the place adventure time has in just culture in general is so so funny to be because it's so prevalent whether through just merch with characters on it or designs directly referencing the style/aesthetics and yet most people have not actually seen the show past season 1-5 (including me until like a year ago!) so if you try to explain any post s5 adventure time plot where it basically became a complete different show you sound fucking insane. they don't even know about princess bubblegum's gay cousin chicle. they don't even know about my dear friend fern.

i dont know if i’ve ever mentioned this before, but it was always weird to me that princess bubblegum says she doesnt have bones in obsidian, when we know she has teeth (and, we do see bone when she gets posessed by the lich i’m pretty sure, but,,, i’m not talking about that rn).

it poses the question, what ARE her teeth made up of? i used to have this comic idea where they were like mentos and if she were ever to drink cola her head would explode, but it felt way too extreme.

it’s probably just more gum though. maybe chiclets.

Im really curious whats everyones answer to this, cuz to me, i always call her Bonnie, even though average person probably has no idea she even has a first name

Princess Bubblegum's "You think I'm nice?" in that Stakes scene always stood out to me, and after my official rewatch I know how to explain why:

PB expresses several times over the course of several years that she is trying to be a better person. It is heavily hinted at from the very beginning, but in season 5 with episodes like Rattleballs, the show comes right out and tells us that Bonnibel Bubblegum has a cruel and violent past. But it's a past that she regrets, and that she wants to move away from.

And it takes years! It takes multiple plot heavy disasters, some near death experiences, some scolding from her loved ones, and a lot of mistakes for PB to genuinely begin to change, and to change the perception that others have of her.

And I think Marceline's seemingly innocent little offhand comment about her being nice is so meaningful. Especially coming from Marceline!

Someone who she once broke her heart and who hated and resented her. Now when Marceline thinks of Bonnie, one of her immediate thoughts is simply "she's nice."

And PB can barely believe her ears. She's nice? You think I'm nice? My attempts at self improvement are actually real and noticeable and the people I love aren't afraid of me as much anymore? You think I’m nice?
