This post is about Echoes of Eternity but I’m going to repost this at end of the series because it’s true and I don’t want anyone to spoil stuff in the comments
Also why I prefer Abaddon as Warmaster, he loves his brothers in black...the Black Legion series makes that very clear, but he is still a villain because he will use them up much more readily than the loyalists would use up people
I have said this before in other posts, but perhaps the thing which will always stick out to me about warhammer, above all the others, is the softness. The Siege of Terra is brutal--perhaps the Imperium at it's very most brutal, and Echoes of Eternity is no exception. We are watching night fall over a civilization--it is almost breathtakingly violent. And yet....and yet. Above the violence and the body horror and the blood and the death--a running thread through the entire Siege, through the entire war, and through this book, is love. Love and kindness amidst the horror. Love because of horror. Love in spite of horror. Dembski Bowden writes the traitors at their most villainous, consumed by the darkness of the Warp they can no longer run from, he writes the Loyalists at their very lowest, as their world crumbles to ruins and they are powerless to stop it. This book is overwhelming, fantastcally violent and yet. And yet. It's so incredibly soft. The theme of this books is love. Love for a father, for a bother, a friend, a stranger. Love for humanity, for a future that may never exist. Love for the living, for the dead. Love for the lost and the damned and the broken. Kindness, at the end. And, in the end, it is love which separates the traitors from the loyalists. It is not power, it is not control, it is not even the warp. It is that Jaghati would die to save his sons, while Mortarian would not. It is that Zeyphon would die to save a single human woman, while the traitors would use millions to stop the guns

I am feeling many more emotions than I expected to
great and terrible stuff
The End & the Death 3 is pretty harrowing. There’s this point in the book where storyline after storyline come to an end, page by page, and each one has spanned multiple books of the series. And to just see them end. To see these things that were hinted at and teased for so long, finally come to a conclusion, man, it’s hitting way harder than I ever thought it would.

No surprise, the End and the Death vol 2 is fantastic. I will say, it’s a bit looser than Vol 1. In the early chapters I was getting tired of seeing baseline humans going through it, I’ve seen it, I wanna get to the gosh dang potentially newly born God facing down his big glowy DAD. But it starts to pick up about halfway through and continues to rise and rise and rise.
To my actual surprise, Dan mentioned Udon, a Space Marine who died in Horus Rising in the whisperhead mountains. Udon, taken too soon, we hardly knew this noodly man. I’m glad to see Dan Abnett did not forget you… RIP.
Anyways, how can I wait for Vol 3? Must I howl at the door, claw at the walls of time, and beg and beg? I just want it to end already, I want to see the end and feel my body crumple around me as a book series I’ve been reading since 2010 comes to a close.

dawn of fire is a great series really
So I just finished Avenging Son by Guy Haley and I'm screaming!
I have so many emotions! It's so good! It's so fucked up! Guilliman is such a bad man! Is alpha primus Alpharius? Messinius is such a sweetheart! Guilliman is such a calculating, bad, very bad man! I want to hit Cawl with a stick until it breaks and then get a new stick! The Blackstone thing is really cool! Guilliman is so fucking shady! No wonder Horus and Big E didn't trust him! Im fine with the Primaris, I dont get the hate at all anymore. The Inquisitor is pretty cool, and im concerned over the fact that I now like two inquisitors. The Horus Heresy books are canon in universe! This book is so meta I can't, but not in a bad way. I hope the next book is half as good and I will be happy.
Overall, a good book 10/10 - Will listen to it again.

End and the death part 3: Dan abnett is just pacing in his basement talking to himself like a gremlin and it’s being transcribed in real time
