!Yellowjackets spoilers!
So you're telling me that in order for them to get rescued Mari had to be the one to die in the hunt instead of Hannah (cause of her helping Nat get away by swapping places)? Mari really is THE doomed by the narrative character...bro...

I'm Late Late Late... BUT About Joe Goldberg in that 4th Season....
Tumblr media
Yall. The reason why Joe fixated on Rhys Montrose, fractured mentally, projecting his worst aspects onto his persona, and tortured and killed this man is because he is "Joe" in his mind, w/o being the horrific person Joe chose to be. Montrose was absolute proof that all the justifications Joe had in his mind morally excusing all of the perverted, trifling, cruel, underhanded, stalkerly, murderous, serial killing shit he's been perpetrating over these seasons were bullshit.
Rhys had the same background but genuinely became a decent healthy-minded person, and even used that to help others through his career. Every fixation and eventual destructive act he has perpetrated in this show, was him fixating on "fixing himself" through someone else. Rhys was the ultimate manifestation of that being bullshit. That is why his brain broke the way it did.
He killed the aspect of himself that believed it was possible when he tortured that man to death and then corrupted who he actually was further, re-affirming him as a "devil" in his mind, the truth of his own craven choices was so hard to face.
Every previous fixation Joe had, reflected some aspect of an unhealed part of himself. Love was the opposite of Rhys. He ultimately killed her because she reflected who he actually was. A killer with a narcissistic mom and issues with her brother. The only reason Marienne survived as long as she did, before getting help is that she tapped into the base inciting incident in his mind... His mother abandoned him after he destroyed his own childhood protecting her. Her mentioning her daughter and not wanting to leave her (like his mom did to him) tapped into that, even while he was in his disassociative stages. And she survived because of that.
Hell, he fixated on her in the first place because she was what he wished his own mother had been. Joe is a sick, AWFUL, person. Period. He is past the point of no return... He was so, even in season 1. He's just been successfully lying to himself through that unreliable narrator until he saw the reality of a man just like him, who DIDN'T become what he had become. His new wife? IMO represents a similar coping delusion, but hers is at the beginnings of it. Kate despising a parent's cruelty, while ultimately lying to herself like Joe used to while in the end, embodying it.

weird as fuck living in a culture where it's considered more impolite to speak up and defend yourself against someone treating you unfairly than it is for someone to be rude to you in the first place

@arc-angel-o
you will never see me hating a fictional character. not even once. why would I feel personal hatred for someone that doesn't exist? the worst characters can do and have ever done is frustrate me. if I don't enjoy a character at all, I will not bother spending time talking or even thinking about them. and judging a character's morality as pure or flawed (or to some people, "good or bad") simply has no bearing on whether I enjoy them as a functional *character* in a *story*. for me, the more complicated the better. if they were actually a real person affecting real people, that treatment changes drastically. it's that simple.

One of the most important things to unpack and unlearn when you’re part of a white supremacy saturated society (i.e. the global north) and especially if you were raised in an intensified form of it (evangelicism, right wing politics, explicit racism) is the urge to punish and take revenge.
It manifests in our lives all the time and it is inherently destructive. It makes relationships and interactions adversarial for no good reason. It undermines cooperation and good civic order. It worsens some types of crime. It creates trauma, especially in children.
Imagine approaching unexpected or unacceptable behavior from a perspective of "how can this be stopped, and prevented" instead of "you’re going to regret this!”
Imagine dealing with a problem or conflict from the perspective of “how can this be solved in a way that is just and restorative” instead of “the people who caused this are going to pay.”
How much would that change you? How much would that have changed for you?

Love Quinn = Walter White
I was today years old when I had an epiphany. Love Quinn and old Heisenberg are actually pretty alike!
Both of them use "for the family, I'm doing this for the family" as a justification for their actions. But in both cases, it is merely a façade to cover up their true motives; they do it for themselves.
Love kills Delilah and Candace so she can keep dating the guy she's obsessed with. And the lie she tells herself to feel better about it is "I did it to protect Joe from going to prison and my unborn baby from not having a father". Similar to how Walter cooks up and distributes meth to feed his ego and lies to himself that he's doing it to provide for his family to make himself feel better.
She then kills Natalie for the same reason. And insists she did it "for" Joe when they argued while Sherry and Cary were at their house. While Joe is a monster and Skyler was a victim, I would say what Love is saying to him is still pretty alike to when Walter talks down to Skyler and has one of his "the things I do for this family!!" rants.
Same for when Love paralyses Joe and tells him "nobody will ever love you like I do, you think about what while you're down there".
In reality, both Walt and Love actually put their family in danger by doing what they do for themselves. Love killing Natalie puts Henry in danger of going to either narcissistic abusive Dottie or the system if her and Joe go down for it. Same for her planning out a murder of Marianne. Walt refuses legal options to provide for his family because he likes his criminal life, thus the money he makes for them isn't really a solid deal, he could get caught and it will be confiscated. Not to mention all the cartel members that could've harmed his family (and did in the case of Hank) because of his antics.
And then in the end, before their deaths, Love and Walt almost seem to have a moment of clarity.
"Everything I've done, I did it for me."/"We're perfect for each other.... But bad for Henry."

Me: I don't get it. I thought I was doing a lot better than I was a few years ago. I'm like 10 times more on top of things than I used to be. How does everything feel terrible now?
The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.
Me: BUT I HAVE A BULLET JOURNAL AND I MEDITATE NOW.
Tiny OSHA Me: BOSS, THE FASCISM.

As someone in and around their 30’s it has been INSANE to see feminism in popular media descend through
Women can wear pants and play sports and that’s equality. Women don’t just belong inside the house. This woman has a career
This woman can be a mechanic just like a man could. She’s probably still a lesbian, though, which is basically the closest to a man a woman can *be*, and explains everything. But she’s still a person!
If a woman superhero CHOOSES to wear stilettos to fight crime, that’s girl power! This comic character written and designed by men wears a bikini and has a waist size of 12 inches because it makes her FEEL POWERFUL! Girls don’t HAVE to dress boyish to be strong! She can make you a sandwich AND be a feminist! Girl power!
What, are you saying women HAVE to do boy things to be taken seriously? Who are you to tell a woman what to do? Maybe some women NEED to get their hair and nails done twice a month to feel powerful! Maybe a lot of women WANT to be stay-at-home moms!
What I don’t think you understand is that women have an inherent feminine spirituality which guides them towards maternal and nurturing paths. Women need to honour their divine female aura to keep their. Their fuckin. Their chakras together or some shit. You should put quartz up your hooha and huff wheatgrass. Leaving manual labour and science and technology to men is natural and good for you spiritually
Uh she can’t do that, that’s a blue job, she’s a pink job girly. Food? Yeah, she’s having #girl dinner, which is a handful of almonds. Time for our 15 step skincare routine, which is empowering. Hashtag #girlboss. Ew no, touching dirt? She’s just a girl. You can’t expect a girl to do that. Haha #girl logic

I so desperately want to be able to convince Trump supporters with facts and logic and empathy, but it’s so important to remember that their ignorance is INTENTIONAL. my mom didn’t let us watch Sleeping Beauty growing up. I asked her why recently and she said, “it was evil.” when I pointed out other movies had similar themes and depictions of evil, and asked what the difference was, she couldn’t. I pressed one more time and she just said, “it felt evil to me. I didn’t like it”. same thing with dune 2: she said it was “dark”, and I was, “literally, like the movie’s lighting? Or the themes?” and she said “I don’t know” and didn’t want to talk about it more. many conservatives genuinely cannot tell the difference between “I don’t like it” and “this is evil” and they do not care to learn despite many chances
