abbotts meant he could put those masks aside.  In several ways he already had. His masks fell away as his smiles became easier among Will’s family. And there was no mask at all whenever Andrew found himself alone with Will.
On the couch, Will’s presence next to him was like the finest of calming draughts after such a long day. Montrose relaxed next to him just by drinking Will in. As he listens to Will’s words, Montrose stills. Montrose realizes that perhaps change was not like an invitation always out of reach. Perhaps it was like a hand that had always been reach back out to him the entire time.
Perhaps that choice was more powerful than the liminal space of who Montrose actually was, versus what he had been trained to be.
His pride had taken several different forms over the years. At first, it had meant rebellion. A refusal to be shaped by his name. But now, maybe it meant he could take pride by choosing what his name got to mean to him.
And with a family that chose him.
Montrose runs his knuckles against Will’s cheek. His attention fixed, with loving deference, on the ginger haired fox that had made that choice even a possibility for him.
“It does have a nice ring to it.”

*.✧ Day 3 prompt: Family & Found Family ✧.*
This family-centred piece should be read together with the reblog from my wonderful co-writer behind @ask-andrew-montrose 💚 This is William Abbott and Andrew Montrose, navigating life past Hogwarts and Andrew's marriage proposal. Knowing how Andrew feels about the Montroses, Will had one more thing from the Abbotts to offer him after the engagement party.
Tumblr media
The first week after Andrew's proposal was hectic. Will insisted that the Abbott/Rousseau side of the family had to be notified personally, jumping from the big engagement announcement in England to the same but more sophisticated one in France, with maman in tow to help Andrew when Will was busy chirping with his cousins and grandparents.
Will was really impressed with Monty's French, and so was his mother who'd often mention it to everyone she knew, prompting Andrew to converse more with the people he'd never met before. Great-grandmother alone stole the boy for almost an hour, questioning him on everything from politics to poetry, trying to see if Andrew was worthy of her favourite British great-grandson. Will only smiled apologetically — Monty won't have to socialise with that side of the family often, beyond the engagement and then the wedding.
It was a late night when they finally left for the apartments they rented not far from the main Rousseau residence. Will had to get a place of their own, not because they weren't welcome, but because he knew they wouldn't be left alone otherwise. He already felt a little guilty, dragging Monty everywhere instead of giving them both a chance to adjust to the idea of a new beginning. And with that idea, there was a question on Will's mind that he wasn't quite sure how to breach without being forward about it. Now that Monty had officially met pretty much everyone, it felt fitting to breach the topic.
"Hey, Monty," he said, sitting next to Andrew on the couch and setting his wine glass aside. "Do you … want to keep your last name after we get married? I'd be good with any decision you make regarding this, do not worry on my behalf, it's not about me. And before it's even a question, I am not worried about having Andrew Montrose as my husband, because it is you, and you're the best Montrose there ever was and there will ever be.
"But I know you don't see eye to eye with your family, and I don't even know how you might be going about inviting your mother to the wedding, if at all. But if it means anything to you, and I've talked to my parents about it, too: we would be more than happy if you join us. As an Abbott, that is. Andrew Abbott."

*Bumps @ask-andrew-larson's shoulder gently*
Don't worry Larson, I feel the same way when I find a particularly good knob. And calm down @ask-sebastian I don't mean yours.
*taps his belt in thought* @ask-felix-aberg I guess that would depend on what you're comfortable with, Felix. Don't you have a friend who might know a little more about that?
*He stifles a grin*
Anatomy, that is.
You and Theo watch another student doodle something into the ground.
"This is all about leaving markings and following trails for the people that come after you," as she continues to mark the ground.
"This is a sign of peace. A sign of friendship. A sign of direction."
Looking closer at it, the two of you notice that the doodle clearly looks like a dick.
*tilts head to the side*
It's a dick.

Will catches Monty before classes one morning with the intent to return the, mhm, underpants Monty forgot the night prior before slipping out of the Slytherin commons.
"Sorry, they… Nosy found them first and… Sorry?"
He discreetly passes the underpants to Monty. There is a huge hole right where the butt should be. It's hard to say if the fabric was chewed on, ripped off, or burned through, if not all at once. Will coughs.
"Reparo couldn't fix it."
As Will hands over the destroyed evidence of his once very fine underwear, Monty winces. He surveys the damage done to his very expensive, mhm, underpants....very glad to have not been wearing them when the niffler attacked.
Clearly he had no mercy. (And yet he also had a taste for the finer things...Montrose had spent good galleons on that pair after all.)
His eyes narrow as he turns the remaining cloth in his hands. Whatever it was the niffler had done to the tattered fabric, Montrose didn't need to know. He looks back towards Will with a pained glance before drawing out his wand,
"It's best to just let them burn."

It takes a lot more than just a whip and saddle to hang on in this rodeo, Anon.
I've got a whip, I've got a saddle.
The only thing I am missing is something to ride.
I think @ask-andrew-montrose specialises in cattle in his off time.

It's better to have a slow and steady pump, Anon. If it's pounding hard all the time, you're sure to over do it.
