Some would say there is no worse fate than having caught the eye of such an entity. Cord would've once agreed with them. But ever since becoming closer with Gaze and losing their memories of what once was, their view shifted. I do wonder what they would think if they learned of the hells they were put through.

It, Who watches. Who sees all and knows :

Once viewed as a symbol of protection, It who sees no longer holds that title. A lingering Gaze that you can't quite place. Who is WATCHING? Why? from Where? Someone forced to watch all is bound to want to interfere. It watched as it's loved one was taken apart for "the Observers behalf".

AND IT WEPT.

I don't think I need to tell you, that there wasn't a single soul to tell you just what happened that day. THE ONLY WITNESS WAS HIM.

It who ravages, who disrupts and distorts :

"Mayhem" was a being CHAOS came in contact with. That's how it all began. I cannot tell you why, or how, no one could. CHAOS was always a concept thoroughly imperceivable, it was something that the OBSERVER always despised. CHAOS became fascinated by "Mayhem", a being that existed alone on a hidden plane of existence at the edge of the universe. This being created a life for itself in what seemed to be almost impossible conditions. Yet he thrived, he saw beauty in the harmony he created for himself. CHAOS hated it.

I won't put it in such long words, but CHAOS destroyed everything. Everything that "Mayhem" once loved. Everything "Mayhem" once built. It was all gone. It laughed as it engulfed "Mayhem" whole, turning him into it's Harbinger. It's core.

If you were to ask Mayhem what he thought of CHAOS, he would likely brush it off with a joke, or a laugh.

But it is quite silly to think that an entity of havoc would ever heed an order, don't you think? :)

[ Mayhem ]

Harbinger of Chaos, Herald of Entropy.

infos about Mayhem! :

Mayhem has been around a LONG time. As a physical manifestation of Disorder, he's a neutral party who pops in and out of universes and brings chaos to them. Shifting the balance of order is his job.

Mayhem is one of many many physical manifestations of Disorder, but all other manifestations have passed. It's heavily suspected that Mayhem killed them all. The reason for it is unknown.

Mayhem outside of doing his job is actually funnily enough a very calm person. But only outside of it.

Mayhem and Gaze have known each other a long long time as well. They get on each other's nerves. Mayhem often finds himself wondering what Cord sees in that guy.

He finds himself getting along most with the "bad sanses" aka Nightmare's bunch. He finds them entertaining.. something akin to care is blossoming within him but he doesn't wanna admit that.

Mayhem's powers consist of:

Hallucikinesis: distorting people's view on reality and making them believe something is wrong when it's not or vice versa.

Damage displacement: when afflicting pain on somebody, Mayhem has the ability to make them feel that pain elsewhere or through the entire body.

Astral Projection: taking somebody's consciousness and making them go through a false reality. ( Bro usually lives in this portal dimension btw )

Intangibility: he can walk through walls. He likes to do that sometimes. Makes him feel funny.

He can also turn his head 270 degrees like an owl.

He technically can create clones of himself but he hates doing that so unless something happens it's really truly a last resort.

Nightmare and Mayhem:

Mayhem and Nightmare met while Nightmare and his gang were out to destroy a seemingly peaceful au. However Mayhem had been there first. The people were going insane, riots happening left and right, people killing each other all the while a sole entity was sat on a tree stump observing with a freakish smile. By all accounts this au was supposed to be incredibly docile and tranquil, yet they were standing amidst endless bloodshed. It had captivated Nightmare... The amount of negativity derived from pure nothingness.

Nightmare has repeatedly offered Mayhem to join him, however Mayhem has refused every time. To wreak havoc on the balance, he must remain a neutral party member.

However Mayhem has visited Nightmare often since their encounter. Mayhem finds he has a fascination for Nightmare. A fascination that he hasn't felt in a long long time.

He has developed a care for Nightmare and his bunch. A feeling he thought he'd long since forgotten. He used to poke fun at Gaze for finding love in the fleeting things, yet here he was.

He finds himself cooking and baking with Horror, learning about food and sustenance.

He finds himself helping people like Killer and Dust by simply lending an ear or helping them calm down through conversation.

He finds himself giving advice to Cross on how to read others and their stances while fighting.

And he finds himself maybe even a little in Love with a certain someone. ^^

wee little fun facts about them :

They've been THROUGH it. Cord is a lot more happier now than they were ever before. The early days of their adventures were NOT fun. A lot people were not very pleased with the disturbance of balance they caused.

Gaze views Cord as a sort of savior for him. He views himself as a hideous monster in comparison. Cord in turn sees Gaze as THEIR savior. They saved each other. They complete one another.

Cord and Gaze didn't always get along as well as they do now. Cord used to be far more cold and calculated in the past. Gaze didn't always trust Cord, initially just wanting to regain power.

Gaze loves to call Cord his "beating heart" because that's how important Cord is to him. Cord showed him to live in the moments. As an omniscient immortal entity, Gaze watched time pass by, just watching, never seeing worth in the things that wouldn't last forever. Cord showed him the value in these things. Gaze now finds himself finding joy in small things.

Cord has never been in any form of relationship beforehand. Gaze however has. Although that was.... how to put it.. to say it was forever ago would be an understatement.

They are pretty damn protective of one another. It's very expected of Gaze to be protective. He strikes fear in people with ease. But don't undermine Cord on how protective they can get when it comes to Gaze. In comparison to Gaze, they may seem weak but they aren't a vessel without reason. Many may not be able to harm Gaze in the first place, but trust that Cord will NEVER give them the chance to anyway.

meet.. Cord !!

btw!! Cord takes MASSIVE inspiration from The Magnus Archives, Welcome to Nightvale and Malevolent!! I love these podcasts so much you should go check them out!!

some little infos about them :D

- Cord is a vessel for an "all knowing" Entity that calls itself "Gaze". That entity follows them around 24/7.

- Gaze can take multiple forms outside of Cord and can technically leave them at any given point to wander about elsewhere, but they are still bound to Cord to some extent, Gaze has to return to Cord at some point always.

- The name "Cord" actually is meant to mean heart. Cord acts akin to a heart for Gaze.

- Gaze manifests often in Cords damaged eye, or in general, it's symbol is the eye. It watches over Cord and over everything. Gaze's origins remain unknown thus far to both Gaze and Cord both.

- If Cord has a bad feeling about something or someone, they're USUALLY right. Gaze can confirm this.

- Despite the slightly alarming appearance.. Cord is actually a pretty calm individual, described by a lot as a sort of soothing presence. Gaze however often makes you feel a sense of dread and a deep feeling of being watched. Often people assume that Cord is in some kind of danger because of this.

- Cord has no prior memories of anything before meeting Gaze.

- Cord has a hole where their second eye should be. They have no recollection of how it happened, so it happened at some point before meeting Gaze.

- As before stated, Cord has no recollection of their origins prior to meeting Gaze. Making them very curious about other universes and other worlds. Gaze opens portals to such worlds and they wander through with hopes to learn more about everything and anything. They go on silly little adventures together.

- Gaze means absolutely no harm to Cord, having grown attached to them now. They fascinate Gaze in a way.

I'm actually unsure how much I'll post about Cord from here on out or if at all.. i generally tend to gravitate more toward making fanarts rather than creating my own content.. but hey, who knows!!
