I find it crazy how we have a sfw tkl community who loves the sonic fandom and write cute fics. But we don’t have none of shadow and Maria😭😭😭 can you do Lee shadow ler Maria or perhaps the other way around, or switch for both
It does feel criminal that we lack in the Shadow & Maria fluff department. Additionally, I haven’t been feeling 100% these past 2 months (apologies for the boop booth delay, but I don’t want to force myself to draw when my spirits are down)
So, enjoy this self-indulgent comfort fluff fic! ❤️🩹

Maria hummed to herself as she cruised through the empty halls on her roller skates.
It was testing day once again for her alien hedgehog friend, Shadow. Even though she didn’t like the tests Shadow was forced to do, there was nothing really she could do about it. She had gotten Shadow out of testing one time when she snuck into the lab, and convinced Shadow to slip out behind the scientists’ backs, placing her teddy bear in his place.
Unfortunately, ever since that day, her grandfather and the other scientists forbade her from sneaking down into the lab and seeing Shadow during experiments. So now, she couldn’t help him sneak out anymore. Instead, she had to stay outside and wait for the tests to be over in order to see her friend.
Waiting always was a drag and felt like forever. Maria tried busying herself to make the time pass faster: playing her guitar, making elaborate snacks from the cafeteria food carts, coloring, or roller skating.
Even though she was told by Commander Walters in the beginning to lose the skates while staying at the facility, that didn’t stop her in the moment. She was bored waiting for her friend, what else was she supposed to do? Besides, she knew the facility inside and out by now to know the best places to skate without getting caught.
Maria skidded to a stop around a corner as she heard voices and footsteps approaching. She quickly pulled off her roller skates and hid them behind her bear and other plushies she brought along.
Her face brightened when she saw Shadow, who was being escorted by two other scientists and her grandfather. “Shadow!” she beamed, leaning down to his level and giving him a hug. Shadow smiled, returning the gesture.
“Maria, there you are,” she heard her grandfather say.
“What are you doing out here alone?”
“Just playing,” Maria answered, gesturing to the pile of plush toys on the floor. “Can Shadow play now?”
“Of course he can,” replied Gerald. “Since he did such an excellent job with today’s experiments.” He patted Shadow’s head, who frowned slightly at that.
“Now then, I’ve got to get back to my work.” Gerald turned his attention to the scientists. “Escort them back to Maria’s room, please.” The scientists nodded.
Now back in the comfort of Maria’s blanket fort, she was happy to see her hedgehog bestie again. Except he didn’t reciprocate the feeling back.
Maria’s smile faltered as she noticed her friend biting back a wince. “Shadow, is something wrong? What happened?”
Shadow forced his expression to be neutral. “Nothing…I’m fine.”
“Come on, you know you can tell me anything.” There was no point in trying to hide anything from Maria; she could always tell when he was lying. That was one of the many traits he secretly admired about her.
The black hedgehog sighed. “It was…” He glanced back at the door, as if he was afraid one of the scientists was going to hear. “They wanted to see how far the limits of my chaos energy could reach. So the scientists had me do countless laps nonstop while they monitored me. And if I started to slow down even just a little…” He sighed again, lowering his head. “They’d make me start all over again.”
Maria felt her heart sink. She always hated how the other scientists treated Shadow as nothing more than a guinea pig. At least her grandfather never gave Shadow that same treatment. He, unlike everyone else at the facility, actually saw Shadow as a person and her friend.
“Oh, Shadow, I’m so sorry you had to deal with that.”
“Doesn’t matter,” mumbled Shadow, shifting away from Maria’s hand that was trying to rest on his. He heard her let out a little sigh, and was quickly filled with guilt. He didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. He did want comfort, but his frustration got in the way and made him express it wrongly. “Maria, I’m…I-I’m sorry.” He lowered his ears, bringing his knees to his chest and hiding his face in his arms.
Maria felt like she could tear up at the sight. “Awh, Shadow…” She hovered her hand over his head. “Is it alright if I pet your head?” She heard a soft ‘mhm’ in response so she gingerly began petting his head. She felt Shadow melt at the touch, especially when she softly traced his quills or gently scratched at the soft fur behind his ears.
When he finally uncurled from his moping position, Maria suddenly yanked him into a tight hug while ruffling his head. “Aaah! Hey! What are you doing?!” He didn’t get an answer, but was instead scooped up and twirled around. “Maria! What…are…you…doing?!”
Maria finally put him down, beaming a smile. “Curing you of your sadness! My grandfather always says the best cure for sadness is confusion; if you can distract the other person with something else, they’ll forget why they were sad in the first place. Did it work?”
Shadow couldn’t help but crack a small smile. “Yeah, a little,” he said, trying to fix his messed up fur.
Aww only a little?” Maria pouted. She had to up her game! She hummed in thought before her face brightened. “Ooh, wait! I’ve got an idea!” She stood up, motioning for Shadow to follow.
When they were in the hallway, she led them to the lift where she pulled out a keycard from her pocket that granted them access to the roof. Now Shadow understood what she was up to. She was taking them to the flower fields where she first took them after he had gotten self-conscious from a certain scene in the movie they watched.
Tranquil silence fell between them as the two laid side by side in the soft grass. It was another clear night, and the inky black sky was illuminated by thousands of twinkling stars. Even the Milky Way was fully visible.
The two sat in silence until Maria spoke. “Beautiful night, isn’t it?” Shadow hummed in agreement. “I’m sorry you had to deal with what happened earlier. They shouldn’t have treated you that way.”
“Don’t feel sorry, Maria. It was my own fault for not being able to exceed their expectations.”
“Shadow, that’s not true. They were pressuring you, and setting very high standards for no reason.”
“It was still my fault. If I can’t be strong like they expect me to be, then what’s the point?”
“Shadow…” Maria gently took his gloved hand in hers. “You already are the strongest person I’ve ever known, and that’s not because of your powers. It’s because despite everything, you still choose to have a good heart. You’re so much stronger than you know, Shadow.”
The black hedgehog was touched by her words, but there still was a seed of doubt lingering inside. “I don’t feel so strong all the time,” he quietly admitted.
“Well you are,” Maria insisted. She gave a comforting squeeze to his hand which Shadow reciprocated. “You are to me.”
“Do you…really think so?”
“I know so. You’ve got a good heart, Shadow. Never lose sight of that. And never forget that you are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.”
Shadow’s expression faltered. “But what if they’re right? What if I am just nothing more than an unpredictable monster? And I’m just fooling myself thinking I can be anything more than that?”
Maria sat up, gently squeezing both of his hands. “Hey, don’t ever think that, Shadow. No matter what anyone says or thinks, you’ll always be my friend. Remember what I said to you before? You can do or be anything you want to.” She gently tapped his chest. “As long as you follow your heart.”
“Besides,” she added after a moment of silence. “How can a so-called ‘monster’ be a monster if he’s this adorable?” She suddenly cupped Shadow’s face, squishing his cheeks before peppering his face with tiny kisses.
Shadow tried to act annoyed by the sudden affection, but slowly broke into a smile after a few seconds. Soft, breathy chuckles spilled from his lips as Maria yanked him into another crushing bear hug while still smothering his head with kisses.
“Okahahay! Okahay, I gehehet ihihit! Aaah! You’re squeezing too tihihihight!” Now the smothering was getting to him.
Maria giggled, releasing him. “Feel better now?”
Shadow fondly rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Thank you for that, Maria. I really mean it.” He suddenly bit back a wince, touching his side.
“What’s wrong?”
“The endless laps I had to do earlier,” Shadow explained as he carefully tried to massage the knot away. “They wouldn’t give me a break as I kept straining myself to push faster, and—well…I guess I strained myself a bit too much.”
“Oh, Shadow…” Maria reached her hand out.
“I’ll be fine,” the hedgehog assured. “Don’t worry about me. I’ve dealt with worse. This is nothing.”
Maria nodded, but she wasn’t so convinced. She knew how stubborn Shadow could be whenever it came to something like bruises or sore limbs. He was always so opposed to accepting any sort of help, sometimes even from her. She figured Shadow tried putting up a tough act all the time in front of her so she wouldn’t worry about him.
She suddenly got a deviously playful idea as she saw Shadow subtly try to rub his soreness away. She wasn’t sure if this would even work on him, or if he would even allow her to do such a thing, but it was worth a shot. Shadow always made exceptions for Maria whenever she wanted him to do something with her so surely he would make the exception for this.
Plus, he really looked like he could use some extra convincing after filling himself with so much doubt. Would this work on him? Only one way to find out.
Maria let out a fake gasp. “Wait, Shadow, you said you were still feeling sore from earlier?”
“Yes? But I already said I’ll be fine.”
Maria put on her best worrisome act. “We should do a checkup to see if anywhere else might be hurting.”
At the mention of ‘checkup’, Shadow scooted away, wrapping his arms around his torso. Maria immediately regretted her choice of words. “It’s okay, Shadow. I meant: why don’t you let me check you up to see if there’s anything wrong? There might be something serious you don’t even know about!” She tried to keep a straight face, not wanting a smile to give away what she was really planning.
Shadow seemed hesitant at first, but agreed in the end. As much as he wanted to convince his friend and himself that a little sore muscle in his side was nothing to fret, he knew Maria wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Even if he hated checkups in general thanks to the GUN scientists, he knew Maria would never do anything to hurt him. He trusted her more than anyone.
He sighed. “All right, fine.”
“Perfect,” Maria beamed, now letting her smile show. She motioned for him to come closer. “Now then, I’ll examine you from head to toe and my assistant here,” she gestured to her teddy bear sitting next to her that she brought along. “will write down anything unusual so I can right away help you. Okay?”
“All right,” nodded Shadow, playing along.
“Good. And I promise, I’ll be gentle.” Shadow nodded again. “Okay, now hold still…” Maria gently rubbed his head. “Any headaches or soreness?”
“No.”
“Alright.” She moved to his ears, gingerly rubbing them before giving them a playful flick to make them twitch. “Ear reflexes look normal. So far so good.” She tested his eyes, making him follow her index finger waving in his face. She checked his limbs, gently bending his arms and legs at the joint back and forth. She checked his reflexes, tapping his knee with her finger and Shadow humored her by kicking his leg out.
“Woah! Reflexes are more than okay,” she stated with a laugh. “Okay, last part. I gotta check and see if anything else hurts.” Maria reached for his torso. As soon as she squeezed both of his sides, Shadow’s breath suddenly hitched. He curled reflexively, but not from the soreness. As a matter of fact, he didn’t even feel the sore knot in his side anymore. It was something else entirely—something odd. A strange feeling he had never felt before.
Maria noticed this, and at first thought she accidentally hurt him. But after another careful experimental squeeze, she saw the corner of Shadow’s mouth curl as he choked on another grunt. It took every single ounce of willpower to not burst out in an excited squeal. Aaaah! No way! No way!! It works! He’s ticklish!! He’s actually ticklish!
“Shadow? Are you okay?” Maria asked innocently. “Does something hurt here?”
“N-No, I’m fine,” Shadow answered as nonchalantly as possible.
“Hmm, are you sure? You’re all curled up. Here, lemme see…” She squeezed his sides again, this time not letting up.
Shadow emitted a startled sound, choking on air again. Why did these squeezes to his sides make him want to reflexively curl into a ball and…laugh?! What was Maria doing to him?
“W-Wait! Maria..! AAAH!” Shadow’s voice cracked as he let out a high-pitched yelp—which he would forever deny until the end of time. He felt Maria’s small fingers start to poke and tase his sides. Why did he get the feeling that she was doing this on purpose now? “Mari—AH! No waHAhait! Wait!! AAAH!”
“Shadow, will you please uncurl so I can see if something’s wrong?” Maria tried to sound stern, but her smile said otherwise.
“I cAN’t if you keep poking me like thAT! What are you doing?!”
“I’m just trying to make sure my best friend isn’t trying to hide some kind of injury from me. But by the way you’re acting, something tells me you are hiding an injury!”
“I am not!”
“Then let me see!”
Shadow slowly uncurled, and yelped as Maria went for his sides again. “QuIHIHIT it!! You’re doIHINg thihihis on pUrpOHose!”
Maria slowly gasped, pretending to be shocked. “Why Shadow, you wouldn’t happen to be…ticklish, would you?”
“N-No! I—I don’t even know what that means!”
“Well,” Maria began to explain, pulling her hands away. “tickling is when a certain spot on your body is touched in a way that makes you laugh.”
Shadow blinked. He had never felt more confused. Maria giggled at his dumbfounded expression. “What I was just doing to you seconds ago. That’s tickling.”
The black hedgehog glanced down at his side where Maria’s fingers had been mere moments ago. Curious, he squeezed his own side and frowned as nothing happened. Maria giggled at her friend’s innocent attempt. “You can’t tickle yourself, silly. It only works if someone else does it to you.”
“This doesn’t make any sense. How is this even possible?”
Maria shrugged. “I don’t know. And nobody has ever really figured out why. All we know is that it’s a silly way to play around and make you laugh.” She suddenly smirked. “And it looks like it works on you too!”
“What?”
“You! You’re ticklish, Shadow! Ohh, this changes everything!”
Shadow felt his cheeks grow warm, but he didn’t know why. “No, I’m not!”
“Are too!”
“I am not!”
“Are too!”
“Am not!”
“Are too~!” Maria sang, booping the flustered hedgehog on the nose.
Shadow huffed, lowering his ears. “No. I’m. Not!!”
Maria was unfazed by his outburst. “Alright then, Mr. Ultimate Lifeform. You wanna keep denying the obvious? I’ll prove it to you! Lift up your arms.”
Shadow didn’t like where this was going. He hugged himself tightly. “No way!”
“What, are you scaaaared~?”
“I’m not scared of anything!”
“Then lift your arms up.” Shadow reluctantly obeyed, slowly raising his arms above his head. “Now, keep your arms up no matter what.” Shadow’s eyes widened as Maria’s fingers slowly moved closer. He felt something bubbling in his chest: fear but also…excitement?! He brushed it off as just adrenaline. After all, having his arms raised like this left vital spots vulnerable. So yes, it was just adrenaline and nothing more.
Maria wasn’t making this any easier as she slowly, painfully inched her wiggling fingers closer, smirking like a pint-sized villain. And for some reason, the anticipation was maddening! Shadow had never felt this much panicky anticipation. Not even the times where he anticipated grueling tests and experiments the night before.
This was nothing like that. As much as his body panicked, his mind told him nothing serious was going to hurt him. He could feel the corners of his mouth trying to tug upwards. A strange feeling was bubbling and growing in his chest: the urge to laugh.
Finally, Maria’s fingers touched down. She placed her fingertips on his forearms, before softly and slowly tracing down his arms. The closer her fingers got to his exposed underarms, the stronger the urge to laugh became.
Shadow bit his lip, refusing to let any emotion show. His arms trembled as he struggled to keep them up. His instincts were shouting for him to yank his arms down. He couldn’t take the anticipation anymore!
