I always find myself looking at Alexander Wang’s work. I love the feel of his collections, it has a great fluidity to it. I like the strong contrast imagery especially as most of his garments are in black and white. I like the attitude the models carry across also.

Recently, Ive been looking at brands that I like and how they present themselves in order to improve my own presentation skills. I feel like my work relies heavily on an aesthetic/vibe and I really want to carry this through into my technical drawings, photography and illustrations. I love how fashion orientated and styled these photographs are, and that The Kooples also take beautiful detailed pictures of their garments on white backgrounds.

Here is a Fabric board I have made for this project. This consists of Ripstop, Sweatshirt jersey, Nylon stretch net, Lycra and matt black taping.

Some earlier designs for my Autumn/Winter range. I really liked the idea of having one simple sleek piece. After designing these, I decided to design a dress with built in shorts.

My final range plans. My project has been inspired by the tennis court itself all the way through, with references to the court lines and tennis nets. I’ve used tape over seams to not only reinforce the garment but mirror the lines on the court. The mesh panelling on the dress and shorts is for ventilation and also in reference to the net on the racket and net.

Final pictures of my dress. I can confirm that it is extremely comfortable and easy to move in. It may be simple but I’m very happy with the outcome of this project!

Looking at mini fashion films. As my work is so much about styling and aesthetic, I think it would be helpful to show my garment off in a film. I love the quirky, comical side of this film and I love Alicia Vikander.

Here is my technical pack. I have tried to improve my technical drawings to make them look less flat and more interesting. I have also used icons to show the properties of the fabric.

From traditional to modern. This project I have been looking at how I can move tennis wear away from tradition. And what better way to do this than the colour black. Its strong, bold, fierce, and flattering; perfect for tennis.

Ive been trying to develop my technical drawings using my wacom. I really like this my fluid style of technical drawing, I feel it’s more interesting to look at.

My 4 final illustrations for my tennis collection. My aim is to create clothes that bridge the gap between performance wear and everyday wear and this is why I have chosen to do two active illustrations and two more casual illustrations to show how my designs can be worn.

A day of drawing. Ive been practicing my illustrations using my wacom. I like that the lines look more free and fluid.

As I really liked the way my linen blazer turned out I want to incorporate it into my adidas tennis project. I am designing a blazer/ trench waterproof coat that can be worn over the tennis dress and still look  fashionable. I have also included the ball bag as I feel that it really goes with this look.
