Phan Cam: A Heroic Dream Festival (Day 1) (Part 3 1/2)

Griff: (proudly) I’m just a renegade-rent-a-cop who protects the streets and has a heart of justice.

Isaac: Isaac is five-star chef.

Tom: (cheerfully) And I have a girlfriend! (quickly stops when he remembered Panda being near) I mean, I’m an artist.

You should watch your words more.

Joker: And the young girl who skipped ahead to college is Chloe Park.

Chloe: Hi.

You’re in college at your age, Chloe chan? That’s quite amazing.

Chloe: It’s really nothing. I just do the homework.

Just as long as you don’t overdo it. You’re still a child, after all, and need at least some time to rest and be with your friends.

Chloe: Don’t worry, I always have time for my friends. Especially Ice Bear.

Ice Bear: Ice Bear always has time for everyone.

Fox: We’re so glad you could join us for the Dream Festival.

Panda: Same here. As long a certain koala doesn’t show up and get us kicked out.

Joker: (worried) Don’t tell me he’s here, too.

Panda: (shaking his head) Nom-Nom’s doing a music video in Markovia. He won’t be back for weeks.

(laughing a bit) Markovia? This Nom-Nom must be very brave to go to country that’s now off-limits.

Panda: He got permission from the king himself. Who knew that big hothead was a fan of the little hothead.

Oracle: Probably have a lot in common.

I guess we should have known since we met those two little friends of there who had an accident in the dorms.

We know. They’ll be a little late while they’re cleaning up, but they’ll be here soon. For now, only Rueben, his apprentices, and their friends are coming here tonight, but the rest will be here before the show ends.

Speaking of the dorm, how about the Avalorans and that Madrigal?

Camilo, who’s here with the rest of his family, is probably still being yelled at by his parents for spiriting Mateo away. Same with Black Widow and Hawkeye.

We were, until Abuelo found out about what guys do on the Dream Festival’s second day.

Senior Flores: (proud and eyeing Wolf) Not bad, huh?

Queen Elena: Besides, your friends from Enchancia came with us. The least we can do is enjoy the last days of summer someplace new and fun.

Joker: And what about you, Mateo sensei? Does this mean you’ll be teaching us Maruvian magick after all?

I wouldn’t get my hopes up, if I were you. Like I said, this isn’t something you can learn in just one week.

>It was then that, Doctor Strange and his colleague, Doctor Voodoo, arrive.

Makoto: Hey, Docs. Finished up for the day?

We should have everything set up for tomorrow and many days to come. Even longer than a week.

Mateo: (a bit confused) How does that work?

Doctor Strange: At first glance, it looks like any other outdoor area, but behind those doors, our indoor learning area exists in a pocket dimension where time and space are independent from the material world. You can stay in there for years and come out to discover you’ve only been gone a short time. Aging will not be a problem, either. It’s like virtual reality.

Mateo: So you’re saying I can teach magic that takes years to learn in just one week because the classroom would be in another dimension? Sounds a bit dubious, but it does make sense.

????? ????????: But also a bit foolish.

>We saw that the one who said that was a woman who was with the Weird Sister and a few others from their coven.

Chie: (pointing out) Hey, our friends from Sternbild are over there. We’re gonna go say hi.

Queen: Go ahead. We’ll meet a little later. We’re having our first day celebration at Joe Q’s. We’ll text you the address.

Mateo: What do you mean that it’s foolish?

It could cause some wrinkles in the fabric of space and time and create some kind of ripple effect that could cause all sorts of unimaginable events.

Doctor Strange: (amused) So what else is new?

Ambrose Spellman: Of course, you, being the Sorcerer Supreme, can handle it.

True. But do not forget, Ambrose, Stephen Strange is still a man. A woman’s touch is a little more recommended.

Doctor Strange: I have a friend who lives in the Dark Dimension who will watch us to make sure things go smoothly.

I’ve heard of her. I think we’ll be okay.

Let’s hope so. We already see each other less and less these days. I don’t want to lose you for good.

Roz: Don’t worry, you won’t.

I wish Robin could have come with us. He would have loved this.

Zelda Spellman: I understand. But a city like this is no place for a hobgoblin like him. Sure, there are hobgoblins living here, under the protections of some scaled beasts that can change to human, I’m more concerned that he might run into unpleasant company.

Aster: Like the villains that attack this city pretty much everyday. Even on Christmas.

