Hi all.

On the 11th of August, my elderly cat was admitted to a 24/7 vet clinic due to his rapidly deteriorating health. What started as a simple disinterest in life a few days ago has turned into frequent retching/vomiting that stops him from sleeping, breathing difficulties and refusal to eat. When he's not actively retching, he's drooling, licking his mouth due to the awful taste of bile and in a constant state of discomfort.

Since we brought him in, we've discovered that he's got a small amount of liquid around his chest and lungs, a large ulcer present on his tongue, a faint heart murmur and inflammation in the mouth.

Along with the costs of his medication, we've got to pay for his X-rays, bloodwork and oral exams. Any and all finances that are donated during the next week will be used to pay for these bills.

the thing about astarion is that i do think that he is COMICALLY his own worst enemy but i also recognize that the reason for that is that he hit a sharp genre shift at 100000 mph. one second you're the hot and kinda tragic but expendable minion of a d&d boss and the next you're the romancable companion in the party. this little man was built to have his lore discovered in a notebook while looting his corpse after you've killed cazador and all the sudden everyone's like hey astarion. do you want to sit by the fire and tell us about yourself :) we all like you and want you happy :) and he's like what the fuuuuck. what the fuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkk????

I really love that Astarion has such a sweet reaction to Tav offering to be a friend to him rather than a romantic partner. It's a beautiful representation of how friendship can be just as important - perhaps even more important, in some circumstances - as romance.

Headcanon

In my headcanon, Astarion was born in a noble corrupt family. His family ruin people's life to the point where he got isolated by the kids in the city. He then took the same path as his uncle, but quickly realized his uncle is no better than the rest of his family. Eventually, he became someone he despise when he was a little kid. A corrupt magistrate.

When he went missing, his family tried to look for him only to be rejected by the locals due to their terrible reputation. Their presistence of finding their missing son leads them to their own death. When Cazador slaughter his entire family, no one actually cares enough to continue his search or finding out what caused the Ancunín family's massacre.
