Hike the famous Abel Tasman Coast Track
Tumblr media
With 2500 hours of sunshine a year, Abel Tasman is one of New Zealand's best weather regions. The way to the Wainui Falls Track is indicated on the board with 2 km and 40 minutes. I don't know if the distance is correct, but in 40 minutes you won't make the track; unless you start running without looking right and left. I was glad that I had a bottle of water with me, because at the latest on the way back one gets thirsty. If one drives or walks back to Marahau, there is a small parking place at the beginning of the beach from which a kind of promenade leads alongside the water. Thus, one takes off the shoes, rolls up the trousers again and gets some help from the skipper on board. The small boat despite the waves with its eighteen passengers. What an experience, if you have only sailed with big ships so far. Not only because of the exhausting day we went to bed so early, but also because we have to get up early the next morning. Actually one wishes there was nobody coming at all.
> It is fed by rainwater which collects through the mountain in extensive caves.
This is another possible end of the hike.
This is thin enough to make the landscape above the earth sustainable - Volcanic halt.
You can also change some of your settings.
> After that we went into the forest again and after a few climbs we had again a gigantic view, only this time from the other side. So we could once again see the path over the beach we had just walked. From the beach the way leads first past a small restaurant (for those who have to go to the toilet quickly) and from there into the New Zealand jungle. Those who started early can still follow the detour to the "Awaroa Lodge" on the way down from the saddle and enjoy cake, cool beer or a meal on the terrace. After a short gourmet break on the beach of Bark Bay we lace up our hiking boots. From now on we continue on foot along the Abel Tasman Coast Track. If you always wanted to feel like Indiana Jones (only without a machete), this is the place to be! The track winds through dense jungle and is sometimes so wild and overgrown as if you were really hiking through untouched nature.
Information about the Abel Tasman National Park:
Since none of the four of us had a pot, we did not take a cooker with us and bought a lot of food beforehand. Together with Gero I took four packages of toast, peanut butter, jam and lots of fruit. But you practically buy that when you walk the most popular hiking trail in New Zealand. A rather short but really exhausting path leads steeply off the main trail, right into the middle of the dense rainforest.
