my attempt at a poem

        “Where you’re from we might be fictional, but here we’re real.” Zhu Li said, a bit disturbed at the idea of people watching her life in a mover. She even shook her head at the thought. 

        “It’s a little late for me to be having an existential crisis. We’re testing that weapon tomorrow. You should find somewhere to safely hide that pin.” Just before the mention of the distributor pin, her voice lowered in case any guards were near outside of the tent.

        It might’ve been obvious to Zhu Li if she hadn’t been so distracted with both work and grief over Varrick and Bolin. She pulled her hair out of its usual bun, combing through it with her fingers as it fell to her shoulders. She stopped the moment Prudence mentioned something about a multiverse.

        “I never thought the multiverse would be anything more than a concept.. This is so.. amazing, really.”

        "The Pilgrim?" Zhu Li repeated, sitting on her cot and removing her boots, though she never took her eyes off of Prudence as she spoke. "Like someone who travels, right?"

        She removed her coat after that, folding it carefully and setting it off to the side as she waited for the other to continue.

        “True.” Zhu Li agreed with that statement, though like the other she kept her voice low. As she walked, she listened, and once they were at her tent she made sure they were both in and no one was around before she carried the conversation on. “If it’s hard to explain, I won’t force you to try.”

        Hard or not, listening to Varrick for so many years and helping him with his insane inventions opened her mind to so many possibilities in the world. There was a good chance that she could understand whatever Prudence had to say.

        “I don’t want to be alone, but you don’t need to stay with me It’s late.” Zhu Li frowned, reaching up and removing her glasses so she could rub her eyes. She was exhausted. 

        The following day would certainly be stressful; she expected to be scolded by Baatar Jr. because of a failed weapon test. She knew him well enough, his goal was to please Kuvira and he would be mad at anyone who stood in the way of him achieving that, like any sensible partner would be.

        The assistant placed her glasses back on her face and began walking, expecting Prudence to at least walk her back to her tent
