Yasmine only nodded slowly at the explanation before letting out a soft laugh at the question that followed. “Hey, i’m not one to judge what anyone does during their time off.” She answered. “But, i’d say no. You’re here anyway, so why not?” Yasmine added. “Should’ve made it an Long Island iced tea instead.”
“Maybe you’re right,” Astrid said, leaving out the part that she had been drinking her whole shift anyway. “Think I’ll get in trouble if I spike this behind the bar off the clock?”

“So you’re saying you go to different bars to get drunk? Please.” He let out and shook his head as he looked at the blonde. “You know you want to get wasted, Astrid.”
“Please?” she asked. “I mean, do you not go to other bars? I don’t know how to break it to you, but I think every bar within walking distance is phenomenally better than this one.”

andrew chuckled at the statement the girl made as he leaned against the table, holding a beer of his own in his hand. “i mean, i do it all the time. like, this is technically my place of employment, isn’t it?”
“I guess. Different story, though.” Glancing into her glass, Astrid swooshed it around. “Maybe I should spike this. There are little particles in it.”

“Didn’t say I was going to tattle.” Connor shrugged as he looked between his phone and Astrid, pulling a beer bottle to his lips. “But wouldn’t be surprised.. would have to be fucked up to work at a place like this, no offense.” he shrugged and leaned back in his chair.
“Hm,” Astrid said, scoffing as she shifted in her seat to face Connor directly. “I mean, I get paid to be here. What’s your excuse?”

“that’s a little preemptive.” lux laughed dryly kicking her ankles up to showcase the terrifyingly impressive seven inch platforms she sported. it was nice to be elevated above the world, it made her feel wholly powerful. “i haven’t broken my ankle yet astrid. no matter how much you prayed for it.”
“I would never pay for you to feel pain. Don’t be so dramatic, she said with a scoff, secretly pouring a shot for herself under the bar as she pretended to be fully engaged in the conversation. Ducking under briefly to take it, she bounced back up again narrowly missing her head knocking against the bar. “When are you on?” she questioned, moving to check the time on her phone that was plugged in behind the register. “At least you have an audience. That’s something, right?”

“It’s iced tea,” Astrid announced from the tall table she sat at, brows furrowing. “Even if it wasn’t, I’m off duty. It’s just kind of embarrassing to drink at your place of employment, no? Like, for fun?”

the clock was verging on one am but the show was just getting started. lux’s kohl rimmed eyes flicked back and forth between the commotion on stage and the gentle hum of the crowd, wavering between sobriety and debauchery. livewire wasn’t due on for another thirty minutes so for now she could survey the crowd, understand who she was playing to tonight. bright red nails grasped an unlit cigarette as her leather dress shifted beneath her on the bar-stool. “do you have a lighter? i left mine in my guitar case.”
The rush was beginning, where everyone tried to pile in for last call in order to get their final drinks in before they were forced home. Scrambling behind the bar, Astrid stopped short when Lux spoke, digging into her back jean’s pocket for her lighter and tossing it on the bar. “Sorry to hear about your legs.”

DRINKING, IN SCOTLAND, IS LESS OF AN INDULGENT PAST-TIME and more of a custom for its people. It’s part of a culture. Like going to church, for example. Which is why Zak has found himself occupying a stool at the counter on a Sunday when he very well knew he had a 9:30 AM class the following day, nursing a headache from reading all the garbage his students submitted to him with a bottle of beer. The papers were discarded in a small pile on top of the messenger bag that sat beside him, mocking him. “I couldn’t ask you to read these essays for me, could I?” he asked the other as he casually lit a cigarette between his fingers.
Astrid held a tray of jell-o shooters. Two dollars, a steal in the books of the alcohol industry these days, especially in the city. Little did customers know, however, the shots were so weak they realistically cost not even a cent to produce. Profit. The interruption, at first, had Astrid politely stalling in order to see if Zak was about to request a drink or shot from the tray. The question was unexpected and she just laughed in response. “Um,” she said. “I don’t know. I have dyslexia, I’d take like a week and you’d definitely have to pay me for my time.”

Hey hey, I’m Neeno! I’m twenty-five and use she or they pronouns (though I do usually prefer they/them when you can!). VETOHQ was my little creation. It was around back in 2014 (yikes) and this is its first revamp, although I wouldn’t really call it that since I’m the only person from the OG that’s here as far as I know! The plots also changed a whole lot! I honestly brought it back because I feel like Canada is super underrepresented here and also just... am sick of roleplays that cater mostly to muses who go to uni or idk... are rich? JKNFSKJFSN Anyway, I’ll stop rambling... Here’s my first muse.
i think ASTRID LOCKE is working at veto as a SERVER now. i believe SHE will do well, because they’re OUTGOING and BRAVE. that said, the 19 year old can also be pretty IMPULSIVE and HARSH, which might hinder their performance. they are working FULL-time and are from COMPTON, CALIFORNIA. — female / ester exposito.
PINTEREST BOARD IS HERE.
details.

backstory.
astrid was born and raised in california to a single mother and an older half brother named stephen.
her biological father was just a one night stand from the years her mother had spent as a groupie. he was in a toronto-based punk band called Hades, that is now retired.
though she had occasional infrequent contact with her father, the two didn’t keep in touch much.
her environment was very free, always able to make her own mistakes without much parental guidance.
her brother acted as a sort of shield to the outside world and his biological father took astrid under his wing too, always taking her out to eat and whatnot.
the two of them were her rock, to say the least. at fifteen, however, stephen’s father suffered a massive heart attack and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
at seventeen, she moved out of her home.
her mother would bring home boyfriends who were often not much short from evil and she’d had enough, moving in with stephen and a couple of his friends.
the house was riddled in drugs, but it wasn’t something she wasn’t used to. her childhood home was very simular.
then, just after her 18th birthday, stephen overdosed on the heroin they’d both been using and died while astrid waited for an ambulance to arrive.
they all moved out of the house then and astrid made the drastic decision to get far far away.
so she moved to toronto, to be closer to her biological father and to potentially get to know him.
she took on a job at veto, which was gruelling hours and not the best tips, but something at least.
she managed to get mostly clean and moved so she lived in the apartment over from her father.
she’s dating someone (totally looking for this connection), but they’re open because astrid can’t really commit.
personality.
very brass, not much filter.
think like.... your worst nightmare on the bad girls club JKFSKJFNS
she gets in fights a lot.
has a no bullshit policy when it comes to her working environment.
most people believe her to be older than she is, because that’s how she carries herself.
she’s addicted to tattoos but all of hers are professional, yet stick and poke. she gets them done by artists she knows.
doesn’t care much about fashion.
connections.
anything and everything! i’d love to have her present open relationship (any gender identity). other people she’s hooking up with / hooked up with. people who might be connected to her father somehow. good and bad influences. enemies. frenemies. party friends, mentors... give me it ALL.
#vetointro#drug abuse //#overdose //#death //#heart attack //#abuse //#addiction //#i... will get my other intro up later#i burnt myself out a bit JNSFKNJSF