He let out a muffled yelp as Maria rested her fingertips against his underarms. Shadow couldn’t fight his instincts anymore.
“Shadow, keep your arms up!” Maria playfully scolded. When Shadow couldn’t lift his arms back up more than an inch, Maria went ahead and pushed his arms up all the way. Without wasting another second, her fingers plunged down to wiggle and scratch rapidly against the exposed underarms.
Shadow, unable to keep it together, let the dam break as loud laughs poured out of him. “AAAH! MarIAHAHAHA! NOHOHO!” Reflexively, he slammed his arms down to his sides, only to trap Maria’s still wiggling fingers. “NO! NOHOHOHO!! DOHOHOHON’T!!”
“Don’t what?”
“S-STOHAHAHAHAP!!”
“Stop what?”
“AAAHAHA! NOHOHOHOHO!!”
Maria couldn’t help but laugh alongside her friend’s screechy reactions. “You keep saying ‘no’ Shadow, but you’re not telling me what specifically!”
For some reason, the teasing tone in Maria’s voice made Shadow’s cheeks flush even more. His stomach was bubbling with a maddening fluttery sensation that felt like he swallowed a swarm of live butterflies. How was that even possible?!
Quickly losing balance, Shadow flopped onto his back against the grass. “Ooh, making things easier for me by lying down?” he heard Maria say. “I mean, you already lost trying to keep your arms up. But if you wanted me to keep tickling you, Shadow, you could’ve just told me!”
“WhAHAHAT?! NoHAHAHAO!!”
Shadow kicked and rapidly squirmed against the grass. His arms were glued to his sides, and Maria’s fingers somehow were still able to move. As if that wasn’t bad enough, now that he was laying down, Maria suddenly switched tactics. Now, she moved her hands to his ribs, where her devious fingers poked and kneaded at his ribcage.
“WaHAHAHAIT MAHAHARIA!!”
Ignoring his protest, Maria got another wicked idea. She halted her playful assault for a moment. “Hey, Shadow? How many ribs do you have?”
“W-Whahat..?” The hedgehog gasped out, sitting up.
“Does being the ultimate lifeform make you have an extra or less set of ribs?”
“I…I have the same as you. Twenty-four; twelve on each side.”
“Hmm…I better check to make sure.”
“What?!”
Maria faked concern again. “I gotta make sure you’re not missing any! What if one of them came loose from all those laps you did earlier?”
“N-Nothihing came loose!” Shadow answered with a wobbly smile. He was trying so hard not to laugh, to no avail. Even worse, he couldn’t even activate his chaos energy to get out of this flustering situation. In any other scenario, he could have easily teleported out of there, but he needed to concentrate in order to activate his power. And right now, his brain couldn’t concentrate on anything else but the anticipation and tickly sensations.
“Mariahaha, nohohoho!” Shadow couldn’t hold back the anticipatory giggles as Maria slowly inched her wiggling fingers closer to his torso.
Flopping on his back again, Shadow tried to roll away from his villainous friend. Maria quickly reached out, swiftly yanking him back by his sides into her lap.
Now feeling more vulnerable than ever, Shadow frantically tried to squirm free. No luck—why was his super strength sucked out of him when he really needed it the most?!
“Shadow…the more you try to get away, the longer I’m going to tickle youuu~!”
Shadow batted her hands like an angry kitten. “Stohohop tahahalking to me like thahahahat!”
“Like whaaaaat~?”
“Juhust stohoh—AAAH!”
Shadow yelped as his left wrist was yanked upwards. Before he could protest, he shrieked as Maria began kneading his lowest rib.
“Okay, oneee…”
“NAHAHAHAHAO!!”
“Twoooo…”
“STA—STAHAHAHAAAAP!!”
“Threeee…Shadow, hold still! You’re going to make me lose count!”
Maria was having a ball teasing her friend this way. Who knew the ultimate lifeform was so ticklish and susceptible to baby talk?
And Shadow? His ears were pressed flat at how embarrassed the tickles were making him, especially the silly feeling of being cradled in someone’s lap. Even his tail was betraying him; he could feel it wagging behind his back. He just hoped Maria didn’t notice.
She did. But she didn’t say anything as she knew her friend would feel embarrassed if she pointed it out. So she just continued kneading at Shadow’s ribs, slowly moving to the next one and enjoying hearing the stoic hedgehog squeal uncharacteristically.
The higher she got, the louder and more frantic Shadow’s laughter became. When she managed to get to his sixth rib, she paused. “Hmm…aw man, I lost count. Guess we’ll have to start over.”
Shadow’s eyes widened. “What?! N-No you don’t! You were at six!!”
“Was I? I don’t know, it’s just so hard to remember with you squirming around and trying to push my hands away. Oh well~!”
“Mariaha, I swear…if you try ihit again, I’ll—NAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!
Maria cut him by digging all her fingers against Shadow’s ribcage, vibrating rapidly. “Sorry, whaddya say?”
“MAHARIAAAAHAHAHAHA!!”
“I’m right here, Shadow. No need to yell.”
Ohh the teasing. Somehow, it made everything so much worse. As much as Shadow was losing it, he also didn’t want to accidentally hurt his friend with all his squirming and kicking.
Maria, of course, took advantage of him not fighting back. She moved her hands around, tickling every spot she could possibly reach.
When her fingers scribbled down to his belly, Shadow arched his back with a loud squeal. He managed to roll out of Maria’s lap, and immediately covered his mouth with his gloved hands. He couldn’t believe he was capable of making a sound so high-pitched like that. So embarrassing!
“Oh my—hahaha! Shadow!” Maria doubled over in giggles. “That was soooo cute! I didn’t know you could squeal like that! I guess I found a really good tickle spot! No, wait—the Ultimate Tickle Spot!”
Shadow could feel his entire face burn crimson by that statement. His ears pressed flat as he huffed, pretending to act all nonchalant. “N-No that’s—that’s not—whatever! That’s ridiculous to say! And not true!”
“Uh-huuuhhh…Don’t worry, Shadow. I won’t tell anyone. My lips are sealed!”
“There’s nothing to tell anyone!” Shadow objected.
“What, that you screech so adorably loud when I tickle you riiiiight…here?” Maria quickly reached out to scratch at his furry tummy again. Shadow flinched away with another loud squeal, falling on his back again. “Awww!! See? I wonder if any of the other scientists have found out about this? Oooh, what if they do?! Then you’d be in reeeal trouble, Shadow!”
Even though he knew Maria was just teasing, the thought of having this embarrassing secret be discovered by the GUN scientists made Shadow genuinely panic. What if she was right? Nobody would ever let him live it down or take him seriously for the rest of his life. And the Professor…what would he even do if he found out the ultimate lifeform was secretly ticklish? He’d rather get disintegrated by his own chaos energy than letting that happen.
He snapped out of his thoughts with a little gasp as Maria pulled him back into her lap again. Now cradled and facing her again, Shadow frowned. “You better not mention this to anyone.”
Maria smiled. “Don’t worry, your cute secret’s safe with me.” She playfully booped Shadow’s tummy, who squeaked at that before trying to cover it up with a cough.
“I mean it, Maria!” The black hedgehog’s ears lowered. “If anyone finds out about this offensive tactic because of you, I’ll…I’ll steal your roller skates! And never give them back.”
Maria let out a long dramatic gasp, half-pretending to be greatly appalled by that threat. “Threatening the second thing I love most? First one being you, of course.” She lowered her tone to sound icy. “But my roller skates? Stealing my skates..?”
Shadow was worried for a split second if he had accidentally made Maria legitimately angry. Now he really regretted his choice of words. He could feel a cold chill run down his spine at his friend—his normally sweet and bubbly—friend’s tone, and the way she tightened her grip.
What he didn’t expect was to burst into hysterics as Maria ruthlessly tickled him. She furiously dug one hand into his belly while the other was shoved under his arm. And this time, she wasn’t playing nice anymore. No matter which way he squirmed, her fingers kept tickling and he couldn’t break free.
“NAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!! MARIAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!! WAHAHAIT, PLEAHEEHEEHEEHEASE!! I-I’M SO-HAHAHAHAAAA!! I’M SORRY!!”
“I’m sorry, too, Shadow,” Maria said with faux sympathy. “I’m sorry that I do not accept your apology!”
“WHAHAHAHAT?! YOU—YOU CAHAHAN’T DO THA—HAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!” Maria cut him off by using both hands to furiously tickle his belly. “NOHAAAAEEEEEEEHEHEHAAAAAA!! NAHAHAHO, PLEAHEEHEEHEEEEEASE!! NAHAHAHAT THEHEHEHERE!! IHIHI’M REAHEEHEEHEALLY SOHOHORRY!! AAAAHAHAHA!! I DIHIHIHIDN’T MEAN IHIHIHIT!!
Shadow frantically batted at Maria’s scribbling hands, trying to push them anywhere else but his stomach. But that proved to be a mistake, as Maria switched from tickling his belly to his underarms, down to his ribs, then back to his belly, over and over so he couldn’t get used to the tickly feeling.
Eight seconds later, Shadow was starting to lose it. Maria was wielding a very evil duo attack: she had one hand softly fluttering behind his back (he had no idea he was even ticklish there, either. How many tickle spots did he have?!) while the other scribbled the center of his tummy. Having two spots targeted simultaneously made his body confused; he didn’t know if he should arch away or curl inward.
Even though Maria had softened up her touch, that wasn’t the bad part. It was the awful teasing words she was cooing in his ear that made him want to combust. “Tickle tickle, Shadow~! Who’s a ticklish wittle baby hedgehog? It’s youuu~! Aww, you’re trying so hard to get away, but you can’t! Aww, does that fluster you? Me saying the word ‘tickle’? How about…tickletickletickletickle!! Tickle tickle tickle! Tiiiickle tickle tickleeee~!”
Shadow felt like he was going to burst into flames. That evil baby talk was going to be the death of him! Tickly shocks plagued his entire body.
“M-MARIAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! C’MOHAHAHAHAHON, PLEAHEEHEEHEEHEASE!! AHAHAHAHAHA!! I’M REAHEEHEEALLY SORRY!! IHIHIHI’LL DO ANYTHIHIHIHIHING, JUHUHUST STAAAAHAHAHAHAHAP!! NOHO MOHOHOHORE!!”
Maria finally showed mercy and ceased her tickling. “Tell you what, I’ll make you a deal. You apologize for doubting yourself and for threatening to steal my skates, and then you promise you’ll never doubt yourself ever again because you’re Shadow the Hedgehog. And Shadow the Hedgehog is amazing and awesome at everything he does.”
Shadow weakly nodded with a soft eye roll. “Fihihine…” Just as he was about to open his mouth to say the required words, his eyes widened at Maria hovering her wiggling fingers over him like tickling crane claws. “Mariahaha, nohohoho! I cahahahan’t say ihihit if you’re doing thahahahat!”
“This is to make sure you’re serious about your promise and the things you say,” she smirked. “Go on and say it. If you don’t, I’ll have to tickle you again~!”
Shadow curled in the fetal position. “NOHOHO! You better nohohohot!”
“Then say it!”
“Okay, okahahay!” Shadow tried to get the words out, but Maria’s teasing fingers weren’t helping. They kept inching closer, slowly wiggling towards his stomach or making pinching motions towards his ribs, before pulling away at the last second.
And poor Shadow was consumed with anticipatory giggles that wouldn’t let him get a single word out. “Maria, that’s cheaheeheeheating! You cahahan’t do thahat!”
“Shadow, you have thirty seconds before I tickle you to death.”
“NO! Okay, fihihine!” Shadow breathed a giggly sigh. He tried to fix his gaze on Maria’s eyes instead of her teasing fingers. “Maria, I’m sohohorry for doubting myself…and threatening to steal your skates. I promihihise I won’t ever doubt myself again. There, I said it.”
“And?” she pressed. When Shadow didn’t want to say, she gave him a few quick side tases.
“AAAH! OkAHAhahay! And! Because…” He sighed. “I’m Shadow the Hedgehog, and Shadow the Hedgehog is amazing and awesome at everything he does.”
Maria smiled in satisfaction. She pulled her claw hands away, and gave Shadow gentle rubs to the head. “I accept your apology. And your promise.” She gave him a hug. “Now was that so hard to do?”
Shadow scoffed. “Very.”
“But don’t you feel better?”
“…Yeah. Thank you, Maria…really. You always know how to help me feel better. I really don’t know what I’d do without you. Thank you again for everything.”
The two embraced in a warm hug. When they finally broke, Shadow gave her a stern look. “Don’t think I won’t try and get revenge for your little stunt you pulled today.”
Maria laughed, not taking the hint. “Oh, Shadow. No you wouldn’t. You love me too much as a friend. C’mon, let’s head back.” She suddenly yawned. “I’m getting tired.”
Shadow nodded, softening his expression. “Of course. Here,” he took her hand. “No need to walk all the way back.” He activated his chaos energy, and teleported them back to Maria's room. She invited Shadow to stay and sleep together in the blanket fort, which he happily accepted.
Once they were nestled under the blankets, Shadow decided to enact his revenge. No way was he going to let her get away with tickling the ultimate lifeform. Very carefully, he slid his hand under the blanket. When his fingers found Maria’s side, he started gently squeezing.
Maria squeaked and burst into giggles. “Shahahahadow! EEEEheeheeheehee!”
Now it was Shadow’s turn to smirk. “Did you really think I wasn’t going to get back at you after what you did to me?”
“I don’t knohohow! Mahahaybe? EEEEEHEEEK!! Shahahadow, wAHAHAhahait!!” Maria squealed and giggled louder as the hedgehog delivered rapid pokes up and down her ribs. She batted at his hand, and tried curling on her side.
“Oh, did I miss a spot here?” Shadow pointed out as he poked her other side of ribs. He smiled as he heard her bright giggles.
Maria tried shielding herself by pulling her blanket over her head.
“Trying to evade my revenge will only make things worse!” Shadow declared, yanking the blanket off of her. Maria squealed in surprise, opting to hug her torso for protection. She turned her back to the hedgehog.
“Do you really think that’s going to stop me?” Shadow playfully remarked, raising an amused eyebrow. He was surprised Maria wasn’t putting in a lot of effort to try and stop him, like he did with her. He figured maybe this was just something she secretly liked.
Shadow gently traced imaginary lines up and down the girl’s spine, eliciting more high-pitched giggles. She simply covered her mouth with both hands, and twitched at the soft touch but didn’t try to move away.
Shadow took that as his cue to continue. Time to turn the tables. “Hey, Maria, remember that rhyming chant you always liked to use to mess with me? Well, let’s see if it works on you, too!” He traced another set of parallel lines down her spine. “Let’s see, line line, spider crawling up your spine…” his gloved hand switched to a scribbly claw. “Pat pat…” He gently patted her shoulder blades before…
“Heart attack!” Shadow suddenly reached out to tase Maria’s sides.
