...shedding our default personality for the best.
One of the most influential articles I've read back in 2011. I had socially crippling anxiety disguised as obedience and "being a good listener." I hated the "obedient" label, but "being a good listener" wasn't too bad of an assumption. Breaking from my default personality of indulging in my hermit-like tendencies took years to overcome (a decade might have passed). Daily, hourly, momentary decisions were up for scrutiny - did I just defaulted? And the answers began as "yes's" for a long time. There wasn't a switch that flipped, or a notable night-and-day change. In hindsight, it was slow. It felt gradual. No peaks or crests.
