That’s certainly a question.

I personally don’t feel very comfortable with feminine labels, nor do I really think I’m any parental figure for the scouts. I could see being brotherly though, I see all of the scouts as my family.

As for a favorite? I don’t know if I should even answer that one. It’s unfair.

Will Petrol come back as a camp counselor when he turns 18 or is there no age limit for the camp?

Yes there is an age limit- this will be my last summer at the scouts. I don’t think I’ll be returning (don’t tell the others that). I have a scholarship for an out of state college lined up and I think I’ll take that offer. I’m hoping my leave might spark some actual action to be done for the others. As in they get an actual scoutmaster or made to merge with another troop. I feel awful for leaving them but I think my leave will be necessary and helpful in the long run. I don’t want Eddie basically running the camp anymore.

Petrol, do you think any of the other woodscouts have grown since they’ve been here?

That’s a tough one, hold on I think I have photos of their first year at camp vs this year.

I’ll start with snake because I found theirs first.

Snakes changed quite a bit in the last 2 years, definitely has gotten a confidence boost and been more comfortable since joining. He’s acquired a lot of skills here too, outside of patches they’ve learned a lot about independence and taking care of himself. He’s a lot happier here, he can get out a lot of stress and anger through both working out and trying to focus on earning badges. Overall I think snakes changed and grown for the better, he’s a lot more confident in themself and has learned how to defend himself from bullying.

Next I’ll do Jermy, since he’s had minimal changes and she’s gotten here recently. Jermys changes have been more of a physical thing. I’ve definitely seen them learn better how to take care of themselves and have their mental health improved a lot. I think getting out of the house and being able to interact with other kids her age has definitely helped Jermy. Along with having time away from his parents and being able to start being independent. Overall he’s changed a lot while here and I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow.

Finally, Edward, his photos took a little bit to find, since his first one is so old. It’s not even my own, it’s one of his he used to keep in a shoebox under his bed. I think he’s the only scout to somewhat change for the worse. But then again he was the only one of us to grow up in the scouts rather than join later on in life. I vaguely remember him as a child, he was one of the brightest kids you could find. Constantly smiling, friendly to all, and overall just an innocent kid. But as he grew up in the scouts (also with influence from parents) he started to sour, to over work himself, gained a horrid fear of being alone, and so much more that’d take forever to unpack.
