the erasure of isack hadjars background has been bothering me for a minute now. he is algerian. he isn’t french the same way say pierre is. there’s a reason why he doesn’t drive for algeria. sure there can be multiple reasons why, personal ones etc etc. but you have to understand the history

back to the colonial dictatorship france had in algeria. we often forget these things happened not that long ago. 62 years. to think a country that’s only 62 years old and had all its resources, land, work force bled dry and worn torn trying to get it all back can compete with a nation like france and be able to give millions to a sport that is only getting more and more expensive isn’t feasible

he isn’t the first algerian to compete under a french flag. zidane, mbappe, we could go on and on and on

but he is algerian and it rubs me the wrong way when he’s just reduced to the french rookie. he is a POC on the grid dont forget that
