My random amusements: mainly A:TLA/LOK, books I like (the shadowhunter chronicles, the Grishaverse), Disney related (Kingdom Hearts) the occasional gymnastics and kpop posts, and anything else that interest me.
Heejin: “Hi, Orbits! :) Already it’s the first anniversary for us, Loona. I think back to the daily routines of being so frazzled while preparing for Hi High keke I’m so thankful that the 12 of us being one is just a normal thing now! And also that we’ve gotten to one year without any incident! In these routines that have now become familiar, sometimes I look back on my day, and on myself, because I know familiarity sometimes makes you forget how to be grateful. I look at how that day went, whether I tried my best on that day’s performance.. It’s thanks to Orbits that I can think of these things! Because I know it’s Orbits who will be most sad at some of the careless things I might do. Thank you!! For becoming such great meaning to me, that I couldn’t live without. I’ll pay it back, so that you won’t regret the days you’ve been with us. Thank you for working so hard this past year! Orbits!! Let’s be happy going forward <3”
Nothing will ever be funnier than non-Christians “informing” Christians about things they’re already aware of like they’re showing electricity to 12th-century peasants or what they have to say is going to shake our faith to its very core.
“Did you know the Forbidden Fruit wasn’t really an apple? That depictions of the fruit as apples only came about because it was a pun on the Latin word “mala?”“
“Yeah we’re aware,”
“Did you know that Jesus wasn’t white? That He was a brown Middle-Eastern Israeli Jew?”
“We learned this in CCD class at age 5,”
“Did you know The Prince of Egypt is a Jewish story?”
“We know what the Old Testament is and where Christianity originated, so…”
“Did you know that Hell is actually a frozen wasteland and not a fiery pit?”
“That was actually from Dante’s Inferno which isn’t considered doctrinal since it’s basically glorified self-insert fanfiction, however it’s a very interesting and thought-provoking read full of symbolism,”
Yixing had to post that stuff. he is a youth ambassador for china and china has a communist government. they probably forced him to post the propaganda. who knows what the consequences for him would have been if he didn't
I also want to say that not only lay has posted stuff like this. many other Chinese Kpop idols have done the same. its such a shame that china uses their celebrities to post information that they want to get out bc the celebrities know that china can ruin them and their careers in an instant
[another anon] "about the l*y situation... im pretty sure chinese idols are being forced to post this to protect themselves and the safety of their loved ones. the idols who posted on weibo posted at almost the same times, like it was something forced. i mean this is just speculation but i dont think its something he truly believes..."
you're not wrong. neither of you are wrong. knowing chinese (and korean) idol and music industries, it's more than likely most, if not all, of the idols who've been posting in support of the one china policy are doing so solely to protect their careers; what we sitting here don't know for sure is whether any of these idols truly support the policy or not. all we can do is, as anon number two said, speculate, and speak out against what's happening.
there is one thing my friend said and i'd like to share, though (and keep in mind this is by no means an accurate method of judging an idol's personal beliefs; it is simply a suggestion): if the idol posted on weibo, it's more than likely they were forced, but if they posted on western media like twitter as well, the chances are greater that the idol chose to take that side of their own accord.
