The 93rd Special Forces Company of the Kosko Republican Army were tasked with pushing out Chamois insurgents from a village overlooking Autostrade A3. The eastern route of the main highway had been targeted by snipers of the Army of Chamois Liberation. Clearing operations were supported by a Kosko Special Forces tank company with their Prench-supplied MBTs and Mustang Marines from the KOSINFOR peacekeeping force operating IST-90s.

Shout out to my favorite multiplayer game of all time, Battlefield 1. Fun and unique equipment, fascinating obscure weapons and iconic tanks and aircraft. Game design unmatched by any other large scale shooter, with distinct classes easily recognizable by their silhouettes giving you a clear understanding of the capabilities of each enemy player. At a glace you can recognize Battlefield 1 screenshots, where every other game almost looks interchangeable.

I've sunk countless hours into this phenomenal game and to this day no other has lived up to it.

Glorious cooperation! The reclusive Crimson Empire has sent a tank detachment to participate in joint exercises with the tankers of the Mustang Defense Forces. These exercises emphasized teamwork in mixed units, as well as clear battlefield communication. The crews had practice doing burm drills, stationary shots and shots on moving targets. The Mustang Defense Forces fielded IST-90/2 with their 105 howitzers. The Crimson Empire's HKP-IAs armed with 115mm cannon. The ISTs served as assault guns demolishing simulated fortifications, while the Smilodons picked off armored targets on the move. Later in the exercise the teams practiced complex terrain navigation and cross platform familiarization. The Mustang tankers balked at the prospect of servicing the interleaved road wheels of the HKP-IA Smilodon, having never seen a more convoluted suspension. A Crimson tank crew took a joyride in an IST-90/2, taking great pleasure in the agility of the light tank with its twin transmission. This exercise was hugely popular with the troops who bonded over the shared misery that is the tanker profession.

Sort of a followup to the last question:

It's my understanding that "Cope Cages" are regarded as more of a stop-gap solution for a problem better resolved by a proper Active Protection System, but the Condor's plate looks like a much more integral part of its design.

To actually get to my question: is this an intentional worldbuilding decision to show that the Condor is a cheaper, intermediary design or was it a purely aesthetic choice?

Yes, it is somewhat of a stopgap. I should have talked about it specifically in the post. The Condor was made as a response to the vast quantities of armor rolling off the production lines of the Zebra Empire and Prench Republic, seeing widespread adoption by the geopolitical enemies of the Griffon Kingdom. Keeping costs down was a priority for the griffons, hence no active protection and the rudimentary nature of the cope cage.

What’s the purpose for the top armour on the Condor?

Wouldn’t that make it more difficult to bail in case of a fire or something? Or are the exits moved around to a more awkward position?

In recent conflicts there has been an increased threat of FPV drones and bomber drones, leading to many countries adopting anti-drone armor on the turrets of MBTs. There are many disadvantages such as limited visibility and situational awareness, but the anti-drone cage addresses the vulnerability of the MBT to top attack munitions.

A Condor Mk3 Main Battle Tank in service with the Hippogriff Land Forces during counter-insurgency action against Zebra-backed paramilitary forces. The Griffon Kingdom licensed the Condor to Hippogriffia and heavily invested in the country's state-run factories. The Hippogriff-Griffon pact is aligned against the Zebra Empire and Equestria, with near constant low-intensity skirmishing on the frontiers.