Maria squealed loudly and shrieked laughter as the tases didn’t stop. “EEEEEK!! ShAHAHAdow! AAAheeheehahaha!! WAHAhahait, noho faHAHAhair!! I’m only supposed to do th—AAAH! Thahahat to you!!”
“Well, now I’m doing it to you!” The snarky hedgehog pointed out. “This is what you get for pulling all your devious stunts on me!”
Instead of letting her answer, Shadow decided to be mean and slipped his hand under her pajama shirt, gently digging into her belly the same way she’d done with him. The reaction was priceless; Maria screeched and flailed as if she was being electrocuted, but that didn’t deter Shadow.
“SHAHAHAHAHDOW!! AAAAAHEHEHEHAHAHAHAAAA!! WAHAHAHAIT THAT REALLY—EEEEEEHEEHEEHEE!! TIHIHIHICKLES!! EEEEEEEEEK!! NAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Maria’s flailing arm suddenly smacked Shadow on the head. He ducked as her elbow almost collided with his jaw. He decided to turn the tables one last time by slipping his free hand behind her to scribble her back while still fluttering his other against her belly.
“EEEEEEHEEHEEEHEAAAAHAHAHA!! HEHEHEHEY, NO FAHAHAHAHAIR!!”
Shadow kept tickling the girl for a few more seconds before her laughter turned silent. He stopped immediately, suddenly concerned. “Maria? Are you okay?” He shook her shoulder. “Did I go too far?”
Maria shook her head as she panted, her cheeks dusted a pink hue. She sat up, coughing between pants.
Shadow became very worried, guilt washing over him. “I’m sorry, I should have stopped.”
“Shadow, it’s okay,” Maria insisted once she caught her breath. “I’m okay, really. I was just laughing really hard.” She giggled, adjusting her shirt. “You really got me good back there. But I’m fine, I promise.”
She smiled reassuringly, which Shadow felt relieved for. He didn’t want to accidentally tire her out too quickly, even if she half-deserved it. “Just…don’t try that on me again, or else I won’t be so merciful next time,” he told her.
Maria laughed it off, completely unfazed by his little threat. “No promises. I’ve never heard you laugh before, Shadow. But it was so cute! And I never knew you were ticklish, either. But I am so gonna tickle you now every chance I get!” She waggled her eyebrows cheekily. “Maybe that’ll teach you not to be so pouty all the time!”
Shadow’s mouth dropped agape, but he recovered in the next second. “Try it, and I’ll make you sorry you ever did.”
“Oooh, soooo scary.”
“You should be. You just never learn, do you?”
“Nope!”
Shadow shook his head with a faint smile. “We better get to sleep. It’s not healthy to stay up so late.”
Maria was about to protest when a yawn interrupted her. Giving up with a tired sigh, she snuggled under the blankets again. Shadow adjusted the blanket for her, making sure she was covered before handing Maria her bear that was discarded off to the side during all her tickly induced flailing.
Maria sleepily smiled and cuddled her plush bear close. Then, Shadow slid under the blanket next to her. Once comfy, he faced his friend who was almost asleep.
“Good night, Maria. Sweet dreams.”
Maria reached out to pet Shadow’s head. “Good night, Shadow,” she sleepily replied, eyes barely open. “Sweet dreams and sleep tight.”
Shadow smiled warmly, and gently petted her head in return. The soft glow of the fairy lights hanging above combined with the warmth of the fuzzy blankets and pillows quickly lulled Shadow into a peaceful sleep. So much better than sleepless nights floating in a giant test tube.
The two friends slept blissfully together, protected in the safe space of their blanket fort. And for the first time since Maria had discovered him in the lab, Shadow slept tranquil enough to not have any nightmares or doubting thoughts. Nothing could harm him as long as they had each other.

SONIC
↝pretends to act like it’s no big deal whenever you gift him your art but is actually giggling and kicking his feet internally so proud of it, smugly grinning if someone asks where he got it from
↝your number 1 supporter when it comes to displaying your results. he may not have anywhere to put them to show—until the two of you move in together—but he’s keeping whatever he can, like the small post-it note doodle depicting the two of you as distinguishable stick figures holding hands with a heart above that two of you. the edges are dirtied and torn but, in the safety of his glove, tucked into the fold and held with a band, the picture is intact. despite its simplicity, it’s his favorite reminder of you and he often pulls it out when he’s alone to reminisce
↝when, one day, you had tilted your sketchbook to show him your drawing of the chaos, he noticed a familiar shade of blue on the edge of the paper behind. with a teasing, “ooh, what's this?”, he lifted the page with a smile at your sudden embarrassment only to find a colored picture of himself
↝he knew it was coming but still was caught off guard by it, lifting a hand to smugly rub his nose and a force suave demeanor to hide his fluster. he called you his loyal fan only to play it off but you knew better than to believe his cool act, able to spot the faint shade of affection on him a mile away
↝by the way you copied his presence down on the paper, he could see the love you had for him; each line was perfect and the moments you captured him in were candid. to be made aware that your eyes watched him the most made him feel giddy almost, like you were proud to be with him
SHADOW
⛧he’s not used to having many belongings, so when you gift him something he’s full of question. of course, he’s touched that you thought of him, feeling his heart flutter when you present him with a personal gift, but he’s not sure what to do with it
⛧eventually, he’ll start leaving them around your house with a note on the back claiming his ownership of it and the date he received it underneath a short description of how/where you’d given it to him. it’s pretty redundant considering his memory is shockingly strong and even without his neat scribbles he could tell you the exact scenario of each craft, but he likes the domesticity of it
⛧when he discovers your sketchbook, left open and unattended when you’d excused yourself to use the bathroom, he’s silent. you would never be able to tell he’d seen the collection of tiny shadow drawings scattered all across the pages because he doesn’t say or act any differently. it’s internally that he’s a whirlwind of expression, feeling moved by the discovery of how you saw him and vulnerable to the tide of love that rose in his heart
⛧now, as he’s more aware of it, he catches you admiring him often and can’t stop the barely visible flush that pulls him into a stoic expression as he tries to fight to keep his composure
⛧likes to be near you whenever you’re locked inside a creative bubble; there’s something so peaceful about the way you focus, the only sound being the drag of your pencil and the occasional music. the joy you feel in creating is felt by shadow, and maybe thats why he likes to watch the way you blend colors, staining your hands in them. just like the art brings color to the canvas, you are a dazzle that makes his life vibrant
SILVER
ʚ♡ɞ saves all your work, even if they’re little doodles you drew on a napkin
ʚ♡ɞ you have to be careful with what you give him because it will always end up stored wherever he lives, put on display for him to see everyday. everything from a paper fortune teller that had silly comments scribbled inside to full on portraits; he takes each product of yours to be an artifact worth keeping safe
ʚ♡ɞ he loves to watch you too, often sitting beside you and narrating his thoughts as his eyes follow your creative process. sometimes he’ll ask if he can draw with you, wanting to catch the image of you in your best space down on paper, but it turns out he’s not that good
ʚ♡ɞ the day he stumbled across your sketchbook accidentally left behind in his garden, he’s curiously going through it not realizing that it might be an invasion of privacy. it shocks him at first to see the pages filled with himself, scenes of him doing his own thing decorated little cartoonish dialogue and hearts, but then he’s growing shy because how often had he missed your admiring eyes—yet, at the same time, he’s in awe of your talent to have caught a vision where no one else could see it
ʚ♡ɞ closing your book, he immediately set off to find you even though you had just left, flying fast through the sky to catch up. once he sees you, he’s diving down, calling your name before crashing into you in a swirl of limbs. his arms pull you into a hug and he lifts you into the sky with him in a twirl, “you're so amazing,” he told you excitedly with overflowing affection, “how do you do it? How can you make me love you more each day?!”
ʚ♡ɞ it makes him a bit sad to know he can’t capture memories the way you do, able to let them live on forever outside his own mind, so when you introduce him to photography he goes crazy. he has a million pictures of you, some with paint on your face, some with you fully concentrated on your craft, even some of you proudly presenting your art
METAL SONIC
▹doesn’t think much of it at first, seeing it similar to the way Eggman would design blueprints for his tech inventions, but then he notices a pattern
▹whenever you looked at him, you did so in a way that was almost analyzing and lasting a few moments before you turned down to run your pencil over the book in your lap. a consequence of his sentience was that whisper of curiosity that whirred in his mind making him wonder all about you
▹this time was no different, he wanted an answer to explain your behavior. so when you looked down at your hands he moved to appear behind you, silent without the need to power up his strength and quick enough that you wouldn’t notice he’d disappeared from in front of you. peering over your shoulder, he heard you humming softly as you traced lead streaks into a shape of…him? the center of the page depicted him from the side, staring off the edge of the book, so detailed in the bolts that held him together; surrounding the main image were more skeletal sketches, but still all of him
▹your admiration of him stuck something in him—a decision nailed into his very existence: he loved you. he was almost certain that if he could know how to hate then he must also know how to love. he felt its assurance in the way he was calm in your presence, seeking it out without much thought, and in the way he wanted you with him forever. in his eyes, your mortality didn’t exist because he could not imagine his life without you anymore
▹he doesn’t know what to do with the gifts you give him so he just puts them in a box somewhere in the laboratory, but he’s very, very, protective of it. if anyone who is not his creator gets too close to that box, he’s letting out a beeping warning, glowing eyes narrowing with threat until the perpetrator backs away. should anything happen to his stash, he might actually crash out even if you soothe him saying you’ll give him more…
ESPIO
જ hangs your art up in the agency office, he doesn’t care that Charmy and Vector tease him for it either, calling him a big softie—at the end of the day they can all agree it’s a nice touch of life to the ‘professional’ setting
જ lets you paint his horn too, only if you use safe ingredients and so long as he can wash it off when he needs to. this mostly happens when he’s not going to work for a day or two but is still an often enough occurrence that all his friends have already seen him decorated. it embarrassed him at first but he couldn’t say no to you when you looked so excited—now he sees it as just another camouflage technique
જ he likes to give you gifts in return, usually revolving around your art; pencils he heard good things about, colors he saw while he was on a case and thought you’d like, erasers that were branded to be twice as effective and long lasting. you sometimes might receive something that you’ve tried before and didn’t like, but you don’t have the heart to tell him that when he’d gone so far as to wrap it up with a bow and note for you
જ when you had fallen asleep at the table, head resting on your sketchbook, Espio had taken it upon himself to move you to the couch so you wouldn’t hurt your neck. he spotted a familiar shape on the open page, growing curious as he fixed a throw blanket over you before stepping back towards the table. in front of him was a half done sketch of him meditating, that image alone wouldn’t have made him stop in his tracks, but the surrounding little comments and distracted doodles did. there was an arrow that pointed to the main sketch and a simple “love of my life ♡” attached that made him look back at you
જ it was a moment of over abundant love when he took up your pencil to reply in his all-caps penmanship: “𝘓𝘖𝘝𝘌 𝘖𝘍 𝘔𝘐𝘕𝘌. -𝘌” before circling your signature and connecting a line to his words. closing your book, he placed the pencil atop the cover before moving to place a gentle kiss to your forehead

I found you!
Werehog Sonic x reader
Genre: fluf
Warnings: none
A/n: has the Hatsune Miku mod for unleashed made me do this? Yes. Have I took some many screenshots of the YouTube video? Yes. I love unleashed, I had the game when I was a kid, but it always crashed in the same section, probably cause it was a pirated version my sibling bought

You felt a swoosh pass right next to you, it was as if you woke from a bad dream. In your disoriented head, you scanned your surroundings for clues of what had happened; it was night in the city, just as you remembered it, you were taking a walk before falling unconscious, yet the only thing that seemed to change was the position of the sun. However, a part of you felt odd, out of place, how you're used to feeling after a breakdown. You turned your body around when you heard a groan behind you, you choked at the sight before you, a dark blue werewolf, no, werehog, who was busy catching his breath, it gave you enough time to fully take him in.
A broad complexion covered in a heavy dark blue fur coat, it thickens at the extremities in a white tone. Big hands that sported long claws and horn-looking ears, it was unlike anything you've seen before. The shoes though, seemed more familiar, a pair of sneakers, other than the darker in color and with spikes on the top and the sole, you recognize those... The lack of gloves threw you off at first, but at the same time, the more you stared, the more you connected those features with someone.
"S-sonic...?" You carefully asked, not wanting to mistake him for someone else, that would be too embarrassing considering the major differences. He finally looked up, surprised, but before he could say or do anything, you let out a scream. "Oh, Chaos! You're so fluffy!" You dashed up to him and patted his head.
You heard him groan your name, but you didn't care, as you continued petting, now more aggressively. He tried to pry your hand off, a a crimson color had crept on his face from the embarrassing interaction, yet, you fought him off and pushed away his attempts. The overload of cuteness made you jump up and down, analyzing his new look, over-joyous, your eyes were glimmering in response.
"You look so cute!" Finally, you took a couple of steps back, a big smile displayed on your face, unable to contain your feelings. Sonic shook his fur, a way to put it back in place, even so, he only made it puff up. You chuckle at his look, earning a glare and a light growl from him, though it didn't last long as his demeanor switched to a more casual one.
"How are you feeling?" His eyes examined you up and down, trying to see if you had been harmed while he battled. You stared down at yourself, but nothing was out of the ordinary, you felt pretty normal, if you were not considering the shivering feeling in the back of your mind, you shrugged without giving it any importance. A gasp then escaped from you when from out of nowhere, a purple creature flew up to you, carrying a giant chocolate bar in his arms.
"Want some chocolate?" His groggy high-pitched voice made you forget the shock, anyone who offered chocolate was good in your book. So, you gladly took a piece, letting it melt in your mouth, the sweetness made the weird sensation in your mind go away. You hummed in satisfaction and almost fell into the sensation when you heard Sonic laugh at your reaction way louder than his typical laugh.
"Hey! Is that a way to treat someone you just saved?!" You huff and put a foot down with force as you hug yourself while looking away with a pout on your face. The realization came down upon you, thus your head snapped back to his direction and gasped. "Wait, is this why you disappeared out of nowhere?" He sheepishly scratched the back of his head, his eyes dropped to the ground, and his shoes suddenly became so interesting to him.
"It wasn't on purpose." It was true, it slipped his mind to contact anyone, only talking to his friends that somehow appeared on his path. His mind was too occupied helping Chip, the jesting between the two and traveling from continent to continent made it impossible to have some downtime. It was a miracle he casually found Tails without needing to search for him.
"Nothing with you is on purpose." You giggled, you had missed him, it was getting infuriating dealing with Tails non-answers-answers, he could be a good liar, but with enough pushing he crumbled, yet still kept the secret. You had become used to him just popping in and out of your life, just like the wind, he moved nonstop with the flow, just facing whatever life threw at him. "Saving the world again?"
"You know me!" He gave you his iconic cheeky smile, arrogant and genuine at the same time. He was still the same deep down, his heart could endure any tragedy, even becoming whatever he was right now. Chip was now floating around you, playing with your hair as if you were a horse or a bike, you didn't pay any attention to him, your focus still on the werehog.
