I'm Lindsey, I'm a junior at the University of Montana in Missoula and I have an unhealthy addiction to Andrew McMahon and road trips. I'm a lefty, an INFJ, a Kappa Kappa Gamma, and a hopeless romantic. Welcome to my world :)

I think it’s really nice when you find a song that means the world to you. Sometimes you play it forty times in a row or maybe once a week. But it sticks with you. It gets to the point where you are cross comparing the studio and live versions, but it still sounds amazing when you listen to it. You may find yourself feeling like its the soundtrack to every moment in your life. And that, I think, is the truly wonderful thing about music.

There’s like some banshee wailing going on in the back… anything that you say, I will not do. I don’t do requests, this ain’t a fucking karaoke bar brother. [Another banshee cry of “Hurricane!”] I didn’t even write that song! I’m gonna do… [“Free Bird!”] I’m gonna do Free Bird, that’s it. Free Bird for the rest of the night.

epic midwest adventure is in the books!
I'm back in good ol' Montana after a crazy four day Andrew run in the Midwest with the lovely Jaclyn and Christina. I flew into Milwaukee Tuesday morning, attempted public transport, and eventually ended up at the venue. I couldn't find people so I started my own line...and I guess it was in the right spot. The nice venue man let us inside early which was awesome cause it was freezing. Milwaukee is cold, fun fact. There was no barricade and it was excellent. Sorvino gave us water because he's a champ. Afterwards I fought a girl for a setlist and then made crazy faces with Andrew. It was a good day. Until Thursday...
Christina picked Jaclyn and I up too early for our own good and we headed to Chicago. When we got to the venue I bailed out of the car and started a line while they went to find parking. And then the tour bus pulled up and I awkwardly sat there and ate candy because we beat the band to the venue. At least it was warm though, and we got to befriend the merch dude. I had been told this venue was small, but when we got inside I wanted to yell. We were literally on stage and it was the best. Getting to talk to all the openers as they set up/took down, and then casually touching Andrew's piano was enough to give anyone a heart attack. I've been to a fair share of Andrew shows and it'll be very hard to top this one! perfect setlist + practically being on stage was excellent. I impulsively bought merch and talked to Erland and Barcelona who are both the nicest people on Earth. And then I did my Andrew meeting and he asked me where the heck I actually lived because I just keep popping up in random cities and it was a lovely conversation except his new manager is kind of a jerk
and then it got exciting....
we're all excited yet sleepy and ready to just get back to milwaukee and sleep forever. but we didn't even make it out of the city. We got to this stupid wonky intersection and there was a crash and I yelled and I don't really know what happened. Luckily the other guy was super nice and didn't shoot us, but sadly our car wasn't drivable. So we pulled into a Dunkin Donuts and contemplated life because here we are three girls in downtown Chicago at midnight trying to find a hotel that's not super sketchy but also not a million dollars a night. Then these cops pulled up to get donuts, and I laughed because cops + donuts, but I was on the phone with my mom and she suggested we ask them for help, so we did, and next thing I know we're getting a ride in a cop car to a relatively fancy hotel in a nice part of town. And the cops went inside with us and made the hotel guy give us a discount so we didn't have to sell a vital organ to get a room for a few hours. IT WAS CRAZY, and I still kinda feel like it was a weird dream, but I was actually just ridiculously sleepy and hopped up on adrenaline at the same time. Christina's dad came to the rescue in the morning and I made it back to Milwaukee in time for my flight, but goodness, that was definitely more of an adventure than I ever asked for!
but it was still actually the best four days of my life. lincoln hall is my new favorite venue, barcelona and erland are the greatest, and I will forever stalk Andrew around the country.

Andrew McMahon explains the meaning of his song “Synesthesia” and it’s reference to fun.  Milwaukee, WI (April 2, 2013)
I picked up a USA Today sometime in November and I saw that these dear dear friends of mine were nominated for more Grammy awards than almost any other band or group. You know who they are, my good friends in fun. I grew up with those guys, we toured the country in various incarnations for the better part of a decade and I remember feeling this sense of pride and excitement for them, and then you immediately go, ‘what the shit, I never got any Grammy awards. What the fuck.’ It was a passive feeling but ultimately the feeling was this sense of what an amazing life that I could even know the people that got these Grammy awards and what an amazing life that I get to travel around this country with these amazing musicians and play music every day.
