Miniature Showcase - Angelus
This mini for for my skulls and shackles game.  I restarted the game with only three of our inital players, so I had a friend from the former game to join in.  For better or worse, it was my old buddy draspher............he’s an interesting guy to play with.  He’s playing an synthersist summoner, a nutcase who insists on being the most freakish looking thing imaginable, being a devil lookalike tiefling who spends all his time fused with an Eidolon modeled after Palkia from Pokemon.  His sole contributions consist of being a meatshield, getting himself into trouble and providing bad solutions to problems.
Painting wise I had to combine both his Tiefling nature (draspher insisted on the red skintone) while visulally linking it to Palkia.  So I stuck with a purple colour scheme, and using pure skull white (no shading) for detailing.  I really like how I was able to use white for his horns, shirt and cloathing but by using different shadings to make them apear different.

Miniature Showcase - Sea Priest
this mini took me forever to finish.  I first bought this one when I first started my skulls and shackles game all that time ago.  I kept putting it off as it was complicated and I had other things come up.  In the end I recently decided to just do it, and I’m surprised how well it came out in the end.
Painting wise I went for a gray basecoat to match official artwork.  This ended up causing problems, as a spray painted colour is slightly different from its painted colour.  This made it difficult to fix mispainted parts.  I used mostly different shades of blue for the main robe, with dark purple for other parts.  The gold I kept bright to contrast the rest of his armour

Miniature Showcase - Dark elf Hornblower
The second Mini of three Mini’s I bought with dragon scales, this time I wanted to try green shading.  This mini is dedicated to one of my martial arts instructors.  He did a lot of painting and gave me tons of advice as well as his old paints and brushes.
I took a different approach with the green, painting it the darkest shade before drybrushing lighter shades over it, before applying nulin oil over it, rather than paint it light and layer darker shades as I had done with the red.
With this mini I made several experimental techniques.  Rather than paint the iron parts directly, I painted it black and drybrushed Ironbreaker on it.  I then drybrused runefang steel on the edges.
The horn and claws were done by painting it dark brown, before layering lighter brown drybrushes before a very light drybrush of white over the edges.
The final thing I decided to experiment with grass texture.  I painted small patches of the base with PVA glue, before putting it in dirt to make the rocks.  I painted them simply (just a quick covering of black and a layer of drybrushed gray) before painting over the empty areas with more PVA glue and dipping it into the grass texturing I had.  I brushed off the extra so it didn’t bunch up and I REALLY like how this figures come out.

Miniatures Showcase - Blanc Noir
Another character concept I’ve had in my mind for ages, I decided to finally make a mini for him as a possible character for a game in the new year.  Stat wise he’s a monk (Sensei/ki mystic/monk of the lotus), a really cool combination that turns the monk from a direct fighter to a support class, using bardic performance and ki powers to buff and support teammates.  Personality wise, I wanted to try an almost xellos like personality, a smiling helpful guy who’s secretly hunting down his own secret agenda.
Painting wise, although simpler than my previous model, this was a pain in the ass to paint.  Every time I went over a black section, I had to touch up a white section, and vice versa.  I went for an opposite colour scheme for each side to create a yin/yang look to him.  I also experimented with different shade paints for each part, leaving the armour clear, nulin oil for the robes and agrax earthshade for skin and hair.  The base was just a dark green base coat, with lighter greens dry brushed/painted over and agrax earthshade for the finish.

Miniature Showcase - Mechanicus Priest
This figure was a gift, and it took fooooorever to finish, mostly due to other commitments taking up time and the sheer complexity of the model intimidating me.  I finally forced myself to get started on it and got to work.  I had to paint the mini still on the frame before I cut out the parts, covered over any problems then assembled.
I experimented with a couple of techniques I had used previously on this build.  I used multiple shades of red for the robes for highlights and used a red shade paint to add depth to the darker parts.  I stuck to bronze and boltgun metal for the robotic parts.

Miniature Showcase - Elven Slaver
A mini I painted, this was the first one I used some paints my friend got me for my birthday.  The gold came from that set, and came out nicely.  It was also my first experiment with different shade paints.  I used red shade on the scales and red cloth.  The white hair was a problem as I couldn’t use shading on it as it came out too dirty.  I had a similar problem with the skin, particularly the face.
The base I wanted to try and make a snow base.  I mixed PVA glue with baking powder and liberally applied it.
This one isn't based directly on a character I've played, but a concept I had for a backup shadow of the demon lord character, a elf of the new religion, but who also happens to be casually racist while thinking that his thoughts are positive and completely true
