When we used to homeschool, “the world was our oyster” for meaningful content to learn from. I never called myself a teacher, rather, a facilitator. I provided resources based on their interests to expose them to the traditional things people are expected to learn in school. Learning was multi-disciplinary, fun and intrinsic. There wasn’t a need for rewards or testing. My husband and I did that for 20 years, K-8th, with all three of our children. How’s your Memorial Day going? I fed the bees some sugar water for them to build comb. I gave them 1/4 cup of bee pollen patty. I put mint in the top corner of their box to rid nosema naturally. I purchased a swarm about a month ago that a fellow beekeeper extracted from the wall of a house. There are only 2 deep frames worth of bees. They have to build comb before the queen has any place to lay her eggs. I’m helping them along with that. For about two weeks I’ve been writing the story for my short documentary “A Sound Life.” I have 95 pages of interview responses over five years with Richard Beggs. Next I’ll move all the clips into a FCPx movie project timeline following my script. I’m getting closer to a first draft, a director’s cut of the film! Yes! I’m still engaged with the material and enjoying the tedious process. This film is worth my effort. Sitting here for the 1st time having a snack in my yard. Forced break. My problem? My FCPx editing software AP, a.k.a my entire film project is not opening since the last PG&E power outage on Sunday, February 9th, 2020. I’m sitting here with a slightly sickening feeling while I stare at the beautiful San Francisco Bay listening to birds tweet and urban sounds. I’m awaiting a call back from an Apple technician who said he’d talk to some co-workers and give me a call in an hour. “I can’t tell you how many 1000s of hours I’ve put into the film.” I told him. “I mean, my whole entire project is at stake.” He said he knew that. So now you know.
