Kit Outcomes
Sunday 26th May:
Like i stated in my sketches, i came up with the idea of using pebbles from an image i took of the pebbles at the beach for the colar and cuffs. I took the image into illustrator and used the image trace tool (3 colours) to create the pattern, then using the dropper i changed the colours to fit the club’s colours. I think this was a really cool idea and its a small detail that not alot of people would notice but the ones that do would understand the meaning behind the kit overall. I also found this water brush on procreate which i then used for the kits main body because it gives a better effect than using an image would have given me. This was definately the right move because looking at my final kits i am very pleased with how it has come out and am glad that it looks like a complete piece. one of my worries was whan i created the colour patter that it would look too out of place and not fit the aesthetic of the rest of the shirt. The away shirt was again simple to create by using straight lines and the pen tool to map out the shape and create a really nice kit. I used a free downloadable football shirt image for the shaddows of the kit to help the final creation look perfect and to get a better understanding of what it would look like as a mock up. Overall i am very pleased with my outcomes, they fit my brief very well and look perfect too, as well as there not being too many issues while creating them i am proud of how they look.

Kit Sketches
Saturday 25th May:
The home shirt is the easiest to create as the colours complement each other so much that it’s almost impossible to create a bad idea for the shirt. The first thing I sketched was the collar and sleeve cuffs, I want them to present a pattern which represents the pebbles found on the beach, which I felt made the best sense when partnered with the water effect I have used on the main body of the kit. To add an extra sense of professionalism to the kit I added the solid design along the sides of the body which I feel helped make the less professional pattern used on the kit to all come together as a unit. I went for a classic alignment of the sponsorships and the crest as I felt with the design a more modern placement would be too much. I feel the design I have created really represents the village well and creates a clear view of what was intended. The away was a little more complicated because it was harder to create an idea that didn’t outshine the main kit for the team, but also creating a beautiful kit that fans would be proud to wear. I went for a classical look with the vertical stripe of beer blue on top of the claret, and then the addition of the blue curved sided square along the top and the centred crest and sponsors to help that classic look not look overly outdated and worn out. I decided to end the pattern on the backside as well as have the main shirt sponsor be on the back and at the bottom because to me if felt right to do so as it helped to keep the front of the shirt classical and sleek looking. I am also very happy with this design because I feel I have been able to create a design which looks good even without the strong village links.

Kit Research
Saturday 25th May:
When looking into other shirt for my research i knew exactly which ones i wanted to look into already as i knew the ones i have chosen have created links to the cities they represent in unique ways, which is something i aspire to include in my designs. The Manchester United 2017/18 third choice shirt was the fist one which came to my mind, the neutral colours are so fitting to the industrial history of the city. The reason why not only do i like the shirt but bought it for myself is the way they have used a halftone effect on the front of the shirt to display the statue and stadium, i think this is so well done and created a perfect image of city for fans. I also chose to include the Inter Milan away shirt from the previous season because it was created to celebrate the strong bond between the club and the city itself, shown using the map. I really like this as i feel the colours are greate and is another great example of how clubs can use their kits to form links with their city. Finally i chose to include the Bayern-Leverkusen home shirt from this season because it uses the red cross to represent the clubs owner company, which i felt helps show another way of thinking when it comes to kit creation.

Signage Mockup
Before starting with the creating of my signage I decided to collaborate with a student currently studying architecture at AUB to help produce a modernised version of the club’s current clubhouse. I did this because I felt it would make the idea of rebranding the club as a modern rendition a lot easier, which will help me to visualise my signage in a real context. Since Finishing my signage i have added it onto the mockup. Im unsure if it is because im not very good at adding aspects to mockups that arent on photoshop, or wether i havent created enough for the outside of the club, but this has made me question my signage. i still really like my outcomes but this isnt something ill be using in my process book.

Final Signage
I am very happy with these outcomes, although they are very simplistic, i think they do exactly as they should. They are easy to read, simplistic and look good in the context of the football club. I did make a few changes, for example I decided to use the edited typeface over the original because that was what the typeface was made for and if i dont use it then it is a wasted asset and that is something i dont want in my brief. The text on the welcome sign were also changed as the heirachy of what needs to be shown most did not fit as well as i thought it would, i think the way i have aranged it is alot better stylistically. I made a few changes to the menu board too but nothing major, just a few things that helped it to look better.

Signage Sketching
Wednesday 22nd May:
Included here is all of the sketches I have produced for the club. Following on from the approach I took when creating the online persona of the club, I decided to create the signage for the club using a more basic approach. My reasoning for this is based on the research of other clubs I had done, none of their signage and in person branding was too over the top. I liked this more as I feel it creates a draw to the online space, it creates a sense of interest and need to follow the club’s social media as well as going to watch the games in person. These were quite easy to create as none of the ideas are overly complicated and I tried to include as little imagery as I could to help keep the clubhouse looking clean and modern.