"Brrrrrrr...."
"You look good like that." You pressed a finger against his chest, giving him a flirtatious smirk, the height difference made you glance up, unlike in his normal form where he was the one who had to do that. He stiffed up at the closeness of your bodies, Sonic once again his face flushed, troubled with how to deal with this as Chip continued to play with your hair. "It suits you well, maybe we can go out if you still look like that"
"Brrruuuuuummm..."
He tried to laugh it off, but with all of his senses heightened when in this form, he hadn't gotten used to it yet, only for battling, though outside of that he was a giant awkward mess. He missed his slim form, not running was making him more and more relentless, as he was not used to not burning so much energy, and running only during the day was not sufficient. "Maybe, maybe..." he awkwardly responded, hiding himself more in his own form.
"Brwaaaaa...."
"Ok, Chip, stop that." He waved off the weird animal from your hair, as he got more irritated with his antics. Chip pouted offended, flying off into the distance. Their dynamic made you laugh, wrinkles forming on the corner of your eyes as you closed them a bit, it seemed like they'd known each other for years, despite knowing that that wasn't true. Sonic changed the topic to one more he was comfortable with, he wouldn't have had a problem continuing the bantering in normal circumstances, but you barely made out of their influence. "You shouldn't be out this late, Dark Gaia remnants are getting more and more dangerous."
"So that was what you saved me from." You hummed as you backed away from him for a bit. "If I'm being honest, I don't remember anything from it.¨ You confessed, both of you now taking a more serious posture, if Sonic told you it was trouble, then it was big trouble. You felt when he put his big hand on your head, playfully messing your hair a bit, not wanting to appear so sappy.
"Just don't go out at night, ok? you'll be fine that way." His tone was sincere, he truly worried for the people closest to him, especially the ones who couldn't fight back. You nodded, knowing that taking his words at heart would be the safest option, you glimpsed back towards the path of your house.
"I guess, it'd be better if I start going then." An awkward silence descended between the two of you, struggling between not wanting to leave and doing what he said. He nodded in confirmation and slapped you in the back, making you jump. "Hey! That was mean!"
"Sure, whatever you say, dumbass..." He dismissed you, waving his oversized hands around not caring for your complaints. Even though his actions may seem rude, there was a hint of affection and sentimentality in them. You grumbled before kissing him on the cheek, leaving him shocked.
"Byee! Thanks for saving me by the way!" You waved the two goodbye as you ran off to the distance, if it was all true, you should stay home at night from now on, it was safer and you'd never say no as an excuse to not go out. The duo waved back, Chip happy to finally be acknowledged in a positive way, even if it was just taking his offer.
"Are you dating?" Chip spoke up as the two started going their own way, already heading to their next destination after your little inconvenience, his lack of filter working at his best as always. Sonic jerked up in shock, a bashful look mixed in with a rosiness, not expecting that question at all.
"No way! Never in a million years!" He yelled and checked over his shoulder hoping you were far enough to not hear any of their conversation, letting out a short sigh as he saw you nowhere around. Chip snickered mischievously, wiggling his eyebrows in a teasing manner.
"Oh really? It was weirder than that pink one! Tell me you at least like them~" He pressed his face against Sonic's, and a growl came from his chest, nonetheless, it didn't scare Chip off, it only made the teasing intensify, now booping his cheek. "Come on, I've never seen you so shy, I'll even keep this secret."
Sonic's arm extended and grabbed onto the edge of a balcony before he propelled himself off into the air, then he swung around the building while shunning the purple creature's comments, leaving Chip to hold onto his fur for his dear life and cry from the top of his lungs, he wasn't prepared for taking off so suddenly, such an ass who can't handle some teasing.

Lost in the Dark
(Shadow the Hedgehog x Reader – Angst)
Raindrops shimmered like glass under the dim glow of the streetlights. The air was cold—just like Shadow’s eyes. You were staring into them, but his mind was somewhere else.
“How many times do I have to tell you?” he muttered, his voice almost lost in the wind. “Stay away from me.”
You swallowed hard. You had expected him to push you away, but not like this. Not this harshly.
“Shadow, why are you doing this?” Your voice trembled. “Don’t tell me you don’t care, because I won’t believe you.”
His fists clenched. He turned his gaze away from you, as if accepting your words would only make things worse.
“Caring…” he repeated, his voice distant. His red eyes gleamed for a moment in the darkness. “Everyone I’ve ever cared about is dead.”
A chill ran down your spine. Maria. Professor Gerald. His past was darker than any shadow he could ever cast.
“All I had left was revenge,” he continued, his voice like stone. “But then you… You stepped into this darkness and tried to change something. But you don’t understand, do you?”
His eyes met yours. He was angry. He was broken. And worst of all, he was afraid.
“If I lose you too, I won’t recover.”
Silence. Only the sound of the rain remained. Then, slowly, you reached out and touched his trembling hand. He almost pulled away—but instead, for the first time, he held on.
“I’m here, Shadow,” you whispered. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
That night, in the cold rain, for the first time in a long while, Shadow didn’t feel so alone.

Wine Red
──────────── ⋆⋅ ♰ ⋅⋆ ──────────────
Movie! Shadow x gn! Reader
Word count: 3,5K
Synopsis: You find Shadow after he crashed down to earth (again)
(A/n): ‼️Spoilers for Sonic 3 and the first after credits scene‼️
──────────── ⋆⋅ ♰ ⋅⋆ ──────────────
"The Wheel Of Fortune...The High Priestess...and The Lovers!" A hand flips around three tarot cards, naming each one. "Follow your intuition and you will meet your fated one!".
A (animal) mobian lets out an amused sigh, leaning on their hand. "Rosy, you've been giving me readings since you discovered it and each time I get the same fortune".
Amy smiles, placing her hands on the table. "That means it is definitely true!" She exclaims, excitedly. She gathers her cards back into the pile and picks three from them. "Alright...The Chariot...The Sun and...The Lovers! Yes!".
"So you have to go out and find the one?" (Y/n) guesses, having a bit of knowledge of it because of their friend. They watch the pink Hedgehog do a victory dance.
"What do you think fits me the best" Amy strolls over to her closet. She places a green hairband on her head, turning to (Y/n). "It matches my eyes, but I'm not sure" She tosses it off when she sees her friend shaking their head.
"Black? Not my style. Pink? Blends too much with my quills. Orange? Clashes too much. Blue?" She places a blue hairband on her head, adjusting it to be comfortable.
(Y/n) gets up and walks up to the Hedgehog. They gently remove the hairband from her. "Baby blue is not your color, maybe a brighter blue. But I think red fits you the best" They suggest.
"You're saying that because you love red" Amy takes the band from their hands and placing it on their head. "I think it suits you more".
"Thanks Rosy" (Y/n) smiles, brushing their hands against the headband.
"No problem!" The girl replies, placing a red head on her own head. "Now let's go find them" She turns to the empty pinboard, tapping her bottom lip. "Now to pin down their location" she tapes a drawing of planets in the board and throws a dart at it. It lands on a round blue and green planet.
(Y/n) walks over and looks at the small text underneath the planet. "Eeth? Uth? Ert...Earth Earth, like dirt?" They read outloud. "It looks pretty big, it's possibly gonna take ages when you finally find him".
"I am also prepared for that" Amy removes the drawing and places a map of earth. She throws another dart, almost hitting (Y/n)'s head. It lands on a big piece of land on the left side, in bold letters it says "UNITED STATES".
Immediately, Amy speeds around the room. She stuffs clothes, toothbrush, hairbrush, her harmer into a suitcase. She stood on it, trying to make it fit.
"Amy, Amy, hold on" (Y/n) places their hand on her shoulder. "You can't just rush to a planet you don't even know to find the one and how are you supposed to know it's them. Remember last time you went off, I had to go get you and bandage you up"
Amy seemed to deflate at (Y/n)'s argument, her smiles turns to a pout. She turns to her friend, giving them puppy eyes. Her puppy eyes were quite effective, challenging Cream's ones.
Giving in, (Y/n) sighs. "How about this: I go to Earth and see if it is safe for you to travel there" They offer, just wanting the best for their friend.
"Thank you, thank you!" The pink mobian exclaims, hugging the (animal). She was extremely grateful they would do this for her.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
"Already traveling to other planets, They're growing up so fast" Vector wipes his tears with a hankerchief, blowing his nose with it.
"They aren't that much younger than you" Espio calls him out. He turns to (Y/n) "Be careful".
Amy, along with their other friends stand next to eachother. They bid the (animal) goodbye, the mobians know they will be gone for a while, so they want to give a well made goodbye.
"You beter bring me a souvenir back!" Charmy requests, pulling at (Y/n)'s arm. He was pulled off by Vector, who was still crying.
Vanilla approaches the (f/c) (animal), placing a container in their hands. "I made some cake for the journey, I hope you will enjoy it" The two hug, before letting go.
Out of nowhere, (Y/n) feels something clinging to their leg. Looking down, they were met with Cream. She looked like she was about to cry, making (Y/n)'s heart melt. "You're gonna come back, right?"
The teen mobian smiles, patting the small rabbit's head. "Ofcourse, I promise" They nod. They walk to the spaceship as Cream lets go. (Y/n) gives a final wave, before stepping inside.

The ship flies down, crashing in the woods. The door was the ship creaks open. Come out crawling was (Y/n), letting out little grunts of pain. They push themself up, grabbing their bag and putting it onto their bag. "So this is earth, quite tall trees they have here".
They travel through the forrest, trying to find a good place to set up camp. Soon, find a small cave, big enough to sleep and leave her stuff. As they put down their back, they hear a tapping sound. They turn to the entrance, finding water fall from the sky. "Water?" Slowly, they walk over to the edge of the cave, holding out their hand. They feel the droplets fall onto their palm "Woah, so beautiful".
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
After countless journeys, the cave resembled more like a home. In the back sat a bed with a pillow and two blankets. At the side stood a wobbly table with a flower pot on it, a framed picture next to it of them and Amy. And finally hanging around were fairy lights they found in a trashcan.
(Y/n) sat ontop, living their legs back and forth. Their (e/c) eyes latch onto something what they assume is a comet flying across the midnight sky. It crashes down not too far away from the (animal)'s hideout.
They jump down, before rushing over where it landed. Pushing aside leaves of the trees, they gaze as the mysterious object from the sky. Light flickers from a crater, before it dims completely. They peek over to see what it was and...
"A hedgehog?"
A hedgehog with black and red quills, a patch of white fur on his chest. He was wearing white black and red gloves and shoes. Laying next to him were two slightly burned golden bracelets and a big green emerald.
Carefully, (Y/n) wraps the gem from the ground. They tense up as their feel a weird ticklish and prickly feeling go through her veins. "Woah" They mutter. They turns back to look at the hedgehog, finding that he was wounded.
They stuff the emerald and rings in their bag. Putting an arm under his knees and his back, struggling to hold him up. "Is he the one Amy is looking for?" They think outloud, walking back to their cave with the hedgehog in their arms.
Once they arrived, they lay the stranger on their bed pulling first aid kit from under the unstable table. They sit down on the mattress next to the hedgehog, taking a roll of bandage. They lift his head with one hand and wrapping his head with their other one. They continue with his other wounds, being as careful as they could be.
Not having much else to do, they lay the pillow and one of the blankets on the floor next to the bed. They lay down, pulling the blanket over their body. With that, they close their eyes and let their consciousness fade away.

Shadow's eye began to open, finding himself staring at rocks above him. He lets out a grunt of pain, feeling his head stinging. He tries to remember what happened, but his mind was left foggy.
"Oh, you're awake, that's good to see. I am surprised you're bot out longer, by the fact you literally crashed to earth"
A voice chirps, a sweet one. He turns his head, seeing a figure standing next to the bed he was one. They were slightly blurry as his red eyes still try to readjust to the bright light behind them. What he was able to make out was a a light blue headband resting on the person's head. "Maria..?" He groans.
"(Y/n), actually" The person corrects, with a soft smile. "(Y/n) the (animal). Nice to meet you. You got a name, stranger?" Their voice echoes through his mind, like a broken record.
"Maria, what happene–" He sits and gets up from the bed. He stumbles, almost falling over. Luckily, (Y/n) catched him before he could. He gazes down, finding part of arms bandaged up.
Carefully, (Y/n) pushes him back on the bed. "You shouldn't go walking off yet. Just because you're up early doesn't mean you get go dancing around like that. Please, just go rest" They suggest to the hedgehog. His behavior reminded them of Amy, how stubborn she always was after getting injured.
Shadow looks over to a barely stable table on the left. A picture frame, a flower pot and a big green emera– "Ah!" Shadow cries, gripping his head. Images flashes across his mind: Gerald Robotnik, a younger looking version of the doctor, blue, red, yellow and finally an explosion.
The (f/c) mobian frowns, pitying the Stranger. He has probably been through a lot, ofcourse be doesn't own them his story. "If you some quiet, I'll let you be" They propose, letting out a little sigh. They turn around, ready to leave the cave. They were stopped by the hedgehog grabbing their hand.
"I want you just stay, my head feels more at ease when you're near" He mumbles, avoiding their eyes. He feels them sitting down next to him, he had to stop himself from leaning into them. He wondered what the loose ties in his mind meant., trying to follow them made him want to scratch his own skin off.
"Can I finally know your name. I know I don't owe it, but I can't just call you 'hedgehog'" (Y/n) mentions, turning to the other.
"But you already know it, M–" Shadow shakes his head, responding with "My name is Shadow". He looks down at his gloves, finding something missing. "Where are my limiters?" He questions with urgency in his voice.(Y/n) reaches into her bag and takes the two golden rings from. "These one?" They ask, holding them for him to grab.
Snatching the slightly burned bracelets from their hands, Shadow snaps them around his wrists. He lets out a huff of relief as his finger trace the rim of it.
"It's nice to put a name to the face. I must say I quite like your eyes, they remind me of jaspers" (Y/n) compliments, glancing at the emerald and then back at the hedgehog's eyes.
Shadow pauses, before speaking up. "Your eyes are nice aswell, I suppose. They look like..." He trails off, realising he didn't know much gems. "They feel comforting" He mutters under his breath, just loud enough for (Y/n) to hear.
They didn't say anything, just kept staring. They noticed he was a bit cold and hesitant, but they didn't mind. It was the best to wait until he was ready to tell them what happened before he crashed into the woods.

Sigh
Tap tap tap
The sound of footsteps makes (Y/n) stir awake. They sit up, looking over to see Shadow standing the entrance of the cave, holding onto rock for stability. They notice he was just staring up at the sky, muttering something to himself.
