It's crazy that we have an interesting queer storyline between characters who are canonically and explicitely engaging in being their queer selves with each other multiple times on our screen, and yet outside the show it feels like I'm shipping the rare pair who was in the same room once 5 seasons ago that would be kind of weird to talk about to the creators and cast.

911 Lone Star: Episode 2.1

Scene plot: Firefighters stop a woman from shooting arrows while they rescue an electric worker hanging from a satellite tower.

Carlos: You know if you get yourself shot again, you're never making it out of the doghouse.

TK: Maybe don't make us do your job for you next time.

Carlos: Firefighters. You really are a smug bunch.

TK: You love it.

This post doesn't do it justice. You'd have to see the way they're walking and hear their voice inflection to really get how "charged" this is. But I'm up early continuing my rewatch and realized this is the sort of banter + relationship dynamic Bxddie fans want for Buck and Eddie. And like literally everyone else who ships characters, we take their non-"charged" banter and see it that way regardless of whatever is actually happening. That's the core of shipping.

But in light of the way that particular portion of the 911 fandom behaves towards the canon gays, I really do see the way jealousy leads to flooding the Tarlos and BuckTommy tags with foolishness or the hate fics. When your ship ain't shipping like the canon (or the better ship, as in the case with Sambucky 🤷🏾‍♀️), some people resort to tantrums.

Do I laugh? All the time. But it's ultimately sad. I laugh because I'd be so jealous too lol. But I'm not because I'm always on the right side of fandom. There's never a day I'm without a full plate of content. Gonna rewind this scene for the 3rd time.

I mean this sincerely I am so glad they addressed the elephant in the room and then shot it fucking dead in the same episode. I am glad that Tommy admitted to seeing Eddie as a threat. I am glad Buck got mad about it. I’m glad Buck told Maddie that it’s bullshit to think that he has romantic feelings for Eddie. The show has coasted for far too long on ambiguity and to finally say “No. Buddie isn’t happening. Buck’s into Tommy.” With their whole chest is so fucking good.
