i don't like to yuck people's yum but i have to say that my least favorite thing to come from the current state of Artists on the Internet is the idea of a sketchbook as something nice and pretty and shareable. like i love me a notebook full of gorgeous art don't get me wrong but that is NOT what a sketchbook is. a sketchbook is my friend who i carry around everywhere like a purse chihuahua. it is the physical manifestation of my notes app. it is the container into which i wring my brain out. it is my therapist. and most of all it is filled with absolutely terrible sketches that should never see the light of day.

Probably the favourite out of all these Amarna Royals portraits I've been doing. This time Nefertiti! I polished this one a little more and now I'm wishing I'd done the others the same way. Hindsight, or an excuse to make more ;D The others I have done can be found here and here, with a traditional take on the latter here.

I'm just a massive lanky nerd trying to find my way through life by keeping my head down. Unfortunately I'm quite tall so it's difficult ^_^'

Now I'm back home, I have everything at my disposal and could finish this sketch off I began before I left. I found a really nice biro type brush on CSP and wanted to see just how like the real thing it was. Turns out, it's pretty good! I like sketchy sketches, so I tried to resist neatening this one up too much.

Have an impromptu Mads Mikkelsen, because why not?

I've been digitally painting a bunch of the Amarna period Royals based on what statues and works have been found of them (They'll be posted as they're finished).

The reference image said this was Meritaten, but just how sure historians are of that seems abiguous. I'll run with either Meritaten or Meketaten, daughter's of Akhenaten and Nefertiti :)

Borbs, many borbs. These were painted for a relative as a birthday gift. I think the red cardinal looks like he has seen some shit and he's having none of it. XD

I originally intended to sketch Anubis in pencils, so while testing out some new pencils I had I quickly sketched Bastet. Apparently I cannot just sketch things anymore, I must always get carried away :p

I've been doing quite a bit of traditional work lately that I haven't been able to post due to not being at home. But here you go!

First up, some Hannibal related fan art :D This is actually the third time I redrew this as the first two colour schemes I wasn't too fond of. The scanner makes this kind of neon but it's a lot more vibrant IRL.
