You know the whole reason why I haven’t left Tumblr after all these years is because this site is so introvert friendly.
I don’t have the attention span or much less the strength to keep up with Discord conventions (bc apparently fandom is more in Discord these days?? I am not a talkative person to even take part in a group chat *shivers*) or follow with whatever’s going down on Twitter.
I can come on here, make a post into the void and reblog a bunch of posts then ramble in the tags. It’s great. You don’t have to be a person here, you can be a faceless blog and have a grand old time.

can u imagine phichit filming yuuri early on in college just pointing the camera at yuuri's poster of viktor and then at him like "who's that man" and yuuri is giggling and replies "that's my husband"
then fast forward a couple years phichit @ viktor and yuuri's house is once again filming yuuri and points the camera at viktor and back at yuuri and asks "who's that man" and yuuri is giggling and replies "that's my husband" while flashing his ring

i know it’s kind of a meme in the fandom that viktor thought making A SCENE and greeting yuuri naked in japan but i think that was completely unintentional? which makes it even funnier imo?
allow me to explain
i don’t know exactly how long after yuuri’s video went viral that this scene happens, but it’s safe to say that at least a couple of days passed? perhaps a week or a bit more, even though the anime makes it look like it’s on the next day?
so he’s been avoiding the media for days, keeping his phone off so absolutely nobody’s going to be able to reach him until people forget about this madness
which means he’s also entirely clueless about the rumors of viktor being his coach
and it makes it so much funnier because we know yuuri’s dad doesn’t know jack shit about figure skating, and viktor doesn’t know how to speak japanese AND IT WAS PROBABLY TOSHIYA WHO FIRST TALKED TO VIKTOR WHEN HE ARRIVED AT YU-TOPIA?
TOSHIYA IF YOU’D ONLY GET INTO YOUR SON’S ROOM, LOOKED AROUND AND DID THE MATH YOU WOULD KNOW
so what has happened was probably something like “i have no idea what you’re saying mr. foreign-dude but you’re probably here for our famous onsen so yes make yourself comfortable” which viktor, tired as fuck from his travel (a long ass flight from st. petersburg to tokyo, probably? plus the train from tokyo to hasetsu?) GLADLY ACCEPTS
hell yeah i’m going to enjoy the fuck out of his hot spring
since yuuri is nowhere to be seen why not take some time to relax after a long travel, am i right
it’s not like viktor would understand if yuuri’s parents were to say “oh yes yuuri is holed up in his bedroom but he’ll come out eventually” so as viktor is pretty sure he found the right place and that yuuri is there he’ll just wait and have a nice soak meanwhile
AND THEN YUURI JUST BARGES INTO THE ROOM WHERE VIKTOR IS BATHING
well, this was not how i had planned this to go but here you are?
AND OF COURSE, STANDING UP WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY BUT VIKTOR BASICALLY INVENTED BEING EXTRA AND… LET ME SHOW YOU MY HOT BOD BECAUSE I GOT TO SEE YOUR ALMOST-EVERYTHING AT THE BANQUET SO I THINK IT’S FAIR YOU GET TO SEE ME NOW AM I RIGHT???
in viktor’s mind, yuuri is this extroverted, outgoing party animal he got to know at the banquet and was absolutely mesmerized by, so he probably thinks yuuri’s going to be alright with this extra introduction? also knowing yuuri lives and probably worked at the onsen for a while viktor maybe just assumes he’s probably unfazed by nudity?
oh viktor, little did you know
it just gets funnier the more you look into it

I mean, what can I say? I’m fabulous.
I love how bodies in YOI are dynamic in a way most characters’ bodies aren’t– hair grows and is cut, characters are allowed to gain and lose weight. It’s acknowledged that Viktor had a growth spurt after his teenage years, and Yurio fears his own aging and loss of youthful flexibility.
The fact that all the characters change makes the threat that their bodies will grow old–and they’ll lose the sport they love– ever more powerful and present. The characters of YOI grow. They’re breathtakingly real
Except for the immortal Minako Okukawa, dang it

When Minako’s dance instructor first told her parents their daughter showed immense promise, they couldn’t believe it. People in Hasetsu didn’t really show promise in anything, except maybe for luxurious hot springs.
She explained that it might be best to consider sending Minako to a place where she could study dance, a place that could challenge and mold her to the ballerina she had the potential to become. “Let’s talk it over again in while, there isn’t any hurry. Just something to consider.”
Minako was seven, and refused to wear her hair without a ribbon. “For good luck,” she would say. Of course, she didn’t need luck. Some people were born with a specific destiny. Minako’s was to dance.
She loved practicing her ballet. The feeling of spinning and leaping in the air made her feel like she could fly if she tried hard enough. Her favorite part of dance class, however, was afterwards. Minako’s parents couldn’t pick her up until six, so Minako would go to school and then to the studio.
After her class, she would take out her ribbon and spin, letting her hair fly with her. She would spin and spin until she couldn’t see straight, then fall to the floor laughing. Her instructor never seemed to mind, let alone notice.
By the time her parents arrived to pick her up, she would have her ribbon neatly tied in her hair again.
Tequila and Pink Ribbons
Minako sighed as she slumped on her couch. It was another rough day. Don’t misunderstand; Minako adored her ballet students. Watching their cute faces and excited squeals as they land their first pirouette is something she wouldn’t trade for the world.
But sometimes the pressure of teaching was a little much to handle.
She took shots of tequila as she turned on the tv. There wasn’t much to watch, just re-runs and cooking shows. She settled on a baking show, but couldn’t find herself invested. Her eyelids started drooping, and the tv screen became a hazy blur.
When did I become so hopeless?
It wasn’t always this way. When Minako was five, her parents took her to her first ballet class. Her mother wrapped her hair into a bun, tying it with a pink ribbon. Minako felt strange; she always wore her hair down. Walking into the class with a strange hairdo and an unfamiliar outfit, Minako didn’t know what to think.
Walking out, Minako’s face was beaming. When asked what her favorite part was, Minako twirled around laughing. “Spinning with my ribbon, of course!”
She refused to wear her hair down for the next month.