Princess Isabel: But I’m told Avengers Campus is a safe place. No villain should be able to get us here. Right?

Adi: Most of the time, yes. But that doesn’t mean we don’t get the occasional HYDRA agent or rouge mage. I think the other day, the Wrecking Crew tried to tear down W.E.B. Thankfully, Spider-Man and the others stopped them.

??????? ????????: Relax, the heroes here know what they’re doing.

Sabrina Spellman: Well, yes, and no. She was someone was close to me. She actually wore a red ribbon, but that was the only picture of her we could find. (That and the person writing this post didn’t know I was back until after Part 1.) And was a bit convenient since my dead boyfriend’s in the picture, too. I guess we should change that, huh?

Noir: I see. I’m sorry for your loss. How close were you?

Sabrina Spellman: Really close.

You must miss Nicholas and Ms. Morningstar a lot, don’t you?

Sabrina Spellman: (shocked) How did you know who they are?

Joker: ...

If I told you now, we’d both be in trouble.

Sabrina Spellman: Right. I guess you’ll tell me when you’re ready.

Joker: Yes. Tonight, we’re suppose to have fun. Are friends will be on stage. True, they’re last, but it’ll be worth the wait.

Mateo: ... I guess I can give it a try. Just hope this works.

Yukiko: (looking down) So it’s true, you really have lost them for good this time.

It’s okay. It was bound to happen sooner or later. It least they went while I was doing what a hero does best: Saving people.

Dojima: I know I was hoping you’d retire, but not like this. I know having a true heart of justice makes you a real hero, but your powers were a big part of you.

It will take some getting used to, but we’ll find a way for Kotetsu to keep working with heroes. We even took it up with Little Aurora.

Yosuke: What did she say?

We haven’t heard back from her yet. All we can do is wait.

Yu: I hope you hear from her soon. And if you ever need anything, just tell us.

You guys really are good friends to heroes.

Not to brag, but we do what we can.

Chie: So, what have guys got planned while you’re here? Some of you are teaching, will be learning here, too?

Aside from Superpowers, I’ve also taken up Spying. Subaru took up Martial Arts.

Subaru: I thought I’d try to up my game on Hero TV. There’s nothing in the rules that says I can’t. Dragon Kid does it all the time.

Chie: We know. I can’t believe Pao-Lin didn’t come with you.

Yukiko: I also would have loved to meet Lara.

Hey, someone had to stay home and keep the show going while we’re away.

I doubt some of them are as strong as me. Though I do know my limits.

Still, this should be fun. We don’t get to see many worlds often. Especially ones that seem like they’re a bit ahead of us.

Brick: We know that, sister.

But no worries, brother.

We might still catch up. Time moves forward, no backwards.

Prudence Blackwood: You are optimistic. We will give you that.

You say that as if it were a bad thing.

Hilda Spellman: Don’t worry, it’s not.

General Núñez: So, what’s the verdict for your son for kidnapping Mateo?

Félix Madrigal: Luckily, we’re letting him off with two weeks grounded. While we’re here: Teaching, dinner with the family, that’s it.

Mateo: (disappointed) I still can’t believe you kidnapped me, Camilo. Do you have any idea how worried my mother was? How worried my friends were? ... Especially Elena and Gabe? ... I thought you were my friend. One of my best students.

Mateo: Then you should have told me about the classrooms that can stop time so I can teach it in just one week.

Doctor Strange: I’m afraid that's our fault, Master de Alva. We forgot to tell Camilo to tell about it so he could tell you.

Doctor Voodoo: We would have told you, but we sort of had our hands full at the time with a rouge sorcerer.

Aster: Was it that Mordo guy again?

Doctor Strange: (laughing) I know. He just won’t take the hint.

Prudence Blackwood: And I thought the man I once called my father was determined.

Doctor Voodoo: True. But Faustus Blackwood wanted power over Greendale. Mordo wants power over the world. Maybe even the Multiverse.

Doctor Strange: We apologize for that mishap, Master de Alva.

Mateo: Well, as long as you don’t do that again. Everyone was scared.

General Núñez: Me, especially.

Camilo: So you’ll forgive me?

Mateo: ... I’m still thinking.

King Roland: When Queen Elena mentioned Avengers Campus... I just felt like going.

Joker: But look at us, our friends are performing on stage now and we’re too busy talking to see them.

