A School Trip

@danni-gurrl mentioned that she wanted to see the Astro Corp Academy so I sent back a time cord and Danni was here at the Academy...

I show her that somethings change and stay the same at the same time. A college quad is still a college quad with students going from class to class. Granted now some of those students were not born on Earth or even human. There are a lot of different beings living here, studying a wide range of subjects, every field of science, engineering, art, literature, music, fashion, history. The Academy has a wide of range of fields to study. Some beings specialize, while others study it all. But the most important, the students study and learn about each other and in doing so, learn about themselves. Oh yes... we have flying cars...

Our first stop was to the Cybernetics Lab to get Danni fitted out with some proper implants so that she will have a firm grip on things as well as a strong backbone to get her through the rough patches in her life away from the Castle. The implants can conceal themselves so that no one knows that they are there. There was a time when it would freak people out to see implants but in this day and age it is commonly accepted and whether to show or not to show is a matter of personal preference.

Here, Danni is in front of the Common Ground statue showing off some of her implants. The statue shows the various beings that are signatories to the Common Ground Accords, the foundation and guiding principles of the Galactic Coalition. The core of the accords is the understanding that no matter where we come from there are things that we have in common and that from that common ground, we are stronger and can accomplish greater things together while still retaining our individual distinctiveness.

Here, Danni shows off more of her new implants in front of the Explorers Memorial dedicated to the astronauts who gave their lives in humankind's first tentative steps away from the cradle of Earth and the steps along the way to finding other beings, laying the foundation of the Galactic Coalition.

Nikki shows off (her implants) some of the more mundane aspects of the Academy. Libraries and classrooms never seem to change, just the way in which the information is presented. A thoughtful student snaps a picture of the two of us together.

A couple of things that most schools don't have a dockyard with sea going vessels so students get used to handling a ship in an unforgiving environment and then in orbit, a starport with space ships so students learn how to handle ships in the most unforgiving of environments... space.

Another thing that most schools don't have. A working spatial temporal portal which is shared by the History and Science Departments. This is what Nikki uses to get around to all the interesting places and the interesting beings who are there, beings like Danni.

Knowing how much of an aficionado Danni is of fashion, Nikki takes her to the Academy's Museum of Fashion, showing off the fashion styles from across time and from the different worlds of the Coalition. A photo drone snaps a shot of the two of us.

Danni and Nikki grab a meal in the Student Union as the students unwind and learn the important art of partying together.

Nikki takes Danni on a late night rocket cycle ride. The force screens keeps the wind from messing up the hair. Danni sees the vast glowing cities of future Earth, but also sees an area with just a few flickers of camp fires. Danni asks what that area is and Nikki says that she will show her in the morning.

The next morning Nikki takes Danni along with a group of cadets into the reclamation area. The Earth had seen some rough times since Danni's time, with disasters both natural and created. It had taken time, but Earth and all of it's inhabitants were on the mend. There were scars however. The ruins of once proud cities, now crumbling piles of ruble, yet within that ruble clues as to the lives of who had gone before. There were formal reclamation projects with droids working to clear and study the debris, reclaiming what was once lost. The Academy routinely sent out cadets to help with the project.

Danni worked through the morning with some droids and uncovered an old pub, with a well stocked and preserved cellar. The droids called a break to sample some of their find while Nikki and Danni went back to the Academy for a...

Fusion concert put on by the Academy music department. The music was a blend of the various forms of music not only from Earth but of the many different sounds from across the Coalition.

After the concert, Nikki shows Danni the Observatory that showed the starfields from numerous different probes out amongst the galaxy. Nikki turns on a copy of some music that she had made at Mystery Castle and they stood there, watching the stars and listening to the music together.

Danni and Nikki take a leisurely stool across the quad as the night begins to fade into the day.

In Nikki's quarters, the two friends share some drinks.

Danni lets Nikki know how much she appreciated the visit to the Academy.

Later in the morning, Nikki took Danni to the Academy book shop where Danni got an Academy t-shirt and other fashion accessories to take back to the Castle.

Danni and Nikki hug outside the gates of the Academy before Danni has to head back to the Castle. Nikki knows that she will go to the Castle again and hopes more of her friends from there will visit her at the Academy.

all we need is a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick... the girls were top of their class in organic chemistry, engineering and mixology... just don't have any open flames...

Another day at the races

Astrogurl Nikki Pink slips back from the Academy to meet up with @anderii at the Royal Enclosure at Ascot to make a small bet on Pink Pride and to share a few drinks with the usual suspects. In accordance with Temporal Regulations, Nikki did not peek to see who won the race, this time

AT THE MOVIES

1950's sci-fi screen Goddess Dolly Proton, star of the Maidens of Mars movies, and the Adventures of Astrogirl movies, is at the Calaveras Studios to start her most ambitious project yet, Invaders of Mars.

