Fun story time.

Old job, you couldn't have 'unnatural colored hair". I donated my hair at a sallon for kiddoa qho nwwded wigs and got a free color. Ended up with 6 colors and a mowhawk.

Work didn't care for 3 months, I got a color touch up. Suddenly they decided to care?? So. Fuck em.

It's within my job description at the time that I may have to weld. For safety I have to wear welding caos. Picked up the most OBNOXIOUS hats I could find. Dinosaur ones, video games, pretty ladies. You name it.

V.P. found this shit hilarious as it was ridiculous and came down on HR about it until they changed the rules. I miss working for her.

Here's a fun story of malicious compliance to brighten your day:

Until recently, a few people in my office had these desk shades to combat the obnoxious fluorescent lights, which is very helpful for people (like me) with migraines or other light-sensitivity issues.

A few days ago, everyone who has them was told to take them down. Different people were given different reasons - It violates fire code (it doesn't) / It blocks line of sight (sort of?). Since this goes against the existing status quo, the union reps (my beloved) jumped on it. Someone jokingly suggested using umbrella hats instead, since hats are allowed in the dress code. Today, the union reps are passing out these ridiculous things in protest:

If the rules are absurd, the resistance should match.

The thing nobody tells you about self-deprecation is that it’s a gateway drug to making other people feel shitty about themselves.

You think you’re only hurting yourself with your crappy self talk but if I complain about how bad my writing/stories are on main, say they’re garbage or that I don’t understand why anyone would read them, then what does that say about the people who love them? I’m a popular writer in my fandom and I know that objectively, I’m a good writer. If I call myself shit, then how are people going to think I feel about their work?

Making anything is hard and we all complain, but I think it’s important to differentiate between “I think this is genuinely bad” and “I think things about this need to be reworked to be better” and “I hate everything so I need to go eat something” and tweak what you do about it accordingly.

Sometimes that means tweaking your audience and sometimes it means keeping that shit to yourself entirely.

Just learned about the Aquilan Shields.
