My friend and i have this headcanon that when they were younger, Two used to babysit Pony? it’s based on a lot of stuff but it’s real sweet

Baby sitter of the year

(Ponyboy is 8 and Two-bit is 13)

Mrs. Curtis was looking at herself in the mirror in the bathroom making sure she looked ok before leaving. “I would have one of his brothers babysit but they’re busy.” She tells Two Bit who’s leaning against the doorway.

She turned to look at him, “You sure you got this?” She asked a little nervous.

Two-Bit puffed out his chest like he was about to lead a mission. “Yes ma’am, you got my word: nothing will catch on fire like last time.”

As Mr. And Mrs. Curtis walk out the door Mr. Curtis pauses at the door. “There was a fire last time?” He asked concerned.

“Only a tiny one.”

Before either of them could say another word the door shut.

As soon as the coast was clear, Two-Bit spun around on his heal and turn to Pony, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor against the couch with a book in his lap.

“Alright, kid,” he declared, hands on his hips. “Operation: freedom has begun!”

Pony looked up and blinked at him. “You’re just babysitting me.” 

“Exactly!” Two-Bit exclaimed, he kicked off his shoes like it was part of a ceremony.

About 5 minutes later the living room looked like a tornado ran through a blanket factory. Couch cushions became battleships. Two-Bit was wearing one of Mr. Curtis’s belts as a sash and a flyswatter as a sword. 

“Ye be in shark-infested waters, lad!” He shouted standing on the coffee table.

“That’s the couch, Two-Bit.”

“It’s a metaphor!”

Pony started to laugh and jumped up on the coffee table with Two-Bit with a huge smile.

Pony was laying on the couch and spoke up, “I’m getting hungry.” 

Two-Bit got up. “Well what do you want?”

“Mmm spaghetti!”

“Mmm I don’t know how to make that. How about cereal.” Two-Bit responded already in the kitchen getting two mugs out

Two-But poured in the cereal into a mug and handed it to pony.

“No milk?” Pony asked.

“We’re roughin’ it.” Two-Bit replied. “Real survivors eat forested flakes like trail mix.”

He also handed Pony a coke with a crazy straw. 

“Shhhh don’t tell my parents.” Pony mumbled with a mouthful of sugar.

Two-Bit tapped pony’s nose. “What happens at babysitter camp, stays at babysitter camp.”

At some point pony asks, “Do carrots really help your eyes?”

Two-Bit shook his head. “Nope. That’s a myth. But if you eat too much you’ll turn orange. Happened to a kid in my class. Vanished. Probably in a lab somewhere.”

Pony stared. “Thats not true.”

“Yes it is.”

(It wasn’t true)

Later, while jumping from couch cushion to couch cushion, Pony slipped and hit his elbow.

“Ow!” He winced.

Two-Bit dropped everything and rushed over, eyes huge. “Is it broken?? Do we need to amputate it?!”

“It’s just a bruise!”

“I knew I should’ve wrapped you in bubble wrap.”

Still, he sat next to Pony and gave him the rest of his coke in Solemn silence - the ultimate Two-But gesture of concern.

By 9pm, Pony was curled up under a pile of blankets, eyelids drooping. His hair stuck up on one side.

Two-Bit tiptoed around like he was sneaking past a sleeping dragon. He gently tucked Pony in, making sure his stuffed bear was nearby.

Before turning out the light he looked at Pony and whispered, “Your a good kid.”

When the Curtis parents got home the living room looked like a toy store explosion with Mickey Mouse playing in the background. Two-Bit was passed out on the floor mid-snack, and Pony was sleeping peacefully on the couch.

On the kitchen counter, written in blue marker on a paper towel: 

“Nobody died. 10/10 babysitting. Hire me again.”

7/20/25 show/sequoiia dally debut thoughts

cole fell on this butt when he rolled in on a barrel in the tulsa 1967

trevi mixing up the introduction of dally with two-bit

dally flicked his cigarette at darrel in ggah

sequoiia almost slipped jumping onto the tire but caught himself 

johnny slapping pony’s butt as they run into the curtis house 

soda lifting ace on his shoulder and her just dangling down his back (tilly seemed a bit surprised lol) 

“you ever dream about them” pony was looking for soda to say yes but then soda starts to make the joke about annmargret and pony looks so sad. he wanted validation and didn’t get it and then he couldn’t look at soda i wanted to cry for him. 

sequoiia dally was just so gentle with johnny. His “trust me i know” broke me. he’ll go to the ends of the earth for johnny (and the rest of the gang!!)

when dally leaves after cherry throws the soda, trip got really up in his face and he shoved him to the ground, like trip dropped to the floor. he looked sooooo angry as chet and paul were like teasing him.

dan seemed like he was trying not to laugh after pony goes "in the world"

soda's "no shit" followed by him grunting and flexing got such laughs and i thought jason was gonna break here too because it almsot seemed like he forgot the next part, "that's a soc girl..."

THE DARREL AND DALLY FIGHT SCENE!!! sequoiia dally seemed to genuinley want to put darrel at ease. he came from a place of understanding and once again dally showed how much he cared for the boys. but then darrel is darrel and dally's anger/annoyance is more gradually. when dally points out of he feels darrel looks down on him he sounded hurt more than angry. like darrel betrayed him.

So my favorite part of Victor’s Soda is how tactile he is with Pony, and it’s been a LONG time since I saw his Darry, and lemme just say-he’s just as tactile with Pony as Darry, just in a slightly different way.

It brings a really nice touch to the Pony/Darry relationship and I love it. Victor is such a fantastic actor and I have loved every chance I’ve gotten to see him onstage

Throwback Thursday came a little early in honor of Ponyboy’s birthday!!! I’ve had this throwback drawing in the line up for awhile, but since Pony’s birthday is today I had the idea of redrawing it in the way I interpret the Curtis brothers circa 2025. They have changed, a lot, and thank goodness for that! I like their current design so much more. 😆 I hope you like them too!

what ppl defending kids on ipads don’t seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.
