PROVENANCE ON THE GERARD IMAGE

I've had an extended convo with the TikTok OP about the Gerard image. She is very sweet and was very kind and helpful to me.

The TikTok OP got the photo from a very very large (127K members) Facebook MCR fangroup (which is private). The photo was posted into that group by an account proclaiming to be Donna Way, among a bunch of other photos of Gerard, in a Happy Birthday Gerard post. Whether or not she is actually Donna Way is not known. The TikTok OP and others commented/messaged that account in attempt to confirm the account & the photo's reality. The post was then deleted from the group.

The TikTok OP shared the photo out that they got from the group (NOT from Donna Way's facebook page/personal page in any way, it was posted into the large group) just thinking it was another Gerard photo that everyone already knew/had seen. She didn't steal or create or AI generate it in any way - just shared it on TikTok after it was posted in the large group.

The TikTok OP told me some of the messages she's been receiving have been mean or harassing, so just to make it 100% clear, she didn't steal or fake anything, only reposted a photo from a huge group that she didn't even realize was new.

No one, tiktok OP included, has any idea about the truth of the identity of the "Donna Way" account which posted the photo in the group. The behavior of deleting the post when questioned could equally easily be from a confused older woman on facebook as it could be from someone impersonating/lying. So the short version is, we still have no idea if the photo was real, but it wasn't stolen or generated by the OP we know.

I may try to join the group and message the admins later, but I haven't had the chance to yet.
