mohammed is pleading with me not to leave him. please do not leave him either. by the grace of god they've been able to find a place to stay but rent is exorbiant, food is scarce and mariam is PREGNANT- i do not want to imagine what will happen to my friends if they have to go back to living in a tent, or in the streets. but make no mistake, an apartment is no safety from israels bombing either. all it means is shelter from the elements and a clean place for a pregnant woman. not safety.

I want to highlight and help Mohammed @fadi-018 and his wife Mariam @mariam-fadi. Mohammed and Mariam together with their 5 year old son Fadi have been displaced more than 5 times since October. Mariam is currently pregnant! They're trying to fundraise €15,000 for surgery for their son Fadi and medical treatment for Mohammed who contracted hepatitis, as well as basic necessities. They have been fundraising since MAY and are only at €2,154 of their goal!!

Before this current round of aggression Mohammed was a cab driver and Mariam was an engineer. Their son Fadi loves to take care of animals- especially his cat! Unfortunately due to Israel's cruelty his cat was killed. Can you imagine the pain of watching your child's joy and health diminish day by day? Mohammed and Mariam don't have to imagine.

They need your help to take care of their son and their coming baby!

& more broadly it just comes down to like. why is it apparently soooo tempting to decribe any like, pleasurable or compulsive or unwanted habit as an addiction, and what do we mean by that. often there's an assumption that invoking a word used in clinical context means having recourse to a specific, defined, observed biological disease state but ofc this is often not true and is never true where psychiatric nosology is concerned. so when you say that [eating disorders / BFRBs / whatever] are addictive or are addictions, really you're just defining compulsion and addiction in reference to one another and trying simultaneously to use each to legitimate the other. it's silly at best and more likely to resurface in clinical efforts to limit patient autonomy than anything else