Getting up, they quietly walk over to him. They hear him let out a hum, acknowledging their presence. "The stars shine so brightly. Usually not a lot of people see them, by the time they appear, everyone is sound asleep" Shadow mummers, not taking his eyes off of a particular star. "You're not Maria, I see that now. My mind was so fragmented, it merged my old memories with my vision"
"So that is why you called me that" (Y/n) concludes, thinking back to all the times he called her that name. "Are you finally going to tell me what happened to you? now that you got your memories back" They ask.
"My name is Shadow, project shadow. I was found in a meteor and was brought by a company called GUN. The lead researcher was Gerald Robotnik, his granddaughter, Maria, resided there aswell. Robotnik tried finding a cure for her illness through me, I began bonding with her" A barely visible smile appeared on his face as he tells the story, but is quickly fell as he continued.
"GUN wanted to take me away, Robotnik couldn't handle it. He tried escaping with me and Maria, Maria got killed in the crossfire. The doctor was arrested and I was frozen for fifty years. After that he got me out of there, bringing his grandson along. They wanted to blow up the Earth, but a blue hedgehog made me realise that that wasn't what Maria would've wanted. With the power of the master emerald, we steered the weapon away from Earth. The hedgehog was saved by his friends, I wasn't so lucky. I crashed down at that was where you found me"
"That is quite the story, Shadow. I was surprised to see another mobian here, but you tell me there is another one or even more. So are you going to leave now that your wounds were healed and your memories are back?" The (animal) inquires, kicking a rock near them. They wonder what the other hedgehog and his friends are like.
Shadow thinks, giving a quick look at the cave and then back to the sky. "I am grateful for everything you've done for me. It is probably too much to ask for shelter. I have nowhere to stay, I am not expecting Sonic to welcome me with open arms".
"Ofcourse you can stay" (Y/n) answer with hesitation, shuffling a bit closer to the hedgehog. "We should get another bed, cause no way one of us is going to sleep on the ground. Feel free to bring your own stuff in here, I won't mind sharing my cozy cave" They turn around to look at their home, with their hand on their hips. They already imagine the cave being filled more stuff, perhaps they could even find a better place to live.
(Y/n) pulls out their Snappie, unlocking it. "Hey, how about we do a shot for our first official day as cavemates" They suggest, holding up their device.
"A shot? Like alcohol?" Shadow repeats with a raised eyebrow. He eyes the object, confusion in his gaze.
The other mobian shakes their head, answering "No, it is short for a snapshot. Me and my best friend always made by special moments or just when were having fun, to make memories. These things can only make photos and send text, but I'm only able send photos to her"
They pull Shadow close as they raise their Snappie into the air. "Smile!" They grin, closing their eyes. As if magic, Shadow does as they say, having a small smile on face. They might not be Maria, but he doesn't mind. (Y/n) snaps the picture, not realising they weren't very visible on it because of how dark it was.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
Hours...Days...weeks passed by.
The cave grew fuller and resembled more like a home. Shadow mostly stayed in the cave, hesitant to leave it. (Y/n) actually caught him sleeping in their bed, which he denies ever happened. (Y/n) once spotted the fast blue hedgehog when looking for for food, but he sped before they could reach him.
One day, Shadow and (Y/n) were walking in the forrest. (Y/n) held the other's hand tightly, Shadow couldn't help but glance at it from time to time. They stop when they hear laughing and talking, it seemed like it was coming not too far away. The (f/c) (animal) leads their friend along with them as they talk closer, making sure not to make a sound.
(Y/n)'s eyes widen as they see Sonic, along with two humans, two mobians and a weird creature that walks on four legs. A red echidna and a yellow fox with two tails, quite a unique pair. "We should go say hi" (Y/n) says, about to walk through a bush infront of them.
But they were stopped by Shadow pulling them back, shaking his head. "We can't just bardge in there, they dont even know you" He argues. He sees how happy the other hedgehog seemed, making him feel envy. He was just getting close to (Y/n), he didn't want to risk losing her aswell.
They went back and forth, (Y/n) trying to pull away and Shadow pulling them back. But (Y/n) accidentally pulls a little too hard and pulls Shadow with them. Their body hit the ground with a small 'oof', they look up to see Shadow's face. His hands on were each side of their head and his knees were caging their legs, trying to not to fall into them
"Um, am I interuppting something?" A voice chimes, making the two freeze. Looking down at them was none other than Sonic, who came to check out the noise. He should've been surprised about Shadow being alive. But his attention was more towards the mentioned hedgehog was hovering above a (animal) he didn't regonise, not to mention close to where he was camping with his family.
Shadow quickly gets up and turns his head, hiding the blush he gotten from embarasment. It was one thing be get so close to his friend, it's another thing to be caught in that position by Sonic.
"You're Sonic, right?" (Y/n) pushes themselves up, brushing the dirt off of them. "I've heared a lot about you, it's great to finally meet you. I hope you don't mind if I and shadow join you guys"
"Ofcourse I don't mind, always great to meet a fan" Sonic scratches the back of his neck, grinning. He turns to the black and red hedgehog "We have a lot to catch up on". He walks back, motioning for the two to follow after him.
(Y/n) was about to go after him, when they notice Shadow didn't move a muscle. They exhale, approaching their friend. Their hands grasps those belonging to Shadow, tracing the back of his hands with their thumbs. "I know you have trouble connecting, but I want to make more friends to connect with and rely on".
Taking in their words, Shadow hesitantly nods. He lets them drag him through the bush and to where the group was. "Hey there" (Y/n) greets, waving.
Their voice takes the attention of the two humans and mobians. The human and fox's Jaws dropped, the latter dropping his marshmallow into the fire. "I win!" The echidna cheers, raising his marsmellow on a stick in the air. He notices that the others were staring at something, so he follows their gaze. After like a month of thinking Shadow died, he stood there infront of them.
"How did you survive the explosion o-or even the earth atmosphere, me and Sonic only barely got to safety thanks to Knuckles" Tails stutters, remembering Knuckles using a ring last second to teleport them away.
Shadow crosses his arms. "I am the ultimate life form, I won't be killed that easily" He pauses. "After I crashed, (Y/n) took me in and cared for me" He adds, glancing at the mentioned creature next to him.
Feeling the attention drawn to them, (Y/n) perks. "Oh, right, I should probably introduce myself. I am (Y/n) the (animal), nice to meet you all" They mention, smiling. They reach into their bag and pulls out the big emerald. "I found this near Shadow, do you know wha–"
"THE MASTER EMERALD!"
The echidna stands up (after chomping his marshmallow) and walks up to (Y/n) with his hands out. (Y/n) places the green gem in his grasp, looking up at the tall mobian. He nods at them with gratitude, which (Y/n) does aswell.
"Snappie?" The (f/c) (animal) turns to Shadow. Before he could answer, a voice chimes.
"Snappie? Like snapshot?" Tails asks, tilting his head.
"Yeah!"
After some talking, with (Y/n) pushing Shadow to speak to the others. They gather around as (Y/n) raises her device into the air, taking a photo.

DING
Amy snatches her Snappie from her bedside table, unlocking it. She taps on (Y/n)'s contact, finding they had send a photo. It was them with four other mobians, her eyes widen when she notices a blue hedgehog.
"It's him!"

Part Of The Family || 'Sonic 3' Tickle Fic
Summary: Shadow is adapting to civilian life after decades of mistreatment and isolation. Luckily for him, his newfound family is there to show him the support and comfort he so desperately needs, albeit in rather unexpected ways.
Spoilers for ‘Sonic 3’ ahead, so read with caution!
Word Count: 3,591 words.
Things had been...weird, since the battle in space, to say the very least.
Immediately after the fight, Sonic and the others had made a beeline for the hospital, and had been relieved to find Tom awake and stable. Sure, he had some broken bones, but he was ALIVE! Maddie had practically had to pry the three off of him, happy tears pouring from their eyes as they babbled out joyful exclamations. Tom had only chuckled softly, letting out a small wince as a stab of pain shot through his ribcage.
Once they had calmed down, Sonic informed the others of what went down on the moon. His fight with Shadow, how the two had managed to find common ground, how they had banded together to save the planet. As he spoke, the blue hedgehog's smile noticeably dropped, and his tone went from excited to saddened as the realization dawned on him. Shadow wasn't with them; he had sacrificed himself for a planet that cared little for him.
At least, that's what they thought. About a month after they returned home, Ozzy had started barking madly at the attic, eyes fixated at the ceiling with ears pricked. Tom had insisted that a squirrel had probably gotten into the attic while looking for shelter, though Knuckles had been convinced that a ghost was responsible. In a way, he wasn't wrong. When they'd went to investigate, instead of finding a disgruntled forest critter, they had found Shadow, a bit worse for wear but very much alive.
The black hedgehog was a mess, covered in scratches and bruises, his fur dirty and disheveled. While he had clearly recovered some of the past month, he was far from fully healed. They'd all had questions, of course. How was he still alive? Where had he been for the past month or so? Why was he there now? How did he know where they LIVED?
In the end, the answers had been simple enough. Shadow was even stronger than they'd first thought and managed to survive the explosion, albeit just barely. After crash landing somewhere in London, he'd found a darkened corner of the city to rest and tend to his injuries (he'd rather die than seek out G.U.N for help, in his own words). However, over time it became clear that he needed somewhere safer to stay, and he didn't know where else to go. He hadn't even meant for them to know he was there; he had planned on hiding out in the attic, sneaking down for food every so often and leaving as soon as he was back on his feet.
As for how he knew where they lived; the internet. He may have been an "old man," as Sonic put it, but he wasn't stupid.
Well, if Shadow had thought they were just going to leave him in the dark, musty attic, he'd been sorely mistaken. Maddie had immediately ushered him downstairs, fussing over how thin he was, the dislocations he clearly needed reset, etc. Sonic and Tails had been right behind her, babbling away about all the 21st century things they wanted to introduce him to. Meanwhile, Knuckles and Tom had lingered behind, still wary of their unexpected arrival (understandably so; Shadow could hardly blame them).
The attention was a bit overwhelming, and Shadow didn't say much for the first few weeks of his stay. He would muster up a quiet thank you when Maddie showed him kindness, and had managed to corner Tom in order to give him an apology, but otherwise he stuck to himself. Attempts to rope him into races or movie nights ranged from entirely unsuccessful to Shadow participating with mild interest, but he was clearly still apprehensive about lowering his guard, even around those actively trying to help him. His new companions had shown him a shocking amount of patience, a courtesy the black hedgehog was grateful for. He should have known such a courtesy would only last so long, especially when Sonic was involved.
...
Shadow flinched at the sound of a loud crash from somewhere in the living room, eyes narrowed and ears pricked. He gripped the kitchen counter, sandwich forgotten as he turned towards the noise on high alert. A flash of blue whizzed past him, a pair of hands suddenly gripping his shoulders from behind. The only thing that kept him from activating his chaos energy immediately was the accompanying sound of Sonic's laughter, high-pitched and slightly panicked in tone. "Shahahadow, you've gotta help me! They've gone nuts!"
The black hedgehog opened his mouth, but before he could get a word out, Knuckles came barreling into the kitchen, Tails close behind him. The two were beaming from ear to ear, mischievous expressions plastered to their faces. Sonic let out a small yelp, giggles increasing and his grip on Shadow tightening as he hid behind him.
"What is going on?" Shadow questioned, tone tinged with mild annoyance. "Let go of me." He attempted to shrug Sonic off of him, with little success.
"They're trying to torture me, that's what! Keep them FAR away from me!" The blue hedgehog replied, pointing an accusatory finger at his pursuers.
Tails chuckled, rolling his eyes at the other's dramatics. "He's just trying to escape his tickle penalty for losing Go Fish." The fox explained. "Though I don't know why he's making such a fuss, he LOVES it when we tickle him.. I wouldn't be surprised if he lost on purpose."
Though Shadow couldn't see it, Sonic's cheeks immediately turned bright red. "Lies and slahahander!" His voice cracked slightly, a nervous titter escaping at the last word. "Besides, I didn't lose, they CHEATED! That exempts me from any penalties!"
"HE lies! Hand him over so we may punish him for his transgression!" Knuckles butted in, grinning deviously as he cracked his knuckles.
Shadow's eyes flicked between the three, eyebrows raised as he scoffed. "Tickling? Isn't that a bit childish?" He asked flatly. The word DID ignite something in him; distant memories of laughter and play wrestling with Maria. His stomach did a little flip as he pushed the memories down.
"Uh, yeah, and totally FUN!" Sonic replied, resting his chin on Shadow's shoulder. The other hedgehog quickly moved away, causing Sonic to stumble forward a couple of steps. Knuckles seized his opportunity, immediately lunging for his prey with a playful growl. Sonic squealed (in a totally not girlish manner, thank you), latching back onto Shadow and flinging the other in front of him like a shield.
In that moment, two things happened. The first? Knuckles' hands frantically grabbed for something to prevent his fall; that thing just so happened to be Shadow's sides. The second? Shadow GIGGLED.
Everyone froze, eyes wide with shock. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails' mouths hung open, their gazes fixed on Shadow, who stood as still as a statue, hands latched onto Knuckles' wrists. Slowly, a light pink tinge came to his cheeks, his left ear twitching as it dawned on him exactly what he'd just done.
Sonic was the first one to break the silence. "Woohohohoa, what was THAT?" The blue hedgehog crowed, positively beaming with amusement. "Don't tell me the big, bad ultimate lifeform is TICKLISH!" He sang.
Shadow shoved Knuckles' hands off of him, crossing his arms over his torso with a huff. "I'm not ticklish. He just caught me off guard, that's all. I was SURPRISED." The explanation was weak, and they all knew it.
"Funny, I've heard of people doing a lot of things when they're surprised, but never GIGGLING." Tails was barely holding back giggles of his own.
Sonic slung an arm over Shadow's shoulder, tugging him close before he had the chance to pull away again. "Come on, don't be embarrased! So you're a little ticklish? Literally EVERYONE in this room is! You should SEE Knuckles when I get him; the dude sounds like-"
Knuckles cleared his throat, eyes narrowing. "Watch your words, hedgehog, or need I remind you how sensitive your little tummy is?"
Shadow was at a loss for words. The sudden exposure of his own sensitivity, how casually the others were talking about theirs, it was all surprisingly flustering. He felt his muscles tensing under Sonic's touch, anticipating a tickle attack at any second, which the other seemed to have taken notice of. "Hey man, don't worry! If you don't like that sort of thing, we won't tickle you! Scout's honor!"
Tails nodded, offering Shadow a gentle smile. "Yeah, tickling's no fun if everyone isn't enjoying themselves. If you want your space, we'll respect that." Knuckles hummed in agreement.
"Though I will say, you'd really be missing out. I'm the best tickle monster in Green Hills!" Sonic bragged, grinning wolfishly as he wiggled a few fingers close to Shadow's neck. The other instinctively scrunched his shoulders, expression a mixture of uncertainty and embarrassment. What the hell was he supposed to say to all that? Of course he didn't want to be tickled...did he?
