maybe hot take but i don't think there's any meaningful difference between het/bi men's attraction to women and wlw attraction to women. i mean for one thing trying so hard to maintain a distinction of having "better" attraction is making a lot of women feel like shit for being interested in boobs, ass, etc because they're not markedly different from men. the difference hinges way more on het men's sense of ownership over women, on the rewards and benefits of patriarchal behavior that supercede genuine desire and replace it with habitual displays of lust and control. on the defensive and reactive impulse to assert habitual authority over women.
i have known plenty of heterosexual men who are entirely respectful of women and treat them as equals, and a lot of them (online) get mistaken for lesbians because they're, well, respectful. bi men are also generally easier to deal with romantically and sexually. but it's not because a bi man loves me differently than a straight one, it's because he's not as mired in the myriad aspects of typical contemporary heterosexual relationships that aren't so much love as they are habit and control.
acting like there's a fundamental gap between men and women in terms of capability and intellect will always discourage genuine mutual connection; understanding that men are capable of treating you well and maintaining the expectation that they do so creates a standard.

the thing is like. i get that it's scary and makes people who do desire to get pregnant uncomfortable when we talk about the brutality and violence of pregnancy and the damage that pregnancy can do to your body
but you deserve to give informed consent to that process.
the lies around pregnancy - that it's inherently safe, that it doesn't do you permanent damage, that it's only extremely rare for people to die of pregnancy complications, etc like
all of these are lies constructed so that more people will get pregnant w/o knowing all that
there needs to be more talk about the impact of miscarriages and how common they are, how different abortion processes are and how accessible they are
but also like. talking about how pregnancy fucks your body up should not be taboo
this is a process that permanently changes most people's bodies, and that's even if the pregnancy doesn't do them like. severe illness or injury
and i just think everybody should have a right to KNOW that
bc to live in a society that intentionally obscures and hides facts about a completely optional and dangerous process does so for a reason, and that reason is based in a very sinister ideology that does not value bodily autonomy or informed consent

Quick reminder that you don't need a solid sexuality! You can just be in love! Or not be in love! Or have a gender! Labels are a choice, not a requirement. All you need to do is be someone you like being! If labels help with that, great! But they are not required. You don't owe it to anyone, so don't feel pressured to choose labels if they aren't your thing!

Folks act like "maybe the author isn't the final authority about what their work means" is some wanky post-modern nonsense and not a simple recognition that a lot of authors are perfectly prepared to bullshit about their own work. Like, leaving big-name popular media aside, I have personally encountered authors being actively disingenuous about their own work for all of the following reasons:
A true answer wouldn't fit the image they've cultivated.
They've decided they like the explanation the readers/viewers have come up with better than what they actually had in mind.
Something that was originally intended as a standalone work ended up growing into a franchise or series, and now they're pretending that was the plan all along for some reason.
They don't want to admit that the bit you're asking about is genuinely just a plot hole.
The real answer gets into some shit they don't care to discuss, so they've prepared a cover story to explain away the parts they don't want to talk about.
Their politics have changed since they wrote it, but they don't want to acknowledge that, so they're constantly trying to re-interpret everything they've ever written to be perfectly consistent with whatever their positions are this week.
They wrote it decades ago and they honestly don't remember what they were thinking at the time, so they're just making shit up; sometimes they also don't remember what shit they made up the last time, so the answer is different every time they're asked.
The work in question is at least partly autobiographical and they can't tell the truth without confessing to a crime in the process.
Most of the good bits are plagiarised and they don't really understand it themselves.
They're lying to you on purpose, for evil reasons.

I will never not be sad by the de-fangification of our female characters on hotd. we could've had all of them serving cunt and warfare/bloodthirstiness but instead they are all 'peaceful' and everything is the men's fault 🙄🥲.
a cersei-esque alicent dead set on having her kids on the throne at all costs because she believes it's their gods given right, ready to slay everyone who gets in her way
rhaenyra asking her feral husband to eliminate anyone and anything that offends her, like vaemond, a son for a son, etc. stopping at nothing to get HER throne because SHE wants it, not stopping at anything to achieve her goals
rhaenys ready to ride into war for her queen to slay all her enemies instead of feeling bitter as she came across in the show a lot of the time
baela truly being the embodiment of her father in female form, being feral and ready to eliminate everything at once, etc.
oh, the show we could've had if they just weren't scared of the audiences reactions to powerful decisive women that aren't apologetic about their claims to power and what they believe is their's.
