"Nonsense. You live in this country, you operate out of it, and from my understanding you are part of the dwindling middle class yes? Who better to speak on policies than the people who experience their consequences? You, the homeless camp not far from here, the wealthy and powerful, all of your opinions have equal standing. In fact, I value the opinions of every day people more than that of politicians when it comes to politics"

Doom had bought a building in California to use as an embassy for Latveria, and had noticed the press gathering just outside the gates. He couldn't risk them noticing anything going on inside, for a couple different reasons, and decided to enact a part of his plan early and got ahold of Shield to request protection from the avengers. According to the official briefing, Victor isn't accustomed to the paparazzi as there were protective laws in place in Latveria to keep stalkers from using their jobs as excuses to endanger individuals, but the agents didn't trust it. Regardless, they assigned Scott to the job
And Scott was wary of the whole job. Working with a guy named Doctor Doom didn’t really sit well with him. Besides, guard duty to protect from paparazzi wasn’t exactly his style either.
Still, he had been asked (voluntold) to do it, so he was going to try his best despite the circumstances.

He stares her down. "I wasn't even aware you were here until I rounded the corner, how did you not hear me coming?" He walks over and starts messing with a different computer, each one seeming to be for a different purpose. "I suppose I should take it as a compliment, though, as you're reading my fanfiction..."
Nat slowly lowered herself into Doom’s computer room. And gave a soft chuckle at the size of his computer. “Now this just screams ‘top secret.’” She muttered amused dropping down to the floor and activating the computer.

It's a highly detailed slow burn spirk fanfiction in which Spock experiences a pon farr. As Natasha reads it Doom rounds the corner and spots her. He crosses his arms watching her. "Enjoying the read, agent?"

He chuckles, "unfortunately many countries aren't willing to give their citizens even the bare necessities of life for free, so I doubt it will catch on... A lot of my policies would never fly here in America, unfortunately, they are seen as communist by your government... The difference is that a communist lies, and while I can be intentionally misleading I do not lie"

"When I was studying here in America I made friends with a woman named Sue Storm... Any time I was stressed from a project not going to plan she'd make me put whatever it was down and get ice cream and it would genuinely help... She ended up with my former lab partner and biggest rival," he changes his usual language in referring to Reed Richards

"I made soup kitchens with ice cream freezers in them. The ice cream was very popular, so now it's an established brand across the country... They started calling it Victor Von Scoops and decorating the freezers with my image so I just started making it official... Folks back home like doing puns with my name to show their support, there's a bakery called Doom's Dough-main, with an image of me holding a basket of pretzels on the chalkboard menu inside. We now have yearly pun contests, kids usually end up winning," Doom smiles as he talks about the way his people show support for him

"In my experience, you last longer on a throne if your people are satisfied with their lives, I would assume a presidential office is no different," Doom sighs. "Do you want to know one of the first things I did after rebuilding homes and hospitals after I was made leader of my country?"

"The Sorcerer Supreme would disagree with you, but medical doctors tend to be a lot more picky about who calls themselves a doctor. Especially surgeons, in my experience. Yes, the kingdom used to be a monarchy, so there was a castle that we didn't want going to waste. I still haven't figured out the best form of government to pass power to the next generation, but as of now it does not matter nearly as much as proving that a socialist government is not always a communist one. We in Latveria pride ourselves on our social programs to help those in need. We have gotten our crime rate so low it's negligible, and absolutely none of those crimes are based in necessity, the needs of all are met in abundance. It is ridiculous to me that so many other world leaders think so lowly of those in need that they make it illegal to help them," he's taking a jab at America in particular with that one, as in many states it's illegal to give the homeless free things unless you are with an agency that specializes in aiding the poor and in need

"I, uh, think they're convinced it's impossible... To be fair, Cassandra is like super powerful, but we have plot armor on our side!" Wade leans back in his chair.
Blade lowers his sunglasses so she can see the glare he's giving her.
Remy gets the idea and gets up, helping Jubilee to her feet. "Well, I guess I can find the tools and help with that, Jubilee make sure Laura eats something, she ain't been finishing her food lately."
Jubilee nods, getting the idea she's not to bother Blade and Lucy, "yeah, ok"
Rogue breaks the sensor on her door and kicks it open. Thankful for her mother’s somewhat brutal training. At least it meant when she had her powers taken she could still fight.
She breaks the neck of the guard that comes to get her. Taking the dissapearin’ stick as she had dubbed them.
It sure made fighting off the others easier when you could poof them away.
She makes her way past another cell and would have kept going if she hadn’t heard a familiar voice.
“Jean-Luc?” She asked. “What’re you in for? Nevermind…”
@hiya-sugah
Jean-Luc had been boredly singing some swing song when he heard Rogue's voice and turns, ecstatic to hear a familiar voice. "Anna Marie! Oh it's so good to see you! Please tell me you're a new hire and not a captive"

He purses his lips, "it's honorary... I got expelled from Harvard over an accident where only I got hurt... So the Latveria University of Sciences gave me an honorary doctorate... After I established it in the castle just after the civil war..." He's honest, but hesitant. The Sorcerer Supreme had chewed him out for using the honorary title but it was better than being called a royal title

"My mother was a witch and my father a doctor. I grew up helping them both when no other adults could. We fled to the mountains when I was small, so it was quite often"

Doom nods and takes off his mask, pulling the hood of his cloak down while he's at it so it doesn't get in the way of eating. He is covered in burn scars, and one small patch on his cheek under his right eye that looks worse than the rest, possibly an older scar under the rest of the scarring. "If I may part some hard learned wisdom to you, Mr Lang, from one man of science to another. Never mix explosive formulas with fire magic, the atmosphere around you ignites much faster than expected and burns for much longer... Much how Oppenheimer used to fear nuclear bombs would... It's a lesson I would rather no others learn the hard way"

"Of course, in my country we allow nothing to go to waste and share all we have in abundance," Victor nods, leading him to the dinning room. "I do apologize, but I will need to remove my mask, should the sight be too grizzly for you to stomach I will leave the room, just let me know. Not everyone can handle the sight of such terrible scars"

"A traditional Romani stew my mother taught me to make," Doom replies, leading him inside. "It has rabbit in it, I know Americans tend to be rather skittish about such ingredients. If you do not want that, I also made several sides from home grown and wild foraged veggies"