Written and Directed by Ribbit Frogsten, the movie allows Dolly Proton to show her dramatic acting talent.

Dolly Proton is in the role of Major Mae Hemme, transgender, cybernetic, space mercenary who is tasked by the Earth Council to go to take a robot army to Mars and set up a Terra Transmographier to turn Mars into a planet usable by humans from Earth

Major Mae Hemme shows her robot commanders the battle plan. They are to land, take a castle discovered orbital view scanners, and set up the terra transmographier and then wait for settlers from Earth to arrive.

Major Mae Hemme and her robot army land on Mars.

The invading army moves and take the castle, finding ancient weapons without finding the Martians who once used them.

The Invaders set up the Terra Transmographier and wait for Mars to become New Earth.

Dolly, unhappy with the script, storms off the set...

and takes a needed break at her trailer while her agent and director looks on...

After a few drinks, and talking things over with the Ribbit, Dolly is ready to go back to the set...

The Martians are heard from if not actually seen, taking out the robots patrolling outside the castle.

Though concerned, the Major rallies the troops and gets ready for the next attack.

The Martians attack and take out a good deal of Major Hemme's troops.

Much to her dismay, the Martians take out her terra transmorgraphier equipment.

Major Hemme goes off to meet with the leader of the Martians

The negotiations do not go as planned.

Major Mae Hemme leads her troop in retreat.

As her troops board the transport, Major Hemme looks back on her defeat and asks, "What is this place?"

"Ours," comes the ghostly answer across the winds of Mars as the picture fades to black.

Dolly Proton relaxes before heading off to the wrap party.

Dolly Proton goes to the films premier with the director Ribbet Frogsten.

The film failed to catch on with the main stream audience and it would be the last release of Calaveras Studios. Dolly Proton went back to portraying Astrogirl, and Mars Maiden. Ribbet Frogsten retired comfortably back to the swamp. Invasion of Mars would later become a cult classic, being heralded as an ahead of it's time classic.

AI Challenge #6 My Ideal Secret Cabin

A place to get away from it all. With the smell of the pines and sea breezes, it is a nice place to forget what troubles you. The door is always open. There is a pot of coffee on the stove and beers chilling in an ice tub out back. The grill is ready to cook what takes your fancy. The bar is stocked, we take cocktails at five, and dine at six.

It may be a secret cabin but it is also a place for friends to gather together, to talk about anything that comes to mind, passing the time away.

Go out to the porch and sit a spell. The lemonade is fresh and just the right touch of sweet and tart. I'm sure you will find some you would like to listen to while reading. Or just sit and watch and listen to the quiet of a place where the sand meets the sea, and the sea meets the sky and sky meets the stars.

I'm so excited to have danni-gurrl visiting the Astro Corp Academy and show around a bit...

After @astogurlnikkipinkai has now been a repeat visitor at the Mystery Castle @danni-gurrl is curious to visit her at Astro Corp Academy. But she doesn't want to stick out as a plain 21st century girl without any implants and wonders whether this purely external set of painted silicone is sufficient camouflage.

It is certainly more than just the neck piece, that she thinks might please a certain someone in the time and place back home.

She could be sending a fully robotic sister that would record and transfer everything, but that would still be a far cry from experiencing it first hand.

The exoskeleton parts turn out to be not only decorative. She particularly values this spine support that strengthens her resolve to stand up tall to the all the bullshit coming from her manager.

So she's ready and excited to find out what benefits of future life Nikki is going to show her. She's already concluded that the peace and tranquility of the Mystery Castle it is not going to be.

This week's assignment

Nikki tells her advanced design class that they have to design a rocket ship with a 1950's aesthetic.

At the end of the week, she tours their design while sending them off to get properly attired...

Nikki is pleased as punch at the way the galley turned out...

along with the dining room. Her students also turned out quite well in their attire.

She did find the bridge stations a bit unconventional but the crew seemed to be working through it.

There was a problem in fitting the probe craft into the hanger bay.

Nikki relaxed in the crew lounge and reviewed some recent cultural interactive intelligence when she discovered a problem with the artificial gravity. Back to the drawing board.

While having tea with her doll, Nikki is afraid that she might get lonely.

So she goes online and finds the rare and collectable Nikki Party Doll with the Disco Playset.

She really brought life to the tea party...

Nikki was soon ready to go wherever the adventure and imagination will take them...

Nikki drives up to her parking spot at the Astro Corp Academy after a full weekend, with just enough time to change. The question is, is it Nikki, or is it Sarah?

Nikki's starship design course takes an interesting turn when she starts asking the class how to make room for a bigger kitchen.