Signage Research
Wednesdsy 22nd May:
After creating my logo and font the next part of my rebrand I wanted to include was signage to use throughout the club and ground. Taking inspiration again from the Wolves rebrand, except this was done not by SomeOne but by Raw who were tasked with just the signage and wayfinding side. Using the iconic hexagonal shape used in the club’s crest, they created a series of wayfinding signs that help designate areas and lead fans safely around the stadium. This is something that inspired me to want to add this to my list of outcomes for this project as I know Beer Albion has fans of all ages and some with disabilities so a set of signage and wayfinding will really amplify the welcoming aura of the club.

Social Media Outcomes
I used a lot of the same assets to create my posts and my stories as it made it a lot easier in creating the fluidity I spoke about before. I am really happy with how these posts came out I felt I have followed the theme of smuggling very well and I feel that I have done so to a point where it would be very obvious to any followers, what the theme is. The scroll I sourced from Adobe Stock was very useful as I was able to twist, flip and invert it multiple times to help build the smuggling theme. There was quite a bit of development needed throughout the design process because with the need of a theme it meant there were a lot of avenues, I had to explore to reach the satisfactory point I have.

Social Media Sketches
Sunday 19th May:
For my post designs I will be using a 1080 x 1350px canvas as I prefer that style over a basic square or landscape post. In my experience it not only allows more room for text and imagery, but it also is more likely to stop the user from scrolling to have a look at the post. As well as this it also allows the post to be visible on the screen for longer even if the viewer scrolls past the post. I have decided to use a pirate/smuggling theme because it directly links to the villages strong smuggling background. I’m going to use the images that were sent to me by the club to help me include player imagery in both of my posts, they will also include smuggling themed backgrounds and type. I’ve decided not to use my typeface for these because it would not fit with the theme and because my brief is to relate all of my outcomes to aspects of the village, it means I don’t want to create a basic flat idea that a lot of clubs do use. The same will be done with my Instagram stories as I want the online persona of the club to all be the same to keep fluidity online.

Social Media Research
Saturday 18th May:
For the creation of my social media posts, I have chosen to look at Manchester City because of recent glory and being crowned the biggest team in the world I thought that if I was going to look for inspiration, that would be the team to be inspired by. The 2 I have chosen are generally the ones which football all club’s post. What I really like about them is the use of the players images in all ofthe posts, if I was a player for a team, I would appreciate being featured in the club’s online presence, and I feel it is a big part of how bigger clubs separate themselves from lesser clubs.
I chose to use Southampton FC for my Instagram stories because they are a team which I know have a better style of Instagram stories than Manchester City as I feel they put out very low-quality stories, which is surprising for the biggest team in the world. These two examples are the two types I will create for beer as they currently post the same things on their story during the match.

Crest Outcomes
Friday 17th May:
When it came to creating the final badge, it was a lot easier for me to do because the sketch I used was a very accurate one which meant I could just use the pen tool to form my outline. From there I used image trace to make it easier for myself to colour in the logo. I obviously kept with the font I have been using to add the establishment date and the name. I decided to create two main versions because I feel it is always nice to have a good array of options to choose from when creating a graphic or piece of marketing. As well as the main and coloured crests I created a fully black and fully white version again for the same reason.

Revised Sketches
Friday 17th May:
I created these sketches directly based on the images I chose that represented the village. I think these designs are a lot more experimental and really push the boundaries with how a football logo silhouette should be. Because of this I think I already much prefer these over my original sketches and design, the bottom right is the one which I like the most and will continue with. The smooth and traditional silhouette on the bottom of the crest and the more chaotic top is what I really like about it, as well as the boats being included, I feel really make the badge resonate directly with the village rather that what just seems like a generalised theme of fishing. I think the reason it is my favourite is because when comparing it to the other two it is a lot more exciting than the other two and I found it hard to include the information in a fitting way on the other two, so they are just a bit more uncomfortable to look at.

Revised Sketch Research
Thursday 16th May:
My tutor Sally Hope agreed with what I said about the previous logo in that it is a bit too cartoon looking and not the best work I could create. Because of this it has made me want to take a step back and revise what I had previously done. So, I have gone through and investigated other images of the village, and these are the most relevant ones I found. I had the idea that I could use the shape of the welcome sign to for a badge as well as maybe the boats and the beach huts.

Football Signage Research
Tuesday 14th May:
For more primary research i went to go and see an AFC Bournemouth game to get a better understanding of how the signage and the teams branding shows up around the ground. This isnt something i can really do at Beer because it is a very small ground and doesnt really have room for any of the things that the bigger clubs do. Despite that, this was interesting to do because it was great to go to a proffecional teams stadium to see in person how they are able to portray the clubs branding throughout everything you see while experiencing the game. I really like their black and red theme and think they have done a really good job at ensuring their branding is on display everywhere you look.
