Hi everyone!
Good evening!
Sorry for my absense, but the past few days have been quite hectic. We were allowed to go home on Monday and since then we've had quite a few visits from people who wanted to meet Ben. My parents arrived Monday evening, bringing food for us in the process, shocking both me and Will by being a lot nicer than usual. I don't know what my sister told them, but it sure has worked.
My sister also stops by a lot and has been a great help the past few days, by both supporting us and doing some shopping for us. I've been pretty emotional the past few days, and cried a lot, but she told me it was all normal and that it was just because of everything that happened in combination with hormones. Insecurities have kicked in during those days and she and Will really reassured me and talked in to me during those moments. I can't say the insecurities have gone, but I'm doing better which is a huge relief.
Benjamin is doing absolutely great as well and it seems like Grace is intend on spoiling him.
If you have any questions, feel free to send them! I'll be online more often to answer any kind of question you feel like asking, now that we are slowly getting into a sort of rhytmh.
I hope you will all have a nice evening!

Will pretty much said it all. We couldn't be more happier or relieved with the birth of Benjamin and we'd like to thank you all for your support.

Introducing… Benjamin James Schuester!
Born August 24th at 8:11 am at 5lbs 11oz and 18 inches long. Breathing was a bit of a scare for us when we welcomed our little boy, but after a rocky start, both Ben and Emma are doing well!

Oh Boy
Oh Boy.
Location: Hospital
Time Frame: August 24th, around 10 am.
General notes: Set mere hours after the birth of Will & Emma's son, moment between Emma & her sister. Selfpara. Continued in another para.
Emma’s brown eyes followed her husband out of her room as he went to check if he could get any news on their son, who had been born a little over two hours ago. The lack of news, other than the ‘funny breathing’, was driving them both mad. Emma desperately needed to know if he was alright, what was going on and when she finally got to see him. Properly, that was. She only had caught a glimpse of him as soon as they had gotten him out of her with the help of a C-section, as, despite the contractions, she stopped progressing when she was about 5 centimeters dilated, while her blood pressure remained high, which probably would’ve caused him to be in great distress if they had tried to continue the natural birth. She couldn’t get out of her room, both because she just came out of surgery and because of the fact that the epidural hadn’t worn off yet, and therefore Will had gone off, after some persuading from her side and lying her phone in reach so that she could send and read text messages to or from him and several family members.
She took a few shaky breaths as the minutes seemed to go by even slower now that she was alone. She hadn’t informed anyone yet, also because of her worry, but now that she was all alone and wanted Will back, she decided to at least make one call to her sister. She would know how to make time go by just that little faster until her husband returned, and she had to talk to at least someone.
Her finger closed around the device and she slowly scrolled through her phone book, stopping at her sisters name and pressing the call button.
‘Em?’ Her sister answered almost immediately, and it didn’t surprise Emma at all. Her sister always had her phone with her.
‘He’s born.’ Emma’s voice was soft and shaky and she could almost hear her sister think.
‘Oh boy,’ Grace said. ‘There is a but, isn’t there?’ she said. Emma could faintly hear her sister running through her house.
‘They said he was breathing funny,’ she murmured into the phone. ‘But I don’t know anything else and…’ Emma’s voice was shaking and she carefully, trying not to have much a tug on the IV in her hand, wiped away some tears.
‘Oh fuck. Hold on a minute, Em – DAVID!’ Emma waited while her sister shouted some instructions to her husband, who was probably upstairs, telling him that she left immediately and that he was to wait for updates from her.
‘Okay, Em, on my way to you, but do continue. When was he born?’
‘A little over two hours ago. They did a C-section because I stopped progressing while the contractions kept on coming and my blood pressure remained too high to make it a safe natural one. Will went to the NICU to get some information but other than saying that he was breathing funny, we didn’t hear anything. He went again just a moment ago and I just had to talk to someone because I have no idea what’s going on and I want to see him but I have no idea when I am able to and I’m just so scared that something is wrong with him, also because we won’t hear a thing…’ She shook her head, trying to hold back more tears.
‘Jesus, Em. I’m almost there already, okay? God bless the fact that I live so close to the hospital. Just hold on. Everything will be fine. I know it’s hard to believe right now, but babies are stronger than you think and they’re probably also doing some routine tests. Every baby needs to undergo those. Oh bloody hell, stupid parking. Just a mo-‘ Emma heard some more cursing before her sister came back to her. ‘Anyway. It could just have been fluid in the lungs which normally gets pushed out with a natural birth. If it had gone worse, you’ll would’ve heard by now.’
‘You think?’ Emma asked as she heard her sister move through lots of people.
‘Yeah. Do you really think that doctors want to face the wrath of new parents? Especially when they’re first-time parents? ‘Course not.’
‘You have a point,’ Emma muttered.
‘Of course I have a point. I’m your sister. I always have a point.’ Emma smiled a bit at those words.
Liar.’ She heard her sister chuckle and looked up as the door opened and her sister broke off the call.
‘Oh Em,’ Grace said. ‘Okay, I may not always have a point, but mind you, I do have one very often,’ she continued as she walked into the room, grabbed a chair, threw her bag on a side table and sat down next to her, wiping the tears off of Emma’s face before handing her a kerchief. ‘Anyway. I have a plan. We’ve got to distract you a bit, because now that your son is out and I’m an aunt all over again, we’ve got to make sure your blood pressure won’t rise again. It’ll probably be a bit high still, but we don’t want it any higher. I could tell you a funny anecdote which had David absolutely mortified and speechless when it happened, but had me in stitches when he recounted it to me, or you could always try to get some sleep or something else, but something has to happen. Maybe I should tell the story anyway.’ Emma smiled a bit at her sisters words.
‘Do I even want to know?’ she asked. ‘No idea, but I am going to tell you anyway. So like David went swimming with Daisy. Well, as far as you can call it swimming from her side, but that doesn’t matter. Anyway, they went to like dress in the same room at the same time, like a private booth, when she suddenly asks why he has a ponytail and she and I don’t, as, you see, normally I take her swimming. Of course she was like, referring to his male parts, but he had no idea how to explain it. When he told me I couldn’t stop laughing for minutes. I have no idea how she even thought of that, but it doesn’t matter.’ Emma smiled a bit. ‘Thank god I won’t have to endure that for the next couple of years, or maybe ever. I wouldn’t want to have been in his position.’ Grace smirked. ‘Never say never, but I’m glad that I wasn’t either.’

Do you plan to breastfeed? If so, for how long?
Yes, I am! I’m not sure for how long, however. I think I’ll just see how everything goes and then decide later.

What've you two been doing to help pass the time?
We’ve been talking a lot! Mostly remembering times and laughing about things we did or happened in Glee Club, for instance. That, and a lot of reading, watching movies or playing games.

Note
Is your family aware you're in the hospital?
Yes, they are.

My sister stops by a lot, actually, as she works in the hospital and tends to bring magazines or books or other things to get me relaxed and make time go by faster.

We have a middle name picked out, and the first name will be decided upon once we meet him.
