My baby blacktail mountain watermelon! This is his growth in 3 days!! I mean wow! It's a watermelon that works well up north in the cold. It ripens early in the season and I wasn't sure how it would do in the heat but so far so good! So excited for delicious scrumptious I hope! I will,be making him a sling to support it on the trellis....yes I will make my watermelon a bed, hahaha! Stay tuned!

Southern fried yellow summer squash! It is SO good, made it three days in row. My cholesterol is sad but my belly is happy. And my tomatoes! The mystery tomato is a Pink Tie Dye. They are pretty delicious but nothing compared to the Cherokee Purples. El yum!

My first little batch of heirloom tomatoes! We've got more torrential rain coming and I hope the rest survive. I was so worried the Purple Cherokee wasn't ready; it had a lot of green but it was squishy so I took the plunge. It is hands down the most delicious tomato I have ever had! The yellow pears or light bulbs as Jack calls them are pretty mellow and I haven't tried these red ones yet but I have high hopes!

All the tomatoes; growing less than an inch above the ground. I did something wrong probably but they look amazing and are going to be so delicious! These are purple cherokee. SQUASH. So much squash with all the rain. The rain has a nasty flipside though; they get too wet and get some moldy nonsense and go tits up. Already lost one plant and another is getting ready to cross Jordan. Boo sadface. Oh well.

This monstrosity was given to me for Mothers Day by my precious angelic son and husband. It is covered in black spot and has the most vicious thorns I’ve ever seen. It crawled it’s way out of hell (walmart-uggh) and now has prime real estate in my bee garden. I thanked my son and told him I loved it. Then I turned to my husband; wtf! And he said that Jack is positive I can make this sick rose well again. Awww. How sweet. We shall see. When I stuck it in ground, it naturally cut me to ribbons but I found the tag tangled in the roots saying this is an “Oklahoma.” Yep. From hell to Oklahoma to Walmart.

New trellis for my Baker Creek Orangeglo watermelons and my Crimson Sweet (I like to hedge my bets). We went to pick up some free bamboo listed on the neghborhood site and we were almost devored by the dogs inside the fence. I couldn’t get to it without getting bit so off to the big box store I went! And this trellis is perfect and way more stable. I have never successfully grown a watermelon so I am super excited to see what happens. And then there is my unidentified snot nose tomato! Can’t wait to see what kind he’s going be! Rain is forecasted all week so I’m going to get a few more seedling in the ground today!

Heirloom summer squash has blossoms everywhere, bees are going crazy and here is my first one of the season. Last year these were as sweet as candy, I've never had a yellow squash like it! I hope this batch is just as good! #atxgardens #gardening #summersquash #heirloomvegetables #elbuensamaritano #urbangarden #community garden # grow your food

Mystery heirloom tomato! I winter sowed about thirteen different heirloom tomatoes and this one was unlabeled when I put it in the ground. Why didn’t I label it!?!? Is it special? I don’t remember but I do so desperately hope with all my heart it is the one Pink Berkley Tie Dye that germinated. Oh please oh please with a cherry on top, let it be a Berkley!
