I charged this jar with Moss Agate and Jade in a piggy bank and sealed it with gold wax and a green thread. Since I was using this jar to try and find a well-paying summer job, I kept it on me when job-searching and for a while I had it tied to my wallet. Hey witches!

i know there was a lot of controversy when that aesthetically beautiful but essentially pop-culturey and trans-exclusive book “WITCH” by Lisa Lister came out. you know the one. the black matte cover, crescent moon C. throughly instagrammable, but full of hot garbage. i’m not bothering to post a photo because honestly i dont think it deserves that kind of free press.

BUT If you’re anything like me, you were innocently carousing the bookstore with no idea of what kind of mess you were in store for when you purchased it and were greatly disappointed by its pages.

For those of you with the same experience, I offer to you this alternative:

“Becoming Dangerous” is a book edited by Katie West and Jasmine Elliot of Fiction & Feeling, and offers deeply personal, empowering essays about magic and ritual by trans witches, nonbinary witches, disabled witches, and more!

I haven’t gotten through the whole thing yet, so I can’t vouch for it in its entirety, but I’ve read through the first couple essays and so far it seems like a great alternative.

It doesn’t have “how-to’s” or spells per se, but you get a deep and intimate look into other people’s personal crafts and worldviews. And there’a a lot to be learned from that honestly.

And it’s just as instagrammable!

Roadblock Remover Spell

This spell is intended to clear up negative situations or blockages that are in your way that may be stopping your desires from manifesting.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

One white candle (symbolizes purification, cleansing)

A piece of paper

A pen

Herbs corresponding to cleansing/banishing, such as: ⚬ sage ⚬ sandalwood ⚬ bay leaves ⚬ dragon’s blood ⚬ rosemary ⚬ lavender ⚬ basil ⚬ yarrow ⚬ mugwort ⚬ black or red pepper

STEPS:

🕯 On the piece of paper, write the negative emotions you’ve been feeling. Go into detail about how stuck you’ve been feeling, and how you wish to break free from whatever or whomever has you in it’s web.

🕯 Place the candle on top of your petition.

🕯 Sprinkle the herbs you chose to use on top of the candle. As you are doing so, visualize the purpose of each herb. Feel the doors in your life opening, your desires now coming to you with ease rather than with delay.

🕯 Light the candle, sit in front of it, and meditate on what you wish to happen after this spell. Imagine yourself getting what you want, the blockages melting away like ice on hot pavement.

🕯 Command it to get out of your way. This is your life, you have the power to pick and choose who and what you want in it, so do it. Do this verbally or mentally, whichever you see fit.

🕯 Allow the candle to burn down completely, or, you can leave it on until you feel the blockages were removed. If you choose the second method, you can light this same candle again if you feel the need to ever again.

🍃🌼Squeaky Clean: A damn simple cleansing bath 🌼🍃

I do this regularly, especially on Sundays. But you can do this when you’d like.

🌼Lemongrass - cleansing, purifying, road opening

🐑Green tea - personally associate it with cleansing and calming energy

🌼Sea salt - cleanses and protects

🐑Florida water - cleansing and delicious

🌼Cascarilla (optional) - protection

🐑 Filtered, Holy Water, or Moon/Sun water (optional)

💗🍃Bring the water to a boil in a pot, and add in your lemongrass, green tea, and sea salt. Let that brew for a bit.

🌿After youre satisfied, strain your tea to remove any of the plant bits. Discard or reuse how you want.

💗🍃Let it cool. When it is, add your florida water. Stir it all together.

🌿Recite the appropriate Psalm over your tea. Psalm 23 is my go to favorite, especially for general cleansings. If you’re cleansing bc of baneful work perhaps try Psalm 51. Its really up to you which one you wanna use, Psalm 23 is just my usual and my favorite.

💗🍃Some people like to burn novena candles in the tea bowl before using the tea. Some people like to leave them in front of their saints or spirits for them to bless. Do whatever the fuck you want lmao.

🌿Bring the mix with you to the bathroom.

💗🍃People tend to take their baths in different ways. First and foremost, cleanse yourself physically. Wash that booty. Using a soap made of milk gives a spiritual boost, but not mandatory.

🌿Some people like to draw a bath, pour the tea in, and bathe in it. Relax, pray, do what you need to do, visualize any spiritual nasties coming off. Recite the psalm again if you want (I do, with prayers to my Spirits), and then submerge yourself in the water 3 times. Get out, brush the water and anything “negative” off of you with your hands, use a towel to wipe ur eyes if you need to but DO NOT towel dry, let yourself air dry. Save some of the bath water, ritually rinse out the tub (I throw more salt in the empty tub and then wash it all out down the drain).

💗🍃If you dont have a bath or prefer to shower, take a second to pray or recite a Psalm or whatever you want after youre physically clean. Take the tea and pour it over yourself, invisioning the negative energy being washed. Try to keep some of the run off water by keeping a bowl near your feet. Brush the liquid off and downwards away from you and let yourself air dry. Sprinkle salt in your shower and rinse it or however else you want to cleanse that space.

🌿After youre dry, rub yourself down with some Florida water and then continue with your usual self care stuff (moisturize fam!). I like to put on some cascarilla powder for protection as a finishing touch.

💗🍃Take the liquid you saved and dispose of it somewhere appropriate, I tend to use crossroads. Dont look back at it when you do.

Important note: Follow up on your cleansings with candle spells and/or baths to bring back positive energy and good things for u.

⚓ Marooned Sailor Curse ⚓

a curse for those who abandon or turn on you, to strand them alone in life.

⚓  gather: a rock, sand, a jar, harbor water, twine, rusty nails, and a taglock

⚓  fill the bottom of the jar with sand.

⚓  bind the taglock/representative object of the person to the rock with twine.

⚓  place the taglock in the middle of the jar, surround with rusty nails.

⚓  fill the rest of the jar with harbor water.

⚓  inscribe on the outside the reason they are being marooned.

⚓  burn a black candle and use the wax to seal the jar.

⚓  break the seal when you want to end the curse.

WITCH TIP

When studying or note-taking, leave blank space so you can add more observations later. Same for spells - leave a blank page for you to record results (which may not become apparent for days, weeks, or even months!) Giving yourself the space to reflect and add on is a vital part of learning and growing.
