you tore a thread from my dress and wrapped it round my finger

and said - as long as this string lingers,

i will love you.

so i sewed it into my skin - with a curved needle and a blood filled grin, no matter how hard the rain or the wind, it would remain…

but you left me anyway - and my skin grew over and around the string if i try to remove it now, i will bleed and i will bleed

i thought to make my heart stop, the string might fall, as my body dropped - but at such a great price to pay to remove you …seemed obscene

tell me love, as the years twist by, why must i still have a string? and why… why don’t you carry anything, of me at all?