"Somehow I highly doubt that. By the way you were begging me to save you earlier, I'd be more willing to believe one of those two hold that title." The words had left Shadow's lips before he knew what he was doing, tinged with a dose of sass that DEFINATELY sounded like provocation. What was he doing? He needed to take it back, to get himself out of this situation before-
Sonic's eyes went wide, an amused laugh ripping from his throat. "Ohohooo, so that's how it is, huh? If you wanted me to wreck you that badly, you could have just asked! Well, maybe that little comment WAS your way of asking, but you know what I mean! Boys, grab him!"
Knuckles and Tails shared a look, nodding before lunging towards Shadow, tackling the hedgehog to the kitchen floor with a loud THUD. Shadow bit back a yelp, struggling as the three made quick work of pinning him down. He could use his chaos energy to teleport away, but he needed to concentrate to do that, and there was no way he could do that with a flood of giddy panic racing through him (at least, that's what he told himself).
"What are you doing? Get off of me!" Shadow growled, trying to sound stern, but his words had no effect on the grinning mammals looking down at him. Knuckles took hold of Shadow's wrists, tugging them above his head while Tails flopped across his legs.
"No can do, Gerard Way! You messed with the hedgehog, now you get the quills!" Sonic hovered his hands over his captive, fingers wiggling tauntingly as he hummed. "But where should I start? I don't know WHICH spot to pick! Knuckles, any suggestions?"
The red echidna smirked down at the squirming hedgehog. “The Lord of the Donuts said you have twenty-four ribs; let’s see if HE does to!”
“What a great idea!” Sonic poised his hands over Shadow’s outstretched ribs. “We DO look alike, so let’s see if the similarities extend to other areas, shall we?”
Shadow felt his breath hitch, crimson eyes locked onto the wiggling fingers above him. “Don’t you dare!” He hissed.
“Oh, I do more than dare, my friend! I DO!” Sonic didn’t wait another moment, hands lunging downwards. His fingers began to dance across Shadow’s ribs, almost like he was playing a piano, before starting to scratch between each one. “Let’s see here, one…two…three…”
Shadow bit down on his lower lip, shaking with barely contained snickers. He was a tough hedgehog, and could handle a lot, but his resistance to tickling was…lacking. It was hardly his fault; he hadn’t had the most affectionate upbringing, even with Maria around. Tickles were few and far between.
In other words, he was screwed.
“Aaaw, don’t hold it in, Shadow! Laughter is good for you!” Tails giggled from his perch on Shadow’s legs.
“Four…five…six…Shadow, hold still, man! You’re going to make me lose count, then I’ll have to start all over!” Sonic chided playfully, continuing his slow torment of Shadow’s ribcage.
“W-Wohohould you two just shut up?” Shadow forced out, cursing the small chuckle that managed to slip out.
“Um, RUDE! Knuckles, mind helping me teach this guy some manners?” Sonic shot the red echidna a devious grin, who returned it in kind.
“It would be my pleasure!” Knuckles moved Shadow’s wrists into one hand, leaving his other one free to join in the torment. Without a second of hesitation, it dove for one of Shadow’s armpits, digging into the exposed hollow as Sonic gently scribbled down to Shadow’s sides.
That did it. Shadow felt his torso jerk, a startled gasp tumbling out, followed immediately by a wave of breathy giggles. “N-Nohohohohooo, cut it ohohohohout!” He ordered, though the effect was ruined by the little grin now decorating his features.
“Aaaaw, there’s that cute wittle laugh! I knew you had it in you!” Sonic cheered, fingers scratching and dancing along the other hedgehog’s sides. “Isn’t he adorable, Tails?”
“Yeah, he IS pretty cute!” Tails replied, giving Shadow’s knees a few experimental squeezes, earning a soft snort and a fresh barrage of snickers.
Shadow felt his cheeks flush, his head shaking in denial. “I’m nohohohohohot cuhuhuhute! S-Stahahahahahap!” He snickered. He could feel his tail twitching beneath him, trying to wag while pressed against the floor; thank GOD he was lying on his back. Knuckles switched to his other armpit, making him jump as a startled “EHEHE” ripped out of him.
Knuckles barked out a laugh of his own. "Ha, he sounds like Tom when you get his ears!" The warrior drilled a thumb into Shadow's armpit ruthlessly, delighting in the way the hedgehog jolted as if electrocuted. "Coochie coochie cooooooo!" He sang.
"So Shadow, are you ready to admit I'm the best tickle monster around?" Sonic asked, smirking down at Shadow mischievously. "Or do we need to get a little meaner?"
"I'm nohohohohot admitting shit to yohohohohoooou!" Shadow retorted, trying (and failing) to muster up a half-hearted glare.
Sonic whistled, shaking his head in disapproval. "Such language! Looks like we'd better bring out the big guns, boys. Knuckles, Tails, get a good grip on him. Time to use the old Wachowski Special!" The two nodded in agreement, ceasing their own tickling to get firmer holds on Shadow's arms and legs.
Shadow panted, still squirming as he slowly recovered from the ticklish attacks. "Thehehehe what now?" He questioned, eyebrows raised, heart fluttering in his chest. Whatever the "Wachowski Special" was, he knew it wouldn't be good for him.
"Weeell, whenever someone else joins the family, Tom and Maddie have this little thing they like to do. Since they aren't here right now, I guess that means WE get to be the ones to officially welcome you into the family! Right, Sonic?" Tails explained.
"Right you are, little buddy!"
Shadow felt his stomach do a flip, his head swimming at the implications of the fox's statement. Welcome him to the family? They considered him family, after all that he had done? He didn't deserve-
Sonic cracked his knuckles, posing a clawed hand over Shadow's stomach. "Tickle claw time!" He sang, hand diving down and digging into the other hedgehog's outstretched abdomen. As if that wasn't bad enough, he started to VIBRATE his fingers into the sensitive muscle, cooing playful teases all the while. "Kitchie kitchie kitchie kitchie koooooo, tough guy! Come on, let's see how hard you can laugh, huh? Coooome on, you know you wanna!"
Poor Shadow didn't stand a chance. "S-SOHOHONIC, NEHEHEHEHOHOHOHOHO!" The black hedgehog busted into a fresh wave of laughter, shaking his head feverishly as his ears pressed back with embarrassment. His legs gave a little kick, trying to knock Tails off balance, and he tugged desperately to free his arms from Knuckles' grip. "NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHERE!"
Knuckles snorted with amusement. "His tummy is worse than YOURS!" He smirked, shooting Sonic a look.
The blue hedgehog blushed, glaring at Knuckles as his tickling picked up speed, sending Shadow into another bout of cackles. "We're focused on him right now, not me." He was borderline pouting, though a shy smile tugged at his lips.
The kitchen was filled with the sound of Shadow's frantic laughter, a noise that none of them, especially Sonic, would ever forget. For a moment, Sonic was too caught up in the joy of seeing his rival, his friend, so vulnerable to care about anything else. But then, as Shadow's laughter hit a crescendo, something inside Sonic made him pause. The teasing, the playful banter, it was all just...fun. Shadow, despite his stoic nature, was one of them now. And in that moment, Sonic realized just how much it meant to have him here.
But that didn’t stop him from continuing his ticklish onslaught.
"Not the tummy, huh? Guess we'll just have to see what else is good!" Sonic grinned, clearly enjoying the chaos of the moment, his fingers moving down to scribble just above Shadow's hips.
Shadow let out a breathy squeal (though he would never admit to making such a noise). "OHOHOHOHO, WOHOHOHULD YOU JUHUHUST SHUHUHUHUT UP?" He was beyond embarrassed from the playful teasing, and yet, he couldn't bring himself to mind it all that much. It brought back feelings he never thought he would feel again; feelings of acceptance, comfort, familial bonding. Feelings he hadn't thought about in decades, more or less experienced.
Tails giggled at the sight of the tough hedgehog writhing beneath their tickling. "He really is ticklish everywhere!" He exclaimed, the joy of discovery lighting up his voice.
Shadow's face was bright crimson now, his usual stern demeanor replaced with something almost childlike. His red eyes sparkled with tears of mirth, his grin nearly splitting his face in two. "S-STAHAHAHAP! I-I CAHAHAHAHAN'T...EHEHEHEHEHEHE!" He bucked his hips, trying to break free from the combined grip of Tails and Knuckles, but Sonic’s assault on his stomach and hips kept him pinned down in a state of helpless hilarity.
“You’re giving up already?” Sonic teased, leaning in close. “I thought you were the ultimate lifeform! You can take anything, right?”
But this was something Shadow couldn’t take. This was uncharted territory, more or less. And despite his pride, there was no denying that the combination of Sonic’s fingers and verbal teasing was breaking him down. His breath caught in between chuckles and gasps. “PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!"
Tails gave Sonic a nudge. "Looks like he's getting tired, might want to show some mercy before you break him." He chuckled.
"The fox is correct, his face is redder than my fur." Knuckles added in agreement.
Sonic gave Shadow a look, searching his features for a moment. Finally, as though some sort of unspoken signal had passed through them, Sonic slowed his tickling, his fingers still lingering lightly on Shadow's stomach. He watched as Shadow gasped for air, his body still twitching from the residual sensation. Sonic gave him a sly smirk. “You’re a tough nut to crack! Not everyone can hold out so well against ME!" He HAD to sneak in one more gloat, just for fun.
Shadow blinked up at him, trying to gather himself, his mind still hazy from the laughter. “You’re insufferable.” He managed to mutter, his voice hoarse, though the wobbly grin still plastered to his face ruined any attempts of sounding even vaguely serious.
Knuckles let out a hearty laugh, loosening his grip. "Don't worry, my friend. Sonic does this to everyone. You’re just the latest victim!"
"And definitely not the last!" Sonic snickered.
Tails slid off of Shadow’s legs, but not before giving his friend a quick pat on the knee. "We were just making sure you feel at home, Shadow. I hope you won't hold it against us."
Shadow let out a long breath and finally attempted to sit up, his cheeks still a shade of pink he rarely showed. He gave Sonic one last glare, though it was weaker than it should’ve been. “You’ve had your fun, but don’t think for a second that this changes anything.”
Sonic winked, his grin still wide. “Of course it doesn’t, Shadow! But I gotta say, you do laugh pretty cute.” The black hedgehog's blush deepened, and he looked away, muttering something inaudible under his breath. "I'm sorry, what was that?"
Shadow's gaze narrowed, his grin taking on a more devilish nature. "I said I'll give you three a ten second head start before I start dishing out my revenge." His voice came out in a low, shockingly playful growl. "One..."
Sonic, Knuckles and Tails' eyes all widened in shock, taken aback by Shadow's unexpected declaration. Sonic was the first to react, whizzing past his companions as a nervous laugh erupted from his throat. "Every hedgehog for himself!" His words snapped the other two out of their shock, and moments later, Tails and Knuckles were booking it after him.
"Sonic, wait for us!"
"It is hardly honorable to abandon one's comrades in battle!"
Shadow watched as his prey made their futile attempts at escape; best to give them a small taste of hope. he couldn't help but chuckle, the sound holding a surprising hint of affection as he got to his feet. His lungs still ached, unused to so much exertion, but he couldn't say the feeling was all bad. He was part of a...family. These people, whom he once viewed with such contempt, had accepted him with open arms, even after all that had happened. Something warm welled inside of Shadow as he felt his chaos energy activating, ready to aid in his pursuit.
"Ten; here I come."

A Monster?
A Weapon?
The Reason to blame?
A alien freak?
No.. he is Shadow… Marias little brother. Her best friend and a kid. A person who loved so deeply, who didn’t want to be a monster or a weapon. But he did become the weapon GUN wanted, because the one person who loved him killed by actually monsters. The sister who showed him that he was worthy of love… was taken from him. The sister who was the only light in his life… his only home…. Died trying to get him to safety 50 years ago and he was blamed for her death. Shadow the only person to truly know and cherish the unconditional love Maria gave him. Maria Robotnik, the brightest star, that was abruptly snuffed out. And shadow being the only one to carry out her legacy.

Forget Our Struggles and Have A Good Time [SFW Tickle Fic]
Fandom: Poppy Playtime (Chapter 4)
Characters: Player (Switch), Doey the Doughman (Switch)
Words: 6200 words
Summary: Taking a break from fixing the generator, you and Doey have a playful moment, yearning to go back to simpler times...
A/N: we interrupt our cookie run hyperfixation to bring you the play-doh man, and the first tkl fic on this blog...in a long while- I wanted to write something short (yeah…short…), sweet, and simple to get back into posting, and despite my brain being hyper-focused on cookie run, it settled with poppy playtime, so...here we go! enjoy my horrid writing! (it’s really bad)
Plip. Plop. Plip. Plop.
A sound like that was to be expected in a large sewage tunnel, dirty and decrepit, though where the liquid dripping from the ceiling was coming from — or even what the liquid itself was — confused the employee momentarily every time they went back and forth from No Man’s Land to Safe Haven, but would quickly leave their mind once they remembered their current objective. All objectives and tasks given to them were for the sole purpose of one final challenge: defeating the Prototype and freeing the poor children trapped within, toy or not. At least that’s what the employee wanted to believe — it was comforting to imagine that everything you did would eventually lead to the end; freedom and peace, if you will — and it was that almost-naive belief that kept the only-animated human going in this horrid factory.
The employee themself wasn’t anyone particularly special: they sported a rather androgynous appearance, their hair short, yet in a ponytail, with only a few locks of hair perched on the sides of their face. Their eyes were hardly shown, almost seemingly and comically blocked with a dark shadow that no light could get rid of, and their clothes were simple — a zip-up yellow turtleneck sweater, brown pants, fingerless black gloves, and a comically voluminous yellow hat with the Playtime Co. logo on it — They dubbed themselves “Player”, though that was obviously not their true name; but in a strange way, it fit them.
Maybe it was because of the way they agreed so easily with others’ demands, like a puppet controlled by its master. Maybe it was their lack of visible emotion most times, especially when dealing with pain. They could take incredible amounts of damage and not flinch in the slightest, even when facing head injuries galore or deep cuts all over their skin. Or maybe…it was because they secretly felt like a pawn in a greater game, like they were the last chess piece on the losing side, and they were so close to getting a checkmate…Whatever the reason, it wasn’t like anybody used Player’s preferred title much anyhow. Everyone tended to give them their own nicknames for the employee, almost all much nicer than “Player”.
But the employee’s name or purpose didn’t matter much now. Currently, Player was walking back to Safe Haven through the sewage tunnel. It was a small detour from their mission to get the Omni-Hand from the generator, and they had none other than Doey to thank for the intrusion. On their way to finding the Doctor, Player met up with Doey once more, who was gathering parts for the generator. Of course, being in enemy territory, it wasn’t unlikely that there would be traps all around the grounds, and one trap, specifically made for Doey it seems, was a gust of liquid nitrogen — at least that’s what Player assumed it was — that caused their doughy companion to freeze. Hastily, Player had closed the valve, so no more cold air was keeping Doey contained, but…
“Hurts, hurts, hurts, hurts, hurts-!”
