Because today feels wonderfully like Spring, here's a latergram from a few weeks ago when I couldn't feel my toes. (at The Cove)

Just learned today is #nationaldayofunplugging. I think that should be plural, and a frequent recurrence. See y'all tomorrow...maybe... #getoutside #talktosomeonefacetoface

Life isn't always hunky-dory. This past fall and winter was a great example of that for me. There was clutter in my life that needed cleaning up, both physically and emotionally. I struggled with where I was supposed to be, where God would have me go next. I'm ashamed to admit how little I worked with my horses and mules during that time, but after a session of groundwork where I went skiing through the mud--on my butt hahaha--I felt rather defeated and took a little hiatus from horsemanship. Other than the necessary chores I did on a daily basis and coaching a young lady with her horses, I didn't do hardly anything with my animals. In just the last month or so, there have been some pretty big changes take place in my life--some by my own choice and others not so much. As cliché as it sounds, some doors were painfully closed, but others have opened up to some incredible opportunities that led me to come into contact with some really amazing people! I have made some very conscious efforts to strengthen my faith and I can't begin to describe the joy and contentment that God has given me because even the smallest of changes! During my break from horsemanship, I had the privilege of discussing some key things with different folks that were able to really sink in and turn on so many lightbulbs along this path of #furtherequineeducation. Yesterday, I put a ride on one of my horses for the first time in a long while, and though he didn't start out on his best behavior, I was better equipped with exercises and frame of mind to redirect the energy and spunk he had to a more positive outcome. It was a fantastic feeling to be so connected and in tune with what was going on--not only in my life, but also with my handsome steed--and be able to bring out the best in the situation! #ebbandflowofhorsemanship #sorryforthebook #dontjustpostthegood #betwixtlittleears #creeksupwheresdeets #littlemountaincattlecompany (at Little Mountain Cattle Company)

Today was a great end to an already fantastic weekend! On the drive home, I was still basking in the camaraderie and atmosphere of the Saddle Up cowboy gathering. From the most humble, down-to-earth entertainers I've ever seen who asked their fans such personable questions, to the lovely folks that welcomed me in and treated me like family the whole weekend, to the inspiring cowboy church service this morning; the whole event just reiterates why I love the cowboy community! ••••• Then to top off this grand day, after I got home I had the privilege of welcoming this lil' lady into the big world! Life truly is beautiful, and my heart is overflowing tonight.

If you're really listening, if you're awake to the poignant beauty of the world, your heart breaks regularly. In fact, your heart is made to break; it's purpose is to burst open again and again so that it can hold evermore wonders. -Andrew Harvey

Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of Creation and of their land's inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows. These farmers produce valuable goods, of course; but they also conserve soil, they conserve water, they conserve wildlife, they conserve open space, they conserve scenery. -Wendell Berry ••••• It makes my heart and soul very happy to hear of land set aside for such purposes as Wendell mentioned! I just recently learned of a very substantial amount of land that is not all that far from our place that could practically be considered a wilderness area! I plan to do more research on it, but from what I've heard, its only uses include grazing cattle and access for a hunt club--no development allowed, ever! #dontdevelopunlessitsfilm #keepitwild (at Single Tree Farm)

Last night, as I finished up chores, I stepped outside the barn. I could hear a train horn blowing all the way from town; I paused. I listened to it clack-clacking along and a line from a song came to my head, "when I die, Lord, oh, won't you put my soul up on a train"... I looked up to an amazingly clear sky and a star shot across it almost immediately! Two thoughts crossed my mind: I'll always love watching the stars from atop this hill at home; and I can't wait for my next adventure!! (at Single Tree Farm)
