But thankfully my job will let me help Pax out properly as the projected birth date approaches.

Hopefully everything works out fine for Pax, MJ, and their kid. I can’t imagine how stressful these past months have been to for Pax, though..

Another year passes and my birthday is here again…but not without some promise to be had! As of late, I am in the process of building a brand new house for myself. Something that will finally give me what I’ve dreaming of for the longest time..

I just need one more thing to make it complete..

Have you heard anything from Mihai as of late?

No.. he has been oddly quiet as of late. I’d say good riddance but this doesn’t feel right either. Maybe I’m still paranoid regarding him but even when he hasn’t targeted me for a long time now.. I don’t think we could trust him. Ever.

[Phone Call Between Pax and October, a few months ago]

Pax: Hey Toby,, uh, is this a bad time?

October: No, of course not, Pax.. What’s going on?

[Pax hesitates before answering him, almost embarrassed of what zhe’s about to say. Zhe sighs]

Pax: Uh.. listen.. it’s just... I need to make an appointment with you in person.

October: O-oh uh, this soon? We just had a check up a few weeks ago. Are you doing alright? Is this an emergency or—

Pax: Uh, not exactly? But it’s still a big deal.. I’m calling you because I got confirmation that I’m pregnant. Both MJ and I really want to keep the baby but I’m also really scared.. I’m not sure what NH is going to do to them, if anything.

Pax: You know NH better than anyone and I trust you a lot with my medical shit. No other doctor is gonna handle a potential baby that may or may not contract NH from me.. Like, yes, we don’t really know if it will, but..

October: I-I see.. I’ll have you visit me within the week and I’ll try to do whatever I can to provide care and consultation.

October: ...T-there’s still a lot of unknowns regarding NH and how reproduction is impacted by a previous NH infection is still poorly understood. I doubt even the best obstetricians out there are really prepared for this—you’re the first known person with NH to become pregnant after infection. So in this case, we’d likely have to keep an even closer eye on you and your health.

October: Regardless, we’ll figure this out together, Pax. Promise. I’ll do what I can to ensure that this pregnancy occurs without any issues and that afterwards, the baby will be properly cared for.

Pax: Thanks, Toby.. it really means a lot to me.

October: Of course. Are you able to see me next Tuesday at 12?

Pax: Should be good, yeah.

October: Good.. I’ll see you soon then. Take care, alright?

Pax: I will. And thank you again, Toby. Don’t know what I’d do without you.
