my idea of a new tim drake comic run. based off my tweet below + holy yapfest batman

okay so it would be tim going off to college. i’m placing him back in California idc. would be nice to be in SF but not any great undergrad programs for tim. okay anyways. he drops red robin. he goes to get his education and makes a lot of new friends. enjoying the life of a civilian. but at the back of his head, the feeling of wanting to Do Something gnaws at him. bad things still happen regardless of whether or not he stays a vigilante, and maybe something bad happens to a friend of his. with a heavy heart, he picks up a new mask and a new mantle. in a new city, new rogues, new everything!!!

his identities were made for a mission. i think that’s important! following that central theme, i think it would be great if his last arc/identity is one he chooses for himself and not a mission. robin was a mission for responsibility, for duty, for gotham and batman. red robin was a mission for bruce, a sort of punishment for himself, an undying drive to prove himself. so, this last identity could be one he still chooses, but this time, for himself and for a freedom of new beginnings, not tethered by batman. also he’s a natural born detective i need DC to explore this again

also, not required but it would be nice if he was a medic-type with the whole plague doctor mask. i’d imagine he already knows a lot about first aid and medical stuff in general, and especially more after he lost his spleen. tim is also like spider-man to me so it would be nice if he was the sole protector of san francisco or wherever he’s situated for college. i would kill to see a run like this 🙇

📩. ♡ when you’re feeling domestic and the only cure is to write fluff. i was literally on reddit reading about people’s reviews of different comics so i could be accurate w/ this.

BRUCE WAYNE. ♡ He’s SURPRISINGLY GOOD AT laundry. Years of keeping his Batman suit pristine and bloodstain-free has made him a master at fabric care. He knows exactly which detergents work on what stains and has an almost scientific approach to washing. Your clothes have never looked better.

Bruce is SURPRISINGLY BAD AT grocery shopping. This man will come home with the most random assortment of items. Somehow buys seven different types of pasta but forgets milk. Gets distracted by gadgets in every aisle. “Bruce, we needed bread.” “Yes, but look at this vegetable spiralizer.”

DICK GRAYSON. ♡ The wonder boy is SURPRISINGLY GOOD AT dishwashing. Something about the methodical, meditative nature of it appeals to him. Plus, all those years of circus life taught him to be efficient with cleanup. He actually enjoys doing dishes while talking about your respective days.

Dick is SURPRISINGLY BAD AT folding fitted sheets. This man can flip through the air with perfect precision, but a fitted sheet will defeat him every time. You’ll find him wrestling with it in the bedroom, cursing under his breath. Eventually just balls it up, shoves it in the closet and comes to you with a pout on his lips.

JASON TODD. ♡ He’s SURPRISINGLY GOOD AT ironing. He’s self conscious about the way his clothes look. It was rare that he looked put-together when he was younger, so now—in the present, he takes the time to iron his clothes. Your clothes are also always perfectly pressed. He finds it oddly soothing after a rough patrol, and he’s weirdly proud of his crisp collar technique.

Jay is (not) SURPRISINGLY BAD AT cooking anything that follows a recipe. Because of his rough upbringing, Jason learned to get creative with whatever scraps were available, which means he approaches every meal like a mad scientist. Letting him in the kitchen means accepting that dinner will either be surprisingly genius or completely inedible—there’s no middle ground. You’ve learned to keep cereal as backup.

TIM DRAKE. ♡ Tim is SURPRISINGLY GOOD AT deep cleaning/organizing. When he actually gets around to it, Tim goes full systematic mode. Color-codes everything, creates the most efficient storage solutions, researches the best cleaning products. Your closet has never been more organized.

He is SURPRISINGLY BAD AT regular maintenance. Will do a perfect deep clean and then let dishes pile up for a week. Notices the bathroom needs cleaning, makes a mental note, and then forgets for two weeks.

DUKE THOMAS. ♡ Duke is SURPRISINGLY GOOD AT plant care. Has amazing intuition for what plants need. Your apartment is basically a greenhouse now because he keeps bringing home “rescues” from the store. Somehow keeps even finicky plants alive and thriving. The plants are just like him—unpredictable in the best way.

He is SURPRISINGLY BAD AT vacuuming. Doesn’t have the patience for it. Misses obvious spots, doesn’t move furniture, forgets to empty the bag. Will vacuum around objects rather than moving them. “I got the main areas” he says, while there’s clearly a Dorito under the coffee table he vacuumed around.

