Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 6: Your OC’s Greatest Fears
This one is very easy: Avaline's greatest fear is Quillgrave, and being stuck under his control again.
She also fears FOWL, but no where near to the extent that she does Quillgrave.

Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 5: Your OC's Weaknesses
Avaline develops a healthy case of trauma/PTSD after her history with FOWL and Quillgrave. Both situations were abusive, and created an inability to trust most people. As she grows older, this impacts her relationships with those outside of her adopted family. She's also prone towards cynism, hypervigilism, aloofness, avoidance, and other PTSD symptoms when she's feeling particularly set off.
Her family (particularly Drake and Gosalyn) also become weaknesses for her. She would do anything to protect either of them.

Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 4: Your OC's Special Ability
Thanks to FOWL experimentation, Avaline has been "gifted" with the power of psychokinesis, or the ability to move things with her mind. The experiment was a response to SHUSH's own experiments with giving people psychic powers, though in typical FOWL fashion, the intent was always meant to be for nefarious purposes, rather than good.
Her ability is exploited further when she's taken by Quillgrave, and forced to do his bidding, using her power to break into places and steal whatever Quillgrave wanted at any given moment.
Thanks to her negative history, Avaline hates her powers, and would give anything to be a normal girl again. However, after she's brought into the Mallard family and introduced to Morgana, Avaline is taken under Morgana's wing. Under her tutelage, she learns to control and appreciate her powers a little more.

Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 3: Your Character's Design

Today I have actual PICTURES to accompany my post!! I've mentioned in a previous post that I'm not much of an artist--writing is far more my forte than drawing. The picture on the left, if it isn't blatantly obvious, is a picture I made of Avaline in the DuckTales character generator that was created when DuckTales 2017 first came out. I was fortunate because they happened to have items that more or less looked exactly like how I imagined Avaline as a child. She dresses conservatively as a child, in a sweater cardigan and a skirt. She has dark hair, and a beak and body that's more similar to Gosalyn's and Morgana's, rather than the bean-shaped bodies from DuckTales. She has white feathers and dark chesnut brown hair.
On the right is a picture that the legendary Tracy Bailey (she was known in the Darkwing fandom waaaaaaay back in the day) drew for me of Avaline as a teen! As you can see, she becomes more casual as she gets older, letting her hair down literally. I tried to keep her look as 90's as possible as a teenager: she wears brown corduroy pants along with her blue-striped top. Actually, she's meant to have sleeves similar to Dewey's sleeves in DT17 (which was something I came up with LONG before the show debuted--like, a good decade before).
Her look doesn't change a whole lot once she hits her twenties, but to be honest, I haven't nailed that design down yet. It'll probably be similar to her look as a teen, though!

Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 2: Your OC's Backstory
I went into this a little bit in yesterday's post, but I'll try and flesh it out more today.
Avaline has no clue who her biological family is. She was taken as a duckling and raised in a lab in FOWL's Psychic Division, where experiments were performed on her, along with others, in an attempt to give psychic powers. The experiments on Avaline were successful, and she developed an ability to move objects with her mind.
Another member of the Psychic Division's experimental group, Kevin Quillgrave, developed the ability to actually control people with his mind. Quillgrave was older than Avaline, and once he realized his grasp on his powers was stable, he used them to force FOWL to let him go. Quillgrave had also witnessed Avaline's ability to move objects with her mind and, feeling it would be a useful trick to have with him, also used his powers to force Avaline to leave with him, where he forced her to commit countless crimes in his own self-interest.
Quillgrave presented himself as Avaline's uncle once they had escaped to the outside world, but the relationship was mentally, emotionally, and occasionally even physically abusive. Avaline wanted nothing more than to escape, but was unable to escape his powers, and remained his prisoner until SHUSH and Darkwing Duck became involved. With Darkwing's help, Quillgrave was defeated, and Darkwing took Avaline in as his own daughter.
Avaline and Quillgrave also did not know their names until Quillgrave forced someone in the lab to provide the files containing their back information. Until that point, Quillgrave had been known as Six, and Avaline as Twelve.

Darkwing Duck OC Month - Day 1: Avaline Quackbell Mallard
I'm very late to this, but I saw the initial announcement way back in July and really wanted to participate. Real life stuff got in the way for the first half of August, but I saw a post saying this can be done at any time? So I'm joining in now!
Avaline is an OC I've had bouncing around in my brain since all the way back to 2001, when I rediscovered Darkwing Duck after watching reruns on Toon Disney (I'm old enough that I watched the initial run when it first aired in 1991-1992, but I was 5-6 then). Reconnecting to the show lead me to seeking out the fandom online, which resulted in finding a bunch of DWD OCs, which naturally made me want to create my own.
Avaline has gone through several iterations in the last 20(!!!!) years, but I finally settled on the version of her I liked most when DuckTales 2017 first came out. It's time to finally write her story, and by participating in this event I'm hoping to motivate myself to do so, heh.
We'll first meet Avaline when she's a young girl--she's the same age as Gosalyn and Honker. Avaline is based heavily on Jessica Jones (particularly the Netflix show), with a dash of Eleven from Stranger Things mixed in. She was raised in a secret FOWL lab that experimented on children. She has the power to move things with her mind. She has no idea who her biological family is, but she was kidnapped by another victim of the experiments, Kevin Quillgrave (*trying not to laugh at the name*). Yes, he's based on Kilgrave, and he has the same ability to control others, and bend them to his will. Avaline was useful to him since she was able to use her mind to complete tasks he wouldn't be able to do on his own. He used his powers to kidnap Avaline and escape the lab, and then wreck havoc on both Duckburg and Calisota from there.
Avaline is eventually aided and rescued by Darkwing Duck once SHUSH puts him on the case. With Avaline's help, Darkwing is able to defeat Quillgrave for the time. In order to protect her, and "hide" her, so to say, Drake Mallard takes Avaline in as a second adopted daughter.
Avaline's story is meant to be told as a trilogy, told first from when she's a young girl, again as a teenager, and a final battle against Quillgrave when she's a young adult in her early 20's.
Unfortunately, I'm no artist please someone draw for me, but tomorrow I'll go into her appearance and post a couple of pictures I was able to collect from others along the way. :) Avaline's love interest is also Dewey Duck, as based on his DT87 and (especially) Quack Pack characterizations.
This version of Avaline is based on the original 1991 version of the Darkwing Duck universe. Maybe for one of the days in this challenge, I'll speculate on what her world in the DT17 universe would be like. :)

Finally I've done what my heart has been challenging me to do: draw some familial fluff featuring DW and Gos. The parental bond between them is the jewel of the show that touches hearts.
