I came back from annual leave to find an email saying a piece of work was due at the end of the week (which actually really meant Wednesday because it needs reviewing and testing after I'm finished).

No problem, I did three university degrees with undiagnosed ADHD, if there's one thing I can do it's shit out surprisingly OK results in next to no time.

Within 5 hours I've completed 80% of the tasks I've been telling my boss I've been working on for the last month.

But then disaster struck.

"We're probably not going to be able to test it by the end of the week anyway, so we'll push back the deadline by a fortnight".

Shit.

Now I only have a tiny fraction of the work left to do, but the motivation is nowhere to be found.

I see a lot of posts from Americans urging people to phone senators and other representatives when something happens, or is about to happen, that would have a detrimental affect on the lives of many people.

I honestly feel that Brits should be partaking in this kind of lobbying, especially when the Prime Minister of a party that is supposed to stand up for minorities and worker's rights males a speech about curtailing immigration that's so heinous that it bears comparison to Enoch Powell's 'Rivers of blood' speech.

I don't think it's an exaggeration that Starmer's speech was that Xenophobic. To say that Britain is becoming an 'Island of Stangers' belongs in Nigel Farage's mouth. I didn't vote for this. This is so far beyond what I thought my government might try to do that I'm speechless.

But I'm NOT powerless. And nor are YOU! And this is where the lobbying takes place. Care for calais, one of the charities supporting migrants and refugees has drafted an email you san send. You can find it here

So many petition sites have email drafts on a vast range of things to local MPs or the Prime Minister. Use them. Fill inboxes with your thoughts and wishes to ensure the UK doesn't slide backwards. You can edit most of them to add personal thoughts. I've been adding a sentence on most to say I'm now regretting voting Labour. I don't know who to turn to (but Reform can jump in the sea)

It has been Too Warm the last few days in the UK, and I have an indoor cat who is not sold on the whole "not allowed outside unsupervised" thing.

I take immense schadenfreude in Elon Musk spending $25 million to try to influence an election in Wisconsin only for the candidate he was backing to lose by a larger margin than was predicted before Musk got into the race. Like how tf do you dump that much money into a state supreme court election and get not only nothing out of it but LESS than nothing. That's a truly impressive level of failure. I'm watching Elon become the most hated man in America like the Sickos yes hahaha yes comic
