to be seen

it is so, so loud. everyone around you is talking, crowded together. despite how loud it is, you cannot hear them, even when they talk to you. you try to talk to them, but you can't hear their responses. you take this as no response at all. it feels lonely, and dark, despite you all sitting in the sun together, and everyone's having a great time except you. you keep trying to get their attention, and when you do, it never feels like enough. you can't keep doing more. it's tiring. you see yourself floating in space, it's cold, and dark. they're still down on earth, laughing, so loud. you desire to be seen right now. you feel unappreciated, you feel left out.

her silhouette eludes me but it is here, here with me and my lurching body and my toes interlocking with the roots weaved within the soil. maybe it is my own fault that i did not come to her sooner, to repent for my wrongdoings, to take her into my pelt and spend cold, lonely nights with her when it seemed like there was nothing else, but there is only one thing i have the strength to do now.

i have so many thoughts on book 2 i literally lie awake thinking about it

first of all, i don’t think unalaq is disrespectful or against everything the protagonists are for his own gain. that doesn’t make sense to me given his cultural upbringing. he’s sassy and judgmental at times but i don’t think he would find any reason to criticize his niece who is also literally the avatar. and also, again, his niece, who has done no wrong in his eyes. in fact i think he’s honestly really biased toward her and probably had some lapses in judgement regarding the events of book 2 (if he wanted to be objective which he’s already awful at being). 

i think what he thought wan did was wrong still but it’s because he has a different perspective of the spirits, growing up alongside gods like tui and la (hi yue!) who are viewed as completely neutral and realizing that vaatu and raava must be completely neutral too. like vaatu is not “evil” and raava is not inherently “good?” it’s human bias that sets them apart. either way we definitely doesn’t hate wan either. maybe he just hates human error lol project much