Doey had shifted uncomfortably to the other side of the room, away from the pipe that had blown the nitrogen to him. He was breathing deeply, seemingly in a world of pain. The employee immediately rushed over to him, even pelting fireballs from the Orange Hand near the toy’s figure to try and warm him up faster. It seemed comforting for a moment, but Doey immediately seemed to lose face after that… “He's made it impossible for me to get around here. Traps like this are everywhere! It's the cold that hurts...The big mean doctor knows that..”, he had said, reminding the Player of a hurt and scared child. They decided now to make a fuss about Doey’s language, and insisted that he go back to Safe Haven to get some rest. He seemed ready to protest, arguing that he had to get more generator parts. Player frowned before simply saying that they’ll get the leftover generator parts, then come back to Safe Haven to deliver them. Doey was about to protest again, but Player was very firm about it.
To be honest, it was the first time they ever demanded something from anyone since they arrived in this factory, and seeing that to be the case, Doey decided not to argue any further, reluctantly revealing the parts needed and to come back to Safe Haven immediately once they’ve gathered all of them. And Player did just that. It was bit tough, considering the seemingly endless number of mini-toys and Yarnaby roaming around, but, with only a few scratches and bruises, Player managed to collect all the parts needed and began to head back to Safe Haven through the sewage tunnel; a rather disgusting area that they soon grew used to. The employee couldn’t really complain though: they were deep underground after all.
Player crawled through the remaining tunnel systems before finally making it back to the Infirmary of Safe Haven. All the Smiling Critter toys glanced up at the employee’s arrival before immediately turning away once they were caught looking at the human. They seemed to have gotten a bit used to Player’s presence, but not enough to fully trust them, which they supposed was fair. Player tried not to look in any of their directions, simply trying to see if they could find Doey anywhere. They glanced into the main area, glancing around back and forth before seeing the generator room door open. They peeked inside to find their 8-foot tall, multi-colored friend eyeing the buttons on the top of the generator. He looked confused, and maybe a little frustrated at the words they were reading…and also very focused. Player hummed before lightly knocking against the metal walls of the generator room, catching Doey’s attention.
He smiled, holding onto the roof of the generator with one hand and using the other to wave at the employee ever so slightly. “Hiya pal!”, he said before he noticed the machine parts in Player’s arms and beaming even wider, “The parts! You really found them all?! Oh thank you! This was really a big help!” Player smiled a bit before walking over and gently placing the parts on a side table across from the generator. Doey seemed to sigh in relief before turning back to look at the employee. “You should…probably go back to No Man’s Land and defeat the Doctor now…”, Doey said in an almost low tone. He seemed to be thinking about something, but the employee didn’t want to pry by asking. They simply nodded, clutching the handles of the Grabpack before beginning to walk out.
Come on, just ask them for help!
No! No, we got this! We can figure this out! We don’t need some lousy adult staying in Safe Haven for too long!
I don’t get what any of these parts do…
They seem nice. I’m sure they’ll know what to do!
But…I still don’t trust them fully. I don’t want to be in a room alone with them for long. I’d rather they just go get the Omni-Hand…
But if we don’t get the generator working…And besides, they helped us! They were there for us when we got frozen! I think we can trust them…
Yeah! We’re super strong anyway! They can’t hurt us!
…You’re right. But I still don’t like it.
“A-Actually!”, Doey suddenly cried out, causing Player to turn around in surprise. The toy began to fiddle with his fingers, averting his hollow eyes as he spoke. “Before you go…I was wondering…If you could help me fix the generator? Get it up and running? I…don’t know entirely how to repair it…”, he said sheepishly. Player blinked behind the shadow over their eyes before smiling and nodding quietly. Doey seemed a bit surprised that they agreed so quickly, but quickly masked it with a smile. “Thanks pal…We really appreciate that”, he said, watching the Player set their Grabpack down on the ground and walk over to his side…
The work took hours of time.
All that time was spent trying to unscrew panels and look into which parts of the generator needed fixing. The employee managed to find a manual for the generator, but both entities had a rough time even understanding what everything was…especially because there were very few pictures in the book — the scientists in this place were sadists not to have manual books with diagrams — Every piece seemed complicated, but Doey was thankful that Player seemed to have a bit of an understanding for the machine, albeit mediocre. A few minutes passed, the two of them opening a panel with an electrical symbol on it. They found it to have what looked to be a hollowed-out cylinder able to spin around, the sides of it sectioned into rectangular pieces with something inside it. “Do you know what this is, buddy?”, Doey asked. Player hummed in thought, using their finger to lightly push against the cylinder’s sides and make it spin. They suddenly felt a zap and recoiled their hand back from shock. “I don’t know what it’s called, but this is how a generator makes electricity…There’s a coil of copper in this cylinder. When it spins, it sparks and makes energy…”
“Well, it certainly hasn’t been making enough of it! We can barely keep it on long!”, Doey said, a little frustrated. Player hummed before opening another panel to reveal a set of gears. They looked rusted. “Maybe that’s why..! These gears are so rusty…They probably can’t spin all too well. Let’s try replacing them”, the employee said before carefully beginning to remove the gears. They placed the rusted ones aside as Doey began to hand Player new gears that they had collected earlier. They placed the gears inside the panel, making sure they all connected to the coil of wire. “Alright…I think that should work…Hopefully”, Player said with a small yawn. “It better…”, Doey added, almost as if he were threatening the generator itself. Player couldn’t blame him: they had been stuck in this room for a while now.
Player closed the panels, Doey stomping over to the switch to turn on the generator — they needed the Omni-Hand to help restore the generator to full power, but there was no harm in testing it out — Player walked over to Doey’s side, and the toy took a deep breath before flipping the switch. Both of them could hear the gears turning and sparks being made…maybe too many sparks..?! “What’s happening..?!”, Doey exclaimed, noticing the electric panel making strange noises. “I-I don’t know! Take cover!”, Player exclaimed before grabbing Doey’s arm and bolting to the other side of the room. They could hear the gears whirring faster and faster…Smoke began to fizz out of the panel doors before..!
Everything shut down. A tiny bit of smoke lingered in the air, but Player went over to the panel regardless. They opened it up, more smoke escaping its confines, before looking at the cylinder. The copper coil inside seemed fried… “Dammit…What was that surge for? It completely overheated the copper…It’s unusable now…”, Player mumbled to themselves. “WHAT?!”, Doey exclaimed, his loud holler catching the employee by surprise. “You broke it! Now it’s even worse than before! You were of no help! You…YOU..!”, Doey started to exclaim, clenching his fists up before…he suddenly just slumped down on the floor. His neck extended loosely, making his head hit the ground with a splat. His arms began even more ‘jelly’ than they already were, dangling from his torso and hitting the ground with a similar thud. It almost looked like his whole body was starting to melt from exhaustion.
The employee blinked before approaching Doey and kneeling down to his head. “You alright, buddy?”, they asked calmly before hearing a groan after a few seconds of silence. “No…”, Doey mumbled, raising his head up a little so that his eyes were visible. Player patted his head with a small smile. “Come on. Let’s take a break…You’re practically melting”, they said, attempting to help Doey sit up — he was incredibly heavy though, so their efforts were pretty much in vain until the toy got up himself — The two slumped down near a wall, their backs to it. Doey still looked upset for a few minutes, but his face seemed to relax a little after that…and maybe harbored a bit of guilt? “Hey…I’m…sorry…I said you were of no help. I was just…”
“Frustrated?”
“Yeah…”
“I get it. None of this stuff is particularly easy. I…never fixed generators when I worked here…”, Player said with a slight chuckle. “We…never fixed generators before either…”, Doey mumbled in response. The employee blinked and looked at the 8 ft. toy guiltily. They had seen the tapes. They knew Doey was three children fused together — how twisted… — It made more sense why Doey sometimes, albeit rarely, used plural pronouns. And it only made it even more sad… “You alright..?”, they asked. Doey looked down at his hands and sighed. “We…I…never thought I’d be doing any of this. Never did I think I would be the protector of dozens of hurt and scared toys, or working with other toys to defeat some weird…metal spider thing..! I just…want to be good. I want to be better…but I’m so tired. We just wish we could be…”, Doey looked at the employee before his expression softened in pain before looking away once more, “…kids again…”
A moment of silence drew on between the two, but soon, and without much warning, Player suddenly threw their arms around Doey — as much as they could anyways — who seemed surprised at the action. “Doey…All of you..! I’m sorry…I’m sorry you three were…”, the words got lost in their voice, “You deserve to feel happy again, Doey…” The toy in question smiled softly before sighing. “Thank you…It’s a shame we can’t go back to the good old days…”, he muttered, his head slumping back down, so it rested on Player’s head. The employee blinked before humming in thought. Seeing Doey like this pained their heart. They tried to think of a way to make Doey feel better.
When Player was deep in thought, they had a subconscious habit of fidgeting and messing around. Whether it be playing with whatever object was in reach or twirling their hair or-! Suddenly, they felt Doey flinch. His shoulders had jumped ever so slightly and his stubby legs had gotten closer to his body. Player could feel Doey’s face sink into their hat, as if trying to hide it for some reason. “Are you okay?”, they asked, feeling Doey shift a little. “Mhm-! I’m fihine..!”, he said with a slight giggle. Player hummed again before glancing around in slight confusion, their eyes soon wandering to their hand resting on Doey’s stomach. Their index finger was curled, their nail in an almost scratching position. Right…One of their habits when thinking was scratching. Originally, they would scratch themselves, but tried to break that habit by instead scratching surfaces around them. “O-Oh! Did I scratch you..?!”, they asked guiltily before rubbing the area where they presumed they had scratched Doey.
They felt Doey sink his face a little more into their hat, now thoroughly confused. “Doey? Did I hurt you..?”, they muttered before the toy spoke again. “S-Sorry! I-It didn’t hurt! It just…Nevermind”, he mumbled with a slight huff. Player blinked before looking at their hand once more. They were sure Doey was very much capable of getting hurt, but with his entire body made out of thick, yet sludgy, clay, a scratch shouldn’t hurt that much. Maybe it just caught him off-guard…or maybe..! Doey was a pretty giggly guy, but to giggle after they scratched him…Player hummed before they stared off into space, pretending to be deep thought again, before they began to lightly scratch against Doey’s belly once more.
It was just as they thought. The toy immediately began to squirm ever-so-slightly, shy giggles pouring out of his mouth. One of his hands was resting on the floor, and Player could hear it thumping and patting against the ground. “P-PahaAHAL-!”, he cried weakly, cuing Player to pause their little experiment. How…interesting…and adorable! “Huh? Did I scratch you again?”, they said all too innocently, which he seemed to fall for…somewhat. “Y-Yeheah…Why are yohou doing that..?”, Doey asked, a few stray giggles still wandering out. “I tend to do that when I’m thinking, that’s all…It doesn’t hurt you, right?”, Player said, trying to hide their smirk.
“N-No…J-Just feels weird is all-!”
“Weird…how?”
“Umm..!”
“Like…if I were to do this…”, Player started before beginning to scratch against Doey’s belly once more, making him quickly squeak in surprise, “What would it feel like..~?” The toy’s hand patted against the ground again, his legs sliding across the floor as best they could. His belly jiggled with each little laugh that came out of him and every movement the Player did with their nimble fingers. “W-WAHAIT-! — squeak! — Yohohou knehehew whahat yOHOU WEHERE dohohoing!”, Doey covered his mouth with one hand, turning his head away from Player, who wore the smuggest expression on their face. “Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. Regardless, I fail to see how this is a bad thing, and I’m really liking this fun little discovery I made~”, the employee chuckled at their own little tease before they decided to include their other hand in the mix. Both hands quickly began to scribble against the doughy tummy, Player very much enjoying the laughter that came with it.
“EHEHEHE! PleheheAHAHASE-!”, Doey protested, his legs beginning to kick rather than slide about, “IHIHIT TIHIHICKLES!” Player let out a dramatic little gasp in mock surprise. “Really?! This tickles~?!”, they reply before their light scribbles suddenly turn into swift skitters that made the toy shriek ever-so-slightly, “What about this? Does this tickle too~?” Doey let out another shrill squeal, his hands now off his face and instead flapping up and down in pure glee. “YEHEHES! — squeak! — EHEHEHAHAHA! IHIHIT REHEHEAHALLY TIHIHICKLES! — squeak! — PAHAHAL-!” Player snickered, leaning closer to Doey’s torso and rapidly squeezing the dough doll’s sides. The toy shimmied around as much as he could, though he tried not to squirm too much as to not throw the employee off. “EHEHEHAHA! — snort! — NOHOHOT THAHAHAT! NOHO SQUEHEHEEZING!”
“Awwww, but you’re just so squishy and pudgy! How could I not squeeze you like this~?!”, Player teased, making their point known by squeezing Doey’s sides a few more times. “EHEHEEK! IHIHI CAHAHAN’T-!”, the poor toy’s face was flushed from embarrassment, much to the employee’s delight. Now that they thought about it… “You can’t? I think you can…considering you haven’t told me to stop yet~!”, Player said with a cheeky little grin. Flustered gibberish spewed out of Doey’s mouth before his hand went right back to his face. The comment seemed to have caught him off guard because he leaned over and fell down on his side with a loud thud. But that wouldn’t stop Player: they simply scooted closer to his figure and began to squeeze and prod his exposed side, occasionally slipping their fingers higher up where Doey’s ribs would be if he had any. Either way, the spot was sensitive enough that lovely peals of laughter rang every time it was tickled.
“PLAHAHAYER!”
“Kitchy kitchy koo~! Kitchy kitchy koo~! You’re such an adorable little thing~!”, Player teased. Doey’s foot quickly began to stomp against the ground, one arm covering his face as the other tried to gently push the employee off. He flipped himself on his back, the Player quickly following suit, so that they were on top of Doey now. “EHEHAHAHA! Q-QUHUHUIET! — squeak! — IHIHIHI’M NOHOHOHOT AHAHA-! — snort! — CHIHILD-!”, Doey protested — the employee was not about to be a smartass and correct that Doey was not only a child, but three. The irony in that statement was almost funny though, if not for the unfortunate circumstances — “You’re right…You’re more like a little mouse~! Look at all this squeaking you’re doing! But you’ve been snorting too…Maybe you’re more pig-like! Hmmm…”, Player hummed before smirking and shooting his hands underneath his arms and scribbling around there, “Let’s see if you snort or squeak more~!”
Doey shrieked and jumped a little, trying his hardest not to shake Player off as he slammed his arms down, “P-PAHAHAL! — squeak! — N-NOHOHOT-! — snort! — NOT THERE! NAHAHAT THEHERE! — snort! — THIHIHIS IHIHIS MEHEHEAHAHAN!” Doey hugged himself, hoping that curling into a ball would protect him from the electrifying sensations. To no avail, unfortunately. Player chuckled at the attempt though. “Hmmm…You’ve been snorting an awful lot…Maybe you are a little piggy then! Or maybe your underarms are just that ticklish~? Well, that’s too bad for you because you’ve trapped my hands in there real good~!”, the employee grinned as they continued to skitter their fingers as best they could under the weight of Doey’s arms. The dough doll was finding it harder and harder not to squirm — he didn’t want to fling the human off — so a new plan was decided.
