COMPLETED

We managed to complete the project on time!!   Despite many difficulties and having to stay up till 5am to finish, we submitted on time.

During the presentation earlier today, I encountered some problems with the program but managed to fix it promptly on the spot. Despite the problems, I felt that the presentation went fairly well

Tomorrow we will be having a demo day where we will be showcasig our project to the public and all staff and students in school. Wish us the best of luck!

Change of plans

I have decided to scrap the GUI for the program as it was causing alot of problems with the other modules i was using so i will just use the console to propt the user instead.

Program

For the program, I will be using VMware to run a virtual machine that runs PYcharm with the modules dlib,cv2, and face_recognition.

I am doing it like this because my IDLE isn't working properly and will not download the modules.

Progress

I am making good progress on my facial recognition software and should be able to complete my prototype by the submission next monday.

For our project, I will be working on the programming part of the project while Evan will be doing the report

I will using python for the program as it has a face recognition module that i can download.

I will have to create 2 programs one to encode the persons face and store it into a database and one to take attendance and recognize the persons face.

TOPIC CHANGE!!!

I and Evan have decided to change the focus of our project from improving campus security to Taking attendance using machine learning.

Our new project will consist of a program to take attendance using facial recognition and deep learning as a demo as well as a report on the field of machine learning and how our program will work

So from now on the name of the blog will no longer be secure 360 but

ATTEND360

On around 2nd of January we created a survey to collect responses from students in Ngee Ann to see how they would react to the idea of our project and gather feedback and also see if our project was feasible.

Project

For our project, me and my partner have decided to do a project based around using Machine learning to improve campus security as well as using facial recognition to take attendance for classes.As for what we will be doing, we will be doing research into the field of machine learning and how it works, we will then search if there are any such examples of a similar system that exists or if it has been done before. We will then create a prototype of the facial recognition function that will be built into the system.