His eyes are so full of love you feel like you could drown in them. When you say yes, he lifts you into his arms and spins you around, whispering, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life loving you.” (He’s such a mediocre man proposing 😭🌚 h/j)

The Ceremony: Dick watches you walk down the aisle, completely captivated, like he’s seeing the sun rise for the first time. He's a little devil. A little helion even if he isn't angry, he wont listen for anything, bribery does not interest him, he's climbing walls and swinging on light fixtures that definitely are NOT sturdy enough.

"Little Dickiebird" likes to play 'Hide and Tackle you while screeching' then run off laughing at your heart attack,

When he finally wears himself out, he falls asleep in your arms with a sleepy "Thanks for playing with me today" his accent is thick, far more than you've heard from him as an adult, and while you look down at him, unscarred and and content, sunkissed skin not yet paled by Gotham's gloom,

This is the little boy they remember and told stories about, he looks every bit the little angel as you smooth back his curls. Any interest you might've had in having a biological child with Dick is gone though, he was a little devil.

You had seen pictures of when Bruce first adopted Jason, a small cherished album that Alfred holds dear.

But to see your six-foot-fuckall, gunslinging 'bad boy' boyfriend reduced to a tiny, smaller than he should be, ("stunted by lack of proper nourishment", Alfred's voice supplied) in a soft and warm prim and proper sweater that apparently used to be his favorite, staring up at you with shining, trusting, eyes?

"Oh my god" he's so tiny.

He's so tiny and innocent despite the already old scar on his chin and all he's been through even prior.

So small and still hopeful, not yet broken by it all and you want to cry, to wrap him in your arms and give him anything he wants.

"D'you wanna see the library? I can show you" he offers, reaching out his hand to lead you.

You nod quickly and try to smile, taking his small hand, so, so small, and try resist hugging him "I'd love that."

"Sometimes Alfred brings me cookies in there, they're the best!" his grin shows two missing teeth and you don't think your heart can take this.

"Of course, master Jason. I'd be happy to." The old man was diligent as ever, and wiping of his tear left unmentioned.

Tim Drake

When you come to find Tim, approximately 8 years old (or maybe just small, your Timmy always has been perfectly petite) and in a sweater vest, staring up at you like it's a question, you really don't know what to do except stare right back.

Weirder things have happened of course, but you're at a loss.

Until he finally speaks up, "Bruce Wayne is Batman." His first words make your eyebrows raise.

"And Dick Grayson of the Flying Grayson's is Robin." he adds, just as sure. "Would you like to see my evidence? I have pictures too."

"Sure, Timmy."

You quickly learn his only real interest he wants to speak about is Batman and Robin, and is more than happy to sit on your lap while showing you his pictures of the duo, rambling on his theories and keening with pride whenever you compliment his work and how good a 'little detective' he is.

A blush burns on his pale cheeks when you praise how smart he is to crack a mystery like their identities, and you can clearly see your Tim in his younger self, always a bashful genius.

And likely already an insomniac for these nighttime vigilante stalkings.

You hold him while he tells you about how important Robin is for Batman, changes in his behavior and mannerisms from before and after Dick came in to play, and that no one could ever be as good a Robin as Dick Grayson was. The bit of fire in his tone at that makes you snort, trying to hide it as you pat him gently.

Maybe Jason was telling the truth about finding "hate mail" about being 'the worst robin ever' and rather malicious doodles taped to gargoyles he landed by back in the day.

Damian Wayne

You had heard plenty of how Damian was as a child.

Rude, overly proper, a "demon child", "more hateful than a chihuahua dipped in the Lazarus pit", to name a few.

And you knew your Damian to always be rather...intense with anything he did, sharp wit and sharper tongue he rarely cared to hold,

But somehow, your beloved boyfriend, ever a doting romantic at heart, shrunk to a cold eyed and hateful 10 year old glaring up at you and calling you, basically an unworthy whore, made you understand how his brothers felt.

When Damian had asked you, in the same flat and unforgiving tone that he still uses when thoroughly disdained "And who are you" like an insult, more than a statement, you were honest.

He knows enough magic shit anyway,

"I'm your significant other, in the future" You gave a smile, the same soft and genuine one that makes his heart flutter later on.

As a very egotistical child on his own pedestal now though, he just scoffs as your kindness 'weak', his thought adds while looking at you.

"You could be nothing more than a courtesan, a 'bed warmer' as mother calls them. But you would be unfitting even as that."