Doey’s hands suddenly went to his mouth, trying his hardest to prevent any more laughter from pouring out; something Player took notice of. “Oh? What’s this? Trying not to laugh, are we~?”, Player cooed, digging their fingers into Doey’s armpits. A muffled squeal escaped the toy before he seemed to bite down to prevent any more laughter from coming out. Player chuckled. “Fine…If that’s how you want to play!”, they said simply, their fingers now crawling down from Doey’s underarms back to his sides. A few muffled squeaks and squeals continued to break free as the employee squished and squeezed and tickled Doey’s sides; but nevertheless, he continued to stay firm, hoping (not really) that Player would get bored. Unfortunately for him, the employee was persistent, and the longer that they went on without hearing any laughter, the more determined they were to get it out of him.
It only took a few more unsuccessful attempts before the Player smirked, an idea forming in their mind. “Wow! You’re really good at this game!”, they said, chuckled as Doey flushed slightly by the idea of calling this a game, “But you should know by now that I’m not the type to give up so easily! Especially when I have a method that’s guaranteed to reduce you to giggles~!” Doey’s eyes widened, almost eagerly waiting in anticipation despite his hands pressing firmer into his mouth to ready himself. His dough began to shiver as Player’s fingers tapped along his belly before he saw them take a deep breath. Only one of the children realized what was about to happen, and before he could excitedly tell the other two just how tickly this was going to be, the employee blew a big raspberry onto Doey’s tummy.
Nothing could prepare Doey for that devastating attack: the raspberry felt like ripples of electricity surging through every part of his body and, as expected, loud cackles and shrieks burst out of the dough doll. He seemed undecided on what to do with his hands, not knowing whether to cover his face or flap them gleefully, until he eventually settled on hugging himself. His legs rapidly kicked — he was grateful that the employee was nowhere near his stubby legs; otherwise he definitely would have kicked them hard — and his face exploded with a vibrant multi-colored hue. “P-PAHAHAHA-! WAHAHAIT! WEHEHE-! OHOHOH GOHOHOHOSH!”, Doey cackled, most of his words getting lost in his laughter. Player grinned, squishing his sides quickly. “Heheh…Knew you’d break with that~!”, they exclaimed triumphantly, chuckling as the effects of the raspberry still seemed to linger within Doey.
Any and all thoughts were replaced simply with just how much all of this tickled…and how happy Doey was. He had never felt this much joy in a long time…Anything that stressed any of the three souls out was no longer important: all that mattered now was laughing their worries away. It was almost blissful and peaceful in its own sense, despite how much the toy was cackling and squealing with each tickly touch. As much as Doey would’ve loved to continue laughing forever, everyone had their limits, so, knowing they couldn’t form any sort of sentence or plea, tapped Player on their shoulder. The employee immediately understood and stopped, a bit worried that they had gone too far.
Player soon smiled fondly though once they saw just how smiley and soft Doey looked. He was still a bit of a giggly mess for a good while, hugging himself tightly and trying to sneakily rub the evil sensations away. “Heh…You okay?”, Player asked, feeling relieved when Doey nodded in response. “Yeah..! Yeah…I…That was cruel…”, Doey replied, glaring at the employee before a goofy smile overcame him, “But…I think we needed that. Thank you…” Player smiled, happy that Doey was better and proud of their victory. Then they heard Doey giggle a bit…It was a sort of evil giggle. Maybe mischievous was a better word; either way, a pit of nervousness rested in the human’s stomach upon hearing it. “Hehehe…Oh, but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook…”, Doey cooed before he stood up, practically towering over the Player with his 2 ft. height difference.
“D-Doey..?”
“Don’t you know that I’m practically the tickle monster around here~?”
Oh boy. Now it was the human’s turn to get flustered. They squeaked a little in anticipation as Doey wiggled his fingers at them, slowly approaching closer and closer every time they took a few steps back. “W-W-Wahait-!”, Player said, giggles beginning to sprout, “T-There’s noho need for this..! I was just trying to cheer you up..!” Doey grinned evilly. “And you did a wonderful job! But I think you deserve a nice, long laugh too, friend…~”, he teased as he wiggled his fingers a bit faster, pleased to hear Player squeal again.
The generator room was small: Player knew that there was no way out of this, especially with Doey practically blocking the door to leave. Their only options were to either unsuccessfully negotiate with the giant dough blob or accept their fate, and no way were they going to actively let themselves get tickled to bits. “D-Doey! Pal! Buddy! I-I mean it! There’s no benefit to tickling me! I-I don’t even speak that loud, let alone laugh loudly..!”, the employee exclaimed with another squeak, feeling their back get pressed against the wall. Uh oh. “Y-You wouldn’t have any fun t-tickling me..!”, they tried to convince the toy. Doey tilted his head innocently before grinning smugly.
“I’ll be the judge of that, pal~”
Player barely had any time to think of what to do next before Doey practically bear-hugged the human and let the two of them fall backwards onto the floor. With the employee now in his arms, he wasted no time tapping his fingers against both of their sides at once. He immediately began grinning as Player giggled quietly at the light tickles. “Ehehehahaha! D-Dohohoey! Dohon’t!”, they squeaked, giggling mindlessly before feeling one set of Doey’s hands wander to their back, “H-HeheHEHEY-!” Doey gasped a little, getting giddy at the new spot. “Pal, your back is ticklish?! That’s adorable~! Tickle tickle tickle~!”, he cooed, his other hand joining in on tickling their back.
Player squeaked and kicked their legs as best they could, squirming practically being impossible with them still trapped in a hug. “NOHOHOT THEHERE! — squeak! — Lehehehet gohohohoho!”, they quietly giggled out, their face turning a little darker from blush as they fell into light hysteria. “Let go? But buddy! You’re clearly enjoying this~! Just look at that happy little face of yours~!”, Doey teased, taking a moment to poke Player’s cheek before continuing to skitter and gently tickle their back. As cute as their laugh was, he soon got bored with the giggle spot and used one of his hands to pinch at the employee’s hip, just to see their reaction. He was pleased to hear them let out a little shriek. “
“DOHOEY-!!”
“Hehe! Whaaaat~? I didn’t even do anything~!”; Doey cooed, one arm over the employee’s back and their hand gently scritching against their side, while the other continued to pinch and drill its fingers against their hip. Player let out a snort, their laughter going up an octave — though, it was still a little on the quieter side — Their hands were basically stuck in the position they were in from the hug, so they opted to lightly bury their face into Doey’s body in an attempt to cover it up. “Awwwwww! You embarrassed, bud~?”, he smirked as he continued his tickly attack, the fingers tickling their hip occasionally poking around their legs as well. “EHEHEEK! — snort! — SHUHUHUSH! IHIHI-! — snort! — EHEHAHAHA!”
“Now, look who’s snorting like a little pig…Hehehe! Cute, cute, cute!”
Player’s face flushed a little from embarrassment, squeezing their eyes shut as they snickered and snorted. They couldn’t see it, but for a little bit, Doey’s face practically melted into one of softness, just pleased to see their friend — yes, friend — smiling and happy. They really did look more relaxed…even if this was for the purpose of revenge by one of the souls. “It’s true, you know. I’m glad you’re enjoying this. You’ve done so much for us…You deserve to laugh a little!”, Doey grinned before snickering, “Besides! If you can't take what you dish out, maybe this’ll teach you not to mess with me~!”
Somehow, their ticklishness seemed to increase with those words, laughter now more easily flowing out of them. It was nice…but their stubbornness exceeded their ability to admit that. “IHIHI CAHAN TAHAKE IHIHIT-!”, the employee exclaimed proudly…then they felt Doey stop. “Uh oh…”, Doey said, matching exactly what the player was thinking, before an evil grin washed on his face. Suddenly, Player was lifted as Doey sat up. His hands suddenly held up their own, and the employee saw Doey’s body begin to morph. Doey suddenly had multiple hands — about ten, including the ones holding their arms up — and each free one suddenly wiggled their fingers towards the Player’s body. They squealed in fear, which made Doey chuckle darkly.
“Well pal…can you handle this~?”
“W-Wahait-!”
But it was too late. In the blink of an eye, the hands shot towards the employee and immediately began their rampage. One set tickled their underarms and ribs, rapidly switching between the two spots, one hand was squeezing and tickling Player’s side and belly, while another was squeezing at their hips. A set of hands was holding the employee’s legs by their knees, gently rubbing and skittering at the skin behind them as much as they could, the final pair of hands removing their shoes and skittering against their socked feet. Needless to say, the human exploded with laughter. With their hands held up and them practically dangling in the air, there was no hiding their red face. All of the tickles were not necessarily rough with so many spots being targeted, but it still felt just as overwhelmingly ticklish, and the employee could feel their worries (and brain) turn into giggly mush by the minute.
“D-D-DOHOHOHOEY-! — snort! — YOHOHOHOU-! — squeak! — NAHAHAHAO-!”, Player protested, trying to kick their legs to hopefully deter the hands tickling them, but they seemed to follow their movements rather quickly. The dough doll simply giggled at their squirming. “Oh? Is this too much for you? But I thought you said you could handle it~!”, he grinned, listening to your laugh with such joy and mischief. Player shook their head, unable to get coherent words out, and simply continued to try and squirm around in the hopes of getting rid of a few of the tickly sensations. “Hey! Let’s play a game~!”, Doey suddenly exclaimed, all of the hands stopping their tickle attacks — they would still at times wiggle their fingers, scratching the air near Player’s spots, just to keep them squeaking and giggling — Butterflies appeared and fluttered about in the human’s stomach.
“G-GaHAHAME-?!”, Player asked, their voice raising into a loud giggle upon noticing a sneaky hand scratch dangerously close to their belly. “Yeah! A fun game! We just need to choose what spot to tickle~!”, Doey said playfully, all of the hands wiggling their fingers very close to Player’s spots now. Immediately, they let out a shrill shriek, squirming instinctively, but trying their hardest not to accidentally weasel their body too close to the tickling fingers. Doey giggled evilly. “Pal, I’m not doing anything this time either! Are you really just that sensitive~?”, he teased before a goofy smile plastered on his face, “But I’ll do something now! How about…your ribs?!” Two hands quickly traveled to Player’s ribs, pressing firmly against the bone and making the poor human squeal.
“DOHOHOEY-!”
“Oh yes, this’ll be a real rib-tickler!”, he joked, the other hands — besides two holding the employee’s hands and the two about to cause the most devastating tickle attack ever — retracting back to his body, “I’m gonna count your ribs! Don’t let me lose count though~!”, Doey teased with a wink before one hand began to lightly scribble against each individual rib on one side, the other gently gliding up and down the other set of ribs. “WHAHA-?! WAHAIT, HOHOHOLD OHOHON-!”, the employee exclaimed, their torso jittering a little at each little touch. “1…2…3…4…5~”, he started, skittering against the fifth rib a little more than the others. Immediately, Player burst out in laughter, kicking and arching their back to try and escape the slightly evil sensation. “THAHAHAT’S CHEHEHAHAHATING-!”, they pleaded, though it fell on deaf ears. “Oh my! Look at how much you’re squirming! How cute~! But what number was I on again..? Hmmm…guess I’ll have to start all over again~!”, he grinned before he began to count again, “1…2…3-! Ah, ah, ah! No squirming! Or I’m gonna forget again~! Now where was I..? Oh yes~! 4…5…~!”
Doey continued to count the human’s ribs, the combination of the tickle game, and the other hand lingering about your other ribs, reducing you to frantic laughter. You try to keep still, not wanting to be stuck on your ribs for long, but it was getting harder and harder as the toy made the tickling worse and worse the closer he got to the end. “…15…16…17~! Awww, come on bud! We’re almost done! Don’t mess it up now~!”, Doey grinned, seeing the shivering human who seemed so close to breaking their resolve, “18…19..20…~”
“EHEHEHAHAHAHAHA-! — snort! — D-DAHAHAHA-! DOEY! — squeal! — IHIHIHI CAHAHAHAN’T-!”
“Oh nooooo! You squirmed around so much on 20! We were sooooo close too~!”, he teased, acting as if he didn’t explicitly tickle that rib much more to break the poor employee, “Guess we’ll have to do it aaaaall again~” Player squealed at that and quickly shook their head. “NAHAHAO! P-PLEHEHEAHAHASE-!”, they pleaded, their body somewhat going limp. The dough doll noticed that and hummed in mock thought before the extra pair of hands retracted back to his body. “Well…ok! Since I’m a nice tickle monster, I’ll stop…But I still want compensation for not finishing the game~!”, he said before repositioning the human, so that they were basically being cradled like a baby. They giggled absentmindedly, practically drunk off of tickles before they felt something pulling up their shirt.
“EEK-! D-Dohohon’t-!”
“Awwww, come on! Just one little raspberry~? We promise to be nice! Pleeeeeeaaaaase?”
He seemed to be genuinely asking. THEY seemed to be genuinely asking. That alone kind of flustered the employee, but they thought about it for a brief moment…before nodding sheepishly. Player would be fine with a raspberry to end things off…Doey immediately got excited, practically hopping with joy. “Yay!”, he exclaimed before he took a comically loud and large breathe before suddenly unleashing a raspberry on Player’s tummy. They immediately shrieked, snorting and squealing as they felt the electrifying sensations attack every nerve on their belly. They were too limp to move at the moment, but they knew they would be squirming and kicking if this had been done earlier.
After that, Doey kept his word. He stopped the tickles, though still held on to Player like they were a precious little baby. The dough doll then sat back down and placed the human beside them, allowing them peace as their giggles eventually died down. “I…Eheheh…You weren’t joking when you called yourself a tickle monster…”, the employee mumbled in slight embarrassment. Doey laughed triumphantly before sighing in contentment. He looked at Player softly, tilting his head. “Did you have fun?”, they asked as if it were not at all a flustering question. Player blinked and blushed a little before nodding. “Yeah…It was fun! It’s nice to laugh after everything that’s happened…”
“I couldn’t agree more…”
The two fell into comfortable silence, the two taking their time to relax after their little tickle fight…Doey closed his eyes as he took in the peace and quiet…
Hehe! That was fun!
Yes! Nice to put that employee in their place!
Haha…Don’t you think you went a little overboard?
Nah, they could handle it! Besides…I wasn’t gonna kill them. We still need them after all…
Awwww, that means he likes them!
N-No, I don’t-!
C’mon…You were totally having a blast. Admit it: you like them.
…Maybe a little bit.
“…Hey pal?”
“Hm?”
“Let’s do that again sometime. P…Please?”
“Ha. Looking forward to it, pal.”