Makoto: I’m sure Akechi will be cool with us, but Ryuji would probably burst into tears if he knew we weren’t paying attention.

I’m not so sure about this. Most of everyone here are just tourists.

Have a little faith, Scarlet. There are a lot of people who would like with all their hearts to serve our world. Like that pacifist from Seattle. I think his name was Steen.

That’s true. Even Captain Danvers said there are a lot of potentially good piolets here.

Flint: I think Captain Rodgers said something similar.

Joker: Everyone has a chance to become a hero. Whether it would be the super kind, S.H.I.E.L.D., soldier, or otherwise. We can all make a difference. Especially together.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! We are an unstoppable force as one!

Lindon: (doubtful) Maybe. Just don’t get too fired up, Dad.

(coming to us with the rest of the Guardians and their chaperones) My thoughts exactly, Mr. Vanissen. Sorry. but when I saw these solider guys with you, I got curious. My dad’s in the military.

Lt. Taylor: I’m just a communications officer. It’s nothing too big.

On the contrary, we communications officers play a big role in the military. We keep everyone connected.

Just don’t let it go to your heads.

Mrs. Taylor: (laughing) No promises.

After the day we’ve had, we’re ready to hit the sack.

Aster: The muffins sound nice, but I don’t like the taste of coffee.

Juniper: (suspicious) How do you know what coffee tastes like?

Aster: (nervous) Just a good guess. Now, if Joe Q served tea, then I would come.

Sorry, A.V., I’ve been trying to get Joe to add tea to the menu for years. I don’t think he’s going to budge.

Hilda Spellman: That’s alright, love, I brought my own. It’s my special blend: A bit of chamomile, a touch of nettle, a dash of rosemary, some honeysuckle... and a calming charm bring it all together.

Aster: That sounds nice. Thanks, Ms. Hilda. Mind if I join you?

Hilda Spellman: I don’t see why not? Me and Ambrose will be taking it at Pym’s Test Kitchen.

Ambrose Spellman: We want to see how big the calming charm can get.

Ignis: If you don’t mind, I have some cakes that might go well with your tea.

Hilda Spellman: That would be lovely, dear.

Dawg: (laughing a bit) I do love cake. I think I’ll join.

Holly: I’ll join in, too.

Lunafreya: Me and Noctis shall also accompany you.

Noctis: I’m not much of a tea guy, but alright.

>We asked the others, but they also turned us down.

Tony: I’m more of a horchata kind of guy.

Queen Elena: I like horchata, too.

Sammi: Except, you get up early in the morning. I have to get Tony blasted out of bed to start the day. I may run the company, but he still owns it.

Lady Jaye: Oh great, you’re one of those types.

Gladiolus: (laughing a bit)

Alright. Just be careful. New York can be dangerous at night. Especially with all these villains. And make sure your cup is decaffeinated. Don’t want you having trouble going to bed tonight.

Jackson: Right.

Phan Cam: A Heroic Dream Festival (Day 1) (Part 3)

Hey, hey, hey, everybody! It’s time for summer’s most loveliest sounds! Welcome to this year’s Dream Festival! This promises to be a special one as we’re doing it here at Avengers Campus in New York City! That’s right, Dream FES is making its American and international debut. Starting in Tokyo, Japan, now we’re doing overseas. To get us more in the scene, our reporter on the inside is backstage right now. Over to you, girl!

>Backstage.

That’s right, I’m here backstage of what promises to be the biggest Dream Festival yet. Not only will we have our usual Idol Units with new song just ready for you, but we’ve got all kinds of acts on the second day from locals to certain parts of the world. And let’s not forget that on the third day, we will have our usual competition to see which Unit will get a music deal and have a full album release ready in time for the Winter Holidays. Joining me here are some fellow reporters: Robbie Robertson and Robert Bauchamp.

Thank you. Arigato.

Merci. I wonder if they’ll do this next year on Luna or in Paris.

Reporter: So, what is your take on Dream FES being here in America?

Mr. Robertson: Well, it’ll be a little different. We’ve had something like this over Christmas, but to see it again here and knowing that this System will be uses in the U.S. will be promise to be something new and great.

Beauchamp: Maybe. But I can imagine some people may not be happy with the System.

Reporter: You mean, because it’s like a magical girl transformation.

Mr. Robertson: You mean with the nudity?

Beauchamp: Pretty much. But I think there will be most people who will like it. But I guess we’ll find out tonight.

