jack seems to be a pretty tactile person, isn't he? how do you feel about it?

It was a lot to get used to. I've never been a very touchy person, myself. Looking back, I think it's mostly because people tend to avoid me like the plague.

That instinct I mentioned a few posts ago? Knowing something is wrong with you, without being able to identify exactly what it is? I think Jack is the only person on Earth who's truly, unequivocally blind to it. He never thinks twice about putting a hand on my shoulder or back. He just does it.

I'm not in the habit of being dishonest, so all I'll say is this: I wouldn't be... upset, if he kept on doing it. In fact, I think I'd be more than just a little disappointed if he stopped.

I haven't seen his post, and frankly I'm kind of afraid to ask what it says.

I know you've lived with him longer than I've even known him, Race, so I'm sure you can guess at what I'm about to say. But if you want Jack to not do something, the best method is to tell him he can. That he should, even. Reverse psychology.

Or, a light flick between the eyes works, too.

Can you speak any other languages?

Technically, no. I can write in Latin, thanks to copious amounts of schoolwork and required reading. I can understand Yiddish and apply it when necessary at home, but I can't hold full conversations speaking it.

Sarah speaks Yiddish, though. Which is funny, because I've been told that I was the one clinging to Mama's skirts all the time when we were little. You'd think I would have picked more of it up from her back then.

what was your first impression of Mush?

Mush seemed a bit... gullible? Which, just to clarify, he's not. An optimist is what he is, though he never actively tries to see the best in people—he just does.

I think I'm the polar opposite. I don't know when exactly it happened, but at some point I just started assuming everybody in the world was out to get me.

Like my first day at the distribution center. Before I could even blink, Jack had me roped into being selling partners. He used my own little brother against me. My first thought was why? What does he want from me? There's always a catch, and even after all these years of watching my own back, I'm no better at detecting it than I was a decade ago.

Mush isn't the kind of guy to set traps, or take advantage. None of them are. Besides Jack, I think I'm closest to Mush out of all the guys at the lodge. He just says whatever he's thinking, he doesn't lie or keep secrets. He's straightforward, and effortlessly kind. I never knew how refreshing it would be to have a person like that around until now.

Someone who can tolerate me for more than five minutes.

But ideally - empathetic, I guess. Open-minded. Somebody who can easily place themselves in the shoes of others. Ambitious, inviting sense of humor, doesn't take themselves too seriously, willing to communicate. A good listener, a go-getter. Charismatic?

As for looks, uh... I haven't given it much thought. Tall, I guess. Nice eyes. Logically I can't really afford to be picky, nor am I looking for a partner right now at all.

Nice is one word for them. I'd say yes if they weren't so piercing. He has this tendency of looking right through you, like glass.