Reporter: It sure seems that way. And how do you feel about knowing that on the second day, some people other than the Idol Units will be able to use the System?

Mr. Robertson: Well, I wouldn’t be surprised that some people would love to try it out. They would feel more like actual Idols and magical boys and girls.

Beauchamp: My friends are performing on the second day and they paid to use the System. I think this will be the first time they’re doing something like this.

Reporter: I hope they’ll do great. Last one, what will you be writing about this in your respected media?

Beauchamp: Well, I write for a small tabloid in Luna, but I think they would read about it and might consider using the System there. But I think they would most likely prefer the next Dream Festival to be in Paris.

Mr. Robertson: Well, I might be able to write about this in the Daily Bugle... If my boss will find some room after bashing Spider-Man.

Reporter: (laughing a bit) No doubt about it. He sure has it out. Well, back to you on stage.

>Back on stage.

MC: Thanks, girl. Now, I have a special guest of my own. A real hero... At least I think he is... Are you really a hero?

Maybe. I’m sorta banned from Avengers Campus... But I had to make my Phansite debut while I can. No matter how late it’ll be posted.

MC: (confused) Come again?

Deadpool: Oops! Almost said something that I shouldn’t have. Well, better be off... I think those damn S.H.I.E.L.D. agents spotted me. See ya!

>As quickly as he came, Deadpool vanishes.

MC: (trying to make sense of what just happened) Okay... Moving on. It looks like we’re about to begin as Haruto Mikami comes on stage with his Unit, Sankishi. Mikami has just been made the new head of D-Four Productions after its former head retired. But despite this, Mikami will still perform with Sankishi. So ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the legendary Idol Unit to come all the way here from Japan. Sankishi!

>Everyone cheered as Sankishi comes on stage.

Haruto: Hello, New York!

Susa: Here we are! Dream FES in America!

Ichika: Time to show this nation the magic that we have in store.

Haruto: But don’t think we alone will do this. We have all of our fellow Idol Units to help you see your dreams come true. We have DearDream!

Thank you, New York and Avengers Campus, for having us!

Susa: We have KUROFUNE!

Let us set sail, New York, to the future!

Ichika: We have ACE!

Tonight, Avengers Campus, we’ll be your ace in the hole!

Haruto: We have In-Show-Ha!

Great ready, America! It’s showtime!

Susa: We have ANSwer!

Let’s show you all the answer you’ve been looking for!

Ichika: And we have SKUL5!

Our music will dash into your hearts and stick in your skulls!

Haruto: And let’s not forget that on the second day, which is actually the day after tomorrow as we will need time to rest and maybe check out the campus between shows, we will have an open mike to show us what you guys have to offer.

Susa: And on the final day, we will have our competition to see which of our Units, both old and new, will get a chance to have a music deal and release an album and CD just in time for the Holidays.

Ichika: Now, let us join together and make this the most memorable Dream Festival ever.

Susa: So let’s greet this show with the light of hope.

Grizzly Bear: What up, Ren, Yusuke!

Chloe Park: Hey, you guys!

We’re so glad the seven of you could make it.

We would have arrived sooner, but we had to finish unpacking.

Weird. I don’t think I’ve seen guys like you in the dorm.

Or even in the adults’ dorm.

That goes triple for the girls’ side.

We’re not staying at the dorms. Griff has relatives in the Bronx. They’re in Asia for a few weeks, but they said we can crash at their place while they’re away.

All of you?

Panda: Not all of us. Me and my brothers are too big for Griff’s cousin’s place. But we already have some friends here in New York who are will to let us in. But where they’re staying is not place for a little girl, even if Chloe is already in college. So she’s staying with Tom and the others.

Chloe: He has a point. I’m not too keen on sleeping in sewage.

You better not let Tunnel Rat hear that. He likes exploring those sewers.

I wonder if we’ll see him again soon.

Violet: Vince said that he and the other Joes would be here before the festival ends. You’ll see him soon.

Why am I suddenly worried about you wondering when you’ll see that soldier?

Typical father behavior. You’re worried... because your daughter discovered boys.

Everyone, these are our friends from San Francisco. Me and Yusuke met them while while we were there for the art show. First, we have the Bear Brothers: Grizzly, Panda, and Ice Bear.

Yay! It’s beary good to meet some fellow bears!

Ice Bear: Ice Bear’s never seen a bear like you before.
